What's YOUR favorite Denny's item?
thanks for featuring my question! also great video.
I loved your Ultraman impression @7:46!
My wife and I went to the Denny's in Akihabara. Their breakfasts are yummy! They served those big pillowey Japanese pancakes, and my wife had the traditional breakfast with natto. Everything was delicious. And the drink bar is awesome! Nomihoudai!
Can you PLEASE do an episode on the best kept secret in Japan? Saizeriya! Mirano-fu Doria is my favourite ❤️
Food presentation in Japan is truly unmatched. Every dish looks just like the picture.
Yeah!! I think because many people will complain if the food doesn't look like the picture haha! But in Japan we have the saying "Eat with your eyes" so its very important for our food to look very tasty!!
Or the miniature model out front!
Hi I'm Rita I love you I hope you love and support meplease follow me🥰🥰
Go to Korea and china and they’ll have the same thing
Dennys in the US has a phenomenon I call the “good dennys, bad dennys” theory. Every US community has a dennys that is clean and the food tastes good, and one with stained carpets that smells like Pee and the food is godawful. And only the people that live there know which is which. If you’re traveling it’s kind of a roll of the dice.
Oh so interesting! I think the Denny's I went to was bad Denny's! Wait staff was very tired looking and not so nice!! But I like the steak and egg breakfast!!
i can confirm this is true
Honestly, I believe this applies to every franchise network anywhere around the globe, minus some exceptions. Usually comes down to owner and management.
In my city we have one, and whether it sucks or not depends on who's running it that day. 😫 It's still better than our IHOP which frankly need to be shut down.
Yeah, it's true, ...the nearest one to where I lived for a number of years was truly frightening, but there was a far more excellent truck stop place even closer, so we would always just go there for our after-hours fooding. :) (If travelling to the US, oftentimes a non-chain place will prove to be a real treasure. Sadly, we lost a lot of great places to the chains being everywhere. When I was in Texas, though, most of the Dennys were pleasant enough, though for some baffling reason they didn't have real cream for coffee. I've heard the prices have become pretty ridiculous, though.
One of the real selling points of a Dennys in the US is that it's 24 hours. When we were younger it was a thing to hit all the clubs, stop at Dennys at 3am on the way home and have a steak and shrimp dinner lol
That was our go-to move also. McDonald's double cheeseburgers were a close second. Ah, the good ol' days.
b dinner you mean burger right?
@@whitewolf2767 not the best steak for sure but far better than no steak lol.. That said, this was in like 1997 or 6.
@@VolkXue hmm..thanks
Dennys is probably my favorite FAMI-RESU in Japan. Yes, their desserts are a highlight. The major weak point, in my opinion, was their coffee. BUT they have recently started serving 7-11 coffee, which is actually great in Japan.
Anyway, thanks for another entertaining video! 🍻
Yeah coffee in Denny's is so good now!! I can't go to another famiresu drink bar any more! Also I like herb tea at Denny's too!
7-11 coffee is quite good in the US and not expensive. Starbucks gets Vietnamese coffee, which is the worst, actually the cheapest and worst on earth. In LA, we have Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, which isn't so large as Starbucks, but has higher-grade coffee.
I love the Grand Slam / French Toast Slam and I’ll order it every time, but if I had the Japanese version of Denny’s for breakfast, I’d probably be a lot healthier lol
If you eat all the dessert maybe you won't be that healthy haha! But I want to try the pancake from American Denny's!! Look so good!
until you hit the dessert side 🤤 and you will more than ruin any healthy aspect.
Hi I'm Rita I love you I hope you love and support meplease follow me🥰🥰
The buzzer at each table to call your server over instantly gives Japanese Denny's the win.
That breakfast looks nice. I make something I call the "Japanese breakfast" sometimes that consists of grilled salmon, miso soup, sunomono and white rice. I don't have the egg with it or the natto (I don't really like natto anyway).
As US teens in the 80s my friends and I lived in denny's from 8pm till 3-5am smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and when you were hungry a grand slam was only $1.99- 2 eggs 2 pancakes 2 sausage or bacon.
I'd never call their food nice or give it a 10/10 more like rations for the night.
