New Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/GAEEK00028
This video shows you how to install a water pump and timing belt on your 2001-2007 Volvo V70. The water pump keeps coolant flowing through your engine. Common failures of the water pump will leave the coolant leaking, or stagnant. Both will lead to overheating if left untreated. Install a new engineered to fit water pump from TRQ for total peace of mind.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2001 Volvo V70
2002 Volvo V70
2003 Volvo V70
2004 Volvo V70
2005 Volvo V70
2006 Volvo V70
2007 Volvo V70

There are some great videos of this service on CZcams. This is the most concise in my opinion. Thank you so much. I will be attempting this on my XC70 this weekend. Cheers.
How did it go?
8:52 with a slight tap of a rubber mallet (proceeds to smack the snot out of it) 😉
Great video! Helped a lot.
Man, thank you! You make everything looks so easy! You explain so well that even a person with rudimentary technical skills could handle it!
Thank you for sharing this video, is the most clearest video I've ever watch a step by step how to change a timing belt. All the question in my mind I found it here. Thank you once again.👍👍👍
From what I have heard, the timing marks do NOT equal top dead Centre. It is a point where no piston is at the top of the cylinder at all, because of this you are able to rotate a camshaft 360° without damaging the valves. Hope this helps.
This is a wonderful video. Just wondering if it is totally necessary to remove the harmonic balancer? I've sen other videos where they don't do this during the timing belt change. Any comments are appreciated, thanks.
thanks allot for this video!! i changed timingbelt and waterpump on my v70 2.4t 2002 yesterday and this video was just what i needed
Great video. What are the torques on the harmonic balancer: 10 mm nuts and 30 mm nut?
Great video! The temperature varying tension system and also the interference engine design make me reluctant to DIY. I guess I have to pay the shop.
Thanks for this excellent content. Will be attempting this on my 2008 S60.
Multumesc frumos pentru informații și va doresc tot binele din lume mitică
Hi.
I've just finished renewal of timming belt, tensioner, hydraulic gizmo and roller. Serp belt.
I've worked on all makes of cars over the last 45 years and I can honestly say this was a pig of a job to do.
As we know cars are not made for home mechanic maintenance these last thirty years.
The main problem on volvo 850 petrol engine is the belt is almost impossible to fit with balancer in place.
It's also impossible to get cam pulleys lined up once the pin is removed from the hydrolastic piston.
They move back one tooth off the mark after two rotations of crank.
Therefore you have to outsmart the car by carefully turning both cam wheels one tooth to the right, towards the front of the car, in order to have all notches lined up after pulling the pin!
This I've found out by bitter experience.
I must say I had the same problem on my mgf after HG renewal last year.
Well, I hope this helps anyone out there facing the same job.
Allow at least six hours to complete the job.
Great learning curve!!
Thank you for that video! Just bought a V70 and this will be very useful :D
Very thorough very professional and clear
bloody brilliant, thanks . 😀
Best video on youtube
Super, dziękuję za film. 👍Pozdrowienia :)
very good video,very clear .
outstanding video my man!
Brilliant Video
nice job
I agree very well done.
Excellent tutorial for a project I have soon. That said...did you break the tab off the coolant bottle?
Is this for a diesel or petrol ? Or is the application same for both.
What size is to take off the middle bolt for the crankshaft?
Very good video. You explained everything!!
+@ggtaruc2578 Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
exactly what engine are you working on? my 2006 xc70 2.5L turbo 5 cyl. looks similar but does not look exactly like what you have there.
Awesome
Do I need to buy a Cam lock to do this on a turbo xc70 2004?
I changed oil for 2001 volvo v70. Thanks. Garage asked me for 285 euros. I did for 100 euros.
What is the manufacturer's recommendation for change interval time and kilometers?
Great video. I used it while attempting the belt change today. And with this tutorial all went well
Sehr gutes Video! Herzlichen Dank für deine Arbeit.
Kennst du ein Diagnosegerät für meinen Volvo S40 I, 1999, Benzin, 85 KW (9101/722)
Why would I need to hold the crank shaft in place to do it by hand but not with the gun? I want to attempt this at home but don’t want to damage my engine
Do you really have to take the crank pulley off? Cant you just loop the belt over it?
11:12 why i cant just release the tension by pulling that ”lever”? Whats wrong about it?
Does this also apply to the VVT engne?
+@MN-id2cl The repair should be the same or similar for the VVT engine.
26:20 "cam turns twice around as crank turns once". I think you go this backwards
Two rounds of the crankshaft to one round of the cams.
i pour Coolant in the reservoir as the
engine is turned on but its not flowing
down
So the reservoir just fills up and thats
it
My car overheats after 5 minutes of
driving!
Does that mean that the water pump
is bad?
Because radiator is not clogged
I already passed water from side to
side of the radiator and it flows
through
Any body please help im new to
Volvos
The crank turns twice to every turn of the cam shafts. This guy has it backwards.
You broke the outer clip for the coolant reservoir at 29:32
You’re not supposed to take off the harmonic balancer to change the timing belt, that’s what that little plastic cover is for. And any time to remove that you have to replace the four bolts with new ones and torque them properly because they are stretch bolts and should not be reused. Don’t just impact the old bolts and crank shaft nut on like this clown.
Seeing all that's involved in this, I don't feel so bad now paying $1.6-2K to have it done.
30:43 “nice and tight… just do your best…”. 🤦♂️
Torque specs are so overrated… not to mention those are stretch bolts and should never be reused… but hey, what do the engineers that designed this know… /sarcasm