US popeyes is my happy place!
I'm constantly surprised at how the presentation of food is ignored here often or that the person/kid making it thinks a half cup of mayo/mustard/oil dripping on to your lap out the back of your sammich is fine.
Much thanks to the Eats for their videos!
Oh American Denny's image is changing in my head after reading these comments haha!! I didn't think it was too bad, especially steak and egg! Hmm.. I think I have to find the nice Denny's in America next time!!
I can't eat at ANY Denny's after my husband found a tooth that wasn't his in his pancake while dining at the (now closed) local one. Though I'm sure it's much better in Japan, I'm just scarred for life now.
WOW!! I would never go to Denny's again if it happen to me!! So scary!!
I suppose you could have sued them, given that it was a non food item that should not have been in the food and a choking hazard.
Or called the health department and had the place shut down.
WHAT
How does a 🦷 end up in the food?! 🤢🤮
@@ericpowell4350 Fist fight in the kitchen or it fell out of a methhead line cook's mouth.
Everything you ordered looks exactly like the picture. It's nice to see the care to presentation. Usually, in the US the food only looks good in the menu, and doesn't taste that great. Seeing this makes me wonder why restaurant chains in the US don't care about quality and presentation.
When I went to visit my future wife for the first time in Osaka, she took me to a Denny’s near where I was staying at Sakaihigashi station. As we were walking there, I was thinking that Denny’s was like home, and I was looking forward to it. When I saw their menu, however, it was completely different than the one I’m used to back home. It was actually a great experience, and since 2013, I now know that the Denny’s is much different, and even better in my opinion, than the one here at home. She misses the Japanese Denny’s.
Hi I'm Rita I love you I hope you love and support meplease follow me🥰🥰
Omg the plating that they do in Japanese Denny's is way better than American Denny's. Whenever I go to Denny's here they always just throw things on the plate a little mismatched but in this video the plating makes every dish look appetizing and clean.
Maybe I should go back to Denny's for lunch or dinner tonight because it's been more than 6 years since I've been in our local Denny's here in America. But someday I definitely want to try Japanese Denny's because they definitely focus on the presentation of the dish which I really appreciate. Because nothing is more disappointing than ordering something when it looks so perfect in the picture but the end result looks different and not as perfect.
I always love your energy, Mrs. Eats. Thank you!
Thank you! I get my energy from Denny's food!
11:26.. the far away look in Mrs. Eat’s eyes. 😆
You know it’s gotta be good when you applauded 👏🏻 your food!
The Japanese take their Western chain fast food-especially McDonald’s and KFC-so seriously that even before watching the video, I’m going to go with “Yes”. US Denny’s is not well respected, tends to be the punchline of “bad food” jokes, and most of its influence is due to it being everywhere at most highway shopping areas, and being open at all hours for travelers who need breakfast at strange hours, like truck drivers or drunks.
When I went to Japan with my friend, Denny's was one of the best restaurants we went too, we were amazed.
The first time we ate at Denny's in Japan was because it was early in the morning (early by Japan standards, before 8AM) and they were about the only place open. Most places in Japan only serve bread/rolls and coffee for breakfast. Now, we look for Denny's whenever we want a more Americanized (eggs and meat) breakfast. I love that you can get rice and miso soup with your breakfast!
It's a wonderful world that we live in.
On the one hand, that natto looks like something that will haunt my dreams. On the other, I quite like spicy chorizo burritos for breakfast. The kind that feels like a heart attack waiting to happen, and you may not enjoy that very much. Our differences make us better. As a side note, they SAY the chorizo (Mexican) is made out of pork, and it probably is, but you can't ever really be sure. I love taco wagons, and the first rule of eating at a taco wagon is to never question the ingredients origins.
Hi I'm Rita I love you I hope you love and support meplease follow me🥰🥰
I love Japanese breakfasts so much, so sad they are almost impossible to get anywhere else. I was going to mention how the meal looked _exactly_ like the picture, you beat me to it!
Great vid, thanks for that, now I got a good start in the day 🙋🏻♀️
What great content! Gorgeous food! Wonderful idea to do a Q&A along with a restaurant program. Excellent
I used to go to dennys for every birthday when I was a kid. This video is so nostalgic. I always would get breakfast for dinner 😋
I love your videos!💕
I live in the USA and I just love everything you do!
When I worked for Toshiba 20 years ago, I was fortunate to have the company send me to Nasushiobara. Several of us tried the local Denny's and were so surprised at the blend of Japanese and American food. Staff were so kind, and the food and presentation so much better than in the U.S. Deserts were yummy. Thanks for this lovely video.
Wow! Thanks Mrs eats, you answered my question!
I like natto and fermented foods. I'd love to try sea cucumber as well. Dennys Japan looks amazing
Thanks for your review of Denny's in Japan, it was a treat!
When my Japanese family came to visit, they ALWAYS took home a suitcase full of beef jerky. I don't remember if it's not that available or just really expensive but they always wanted that the most. And, of course, when my mom went back home for the last time she had to bring a separate suitcase full of jerky. haha
My favorite thing to order at Japanese Dennys is the Chicken and shrimp cauliflower rice porridge. Add a little bit of wasabi and get the eggplant side dish with spinach and daikon… it’s so good!
When I went to Japan I stayed away from places they were American or seemed like American places because I wanted to explore Japanese customs and culture however I think I would go to Denny’s after watching this. The food looked so yummy!!😋😋💕
I forgot to mention my denny's guilty pleasure, Moons over Miami. Fun to say and a timed gut bomb!
I've tried the omrice before but that butter chicken curry looks soooo good! 👍
Hi Critical!! Yeah butter chicken curry was so good!! Especailly inside the rice they put some kind of spice. It adds nice crunchy texture that maches with the soft rice very well!
Your culture is so amazing. Love the breakfast btw.
That Japanese breakfast looks amazing! The only thing I'm not too sure trying is Nato, I wonder if I could get past the texture of Nato.
That would be a fun experience finding places in Japan that have their own style/spin on making food! 👍😱
The food looks SOOOO much better than American Denny's!!!! 😭😭 I'm so jealous 🥺
Oh man that choco parfait looks amazing!
A friend of mine had already been to Japan and the first "family restaurant" he took me to was Denny's to check it out. He told me the menu was very different, so it wasn't a complete surprise. I wound up having the hamburg steak. Very tasty.
One thing I haven't tried personally is natto. I know it's an acquired taste and I understand that many in Japan don't care for it much either. I guess you either love it or hate it.
Hi I'm Rita I love you I hope you love and support meplease follow me🥰🥰
Gutted never made it to Dennys on any of my Japan trips now. Thanks for sharing this!
New Mrs. Eats video! Yay!!!
Thank you!
Sadly I don't have a Denny's where I am. But i did enjoy their pancakes when I visited the U.S.A. Japanese chain restaurants look far more appealing than North American and British ones, I will say that :) thank you for sharing! One day I hope I am able to visit Japan and experience all of these wonderful things you share.
It looks more like a lunch but I normally eat breakfast as 11am. I would love it.
I love how much you enjoy your food 😅
Yeah, my wife (from Okinawa) got me to "TRY", that "ROTTEN" beans,, Natto? > SO awful. She loves it! Good for her, and you, Mrs. Eats
Mrs. Eats! My husband and I watch your videos all the time, but usually forget to comment. Recently I brought home some natto for us to try for the first time ☠️ it was an interesting experience hahaha! Hope you’re having a good day
Wow thank you!! You and your husband are very brave to try natto!! Yes it's very strange right?? But it's actually very healthy! It can make your blood thinner so it can flow easily in your body! Of course its very difficult to eat it too haha! What will you do with rest of the pack of natto?
@@MrsEats I actually haven’t thought about it. Maybe I can come up with a recipe!! 🤔
This reminds me of when you go to Red Lobster in Japan. It is nothing like what you would expect in the USA.
I recently started eating eggs on rice for breakfast and its my new favorite! I use some furikake, some chili oil, soy sauce, and a bit of kewpie mayo. DELICIOUS!
The butter chicken curry with lemon rice sounds like a weird fusion of North & South Indian food. Looks interesting.
Whoaaa ur channel grow up so fastt
This video wins the award for most time someone has said "I love Denny's [ insert item here ]" in under 15 minutes.
Was amazed to discover that Japan has Coco's restaurants as well.
Similar format as Denny's and Marie Callender's in USA (casual restaurant with a bakery), but I thought Coco's went bankrupt (my parents took me to Coco's occasionally in the 1970s in San Jose, CA, but it closed).
I didnt even know Japan had Denny’s
Yeah Japanese Denny's is very nice!!!
That brownie sundae looks SO GOOD
* _ *
I love the food in Tokyo. Wish to visit Japan again. We tried cheap and expensive restaurants. And even the cheapest was really good. The only thing I disliked was that some customers were smoking indoors even though there were signs not to smoke in the restaurants.
Japanese Denny's BETTER than American Denny's?
Yes, absolutely, yes. And I miss Johnathon's too...
We can't eat at our local Popeye's. We know people that work there, so we know all the problems in the kitchen. *coughratschoke*
いただきます! 🍜🤤👍
EDIT: I called my husband in to see that parfait and crepes. His response, "I wish we could go back to Japan..." 😫
Your Denny's rocks. Denny's in US is so-so. It stays open 24-hours so it is good to go to if you're up late after a rock concert or something
The couple Denny's near me closed a few years back. Quality dipped and service went down enough that people started going to the local joints more often. I do miss late nights at Dennys though 🤔
Not that many places open all night where I live 🙁
The only times I go to Denny's here in the US is whenever I'm on a road trip (because they're usually near hotels and motels) or after a night of drinking and there's nothing else open (because they're open 24 hours).
Side note: Does anyone else also think about those videos of the punk shows that happened inside two separate Denny's (one in Texas and one California)? The "What fuck is up, Denny's?" quote from those videos always pops into my head whenever I go to a Denny's.
Oh Oscar fashionista!! Hisashiburi!! I think you will love Denny's in Japan!! Have you tried it?? Almost everything is very tasty there! I was actually surprised omurice was very nice there!! Actually I think it's much tastier than Kichi Kichi Omurice haha!!
@@MrsEats Yes! I actually went to one when I went to Japan and had the omurice, it was pretty tasty.
Mrs Eats I would love to come and visit Japan and have you as my food guide.
I have a rule in my apartment. If you are watching any Mrs. Eats videos, you need to eat something and enjoy the video at the same time.
“But Johann, we saw this video already..”
“I don’t care. We Fakkin watching this again!”
I love Japan's family restaurants, but Denny's always makes me sad because they don't have Grand Slams. It's like going to McDonald's and finding out they don't have Big Macs.
100% yes it is! One thing that surprised my husband the most lol
If a high end sushi chef gets angry at me for enjoying my food my way, that sounds like a personal problem.
I never had fish and rice for breakfast but I love both.
When I Visited Japan First Thing I Wanted Was Mc Donald's Before this I haven't Eaten at a Mc D for 10 Years.....I loved it!! But I Haven't been to Mc D Since That Time in Japan (2019)....Mc Ds here in the US Just Smells Wrong.....OMG That Chocolate.....I am Sweating I need That!!
I will always be envious of Japanese Parfaits
I think I would go to Denny's more often if it were like the one in Japan! So jealous! (hello from Canada!)
I also liked Gusto too. That was my first Japanese family restaurant I tried lol. Drink bar and Melon soda 😁🥤
The quality is better than the Denny restaurant in Vancouver Canada
I still miss tht grand slam deal I wish they had it here in Osaka. When I visited a mainland Denny's I was joansing for a Loco Moco but they didn't have it so I had to order everything separately. The egg and hamburger patty was easy but the rice was substituted with hash browns. The brown gravy had to be substituted with country white gravy. But the worst part was that they don't have fruit punch.
Yes I wish Denny's Jpaan have big American style breakfast! Of course you can add pancake and others to your breakfast but we don't have a hash brown! Only french fry haha! Also grilled cheese sandwich is side menu for breakfast! Very interesting!
Thank you.
One difference I’ve noticed between Japan and America is that, for picture menus, Japanese try to make what is served to the customer look as close to the picture as possible, whereas American dishes are usually not going to look nearly as nice as the photos.
1:28 got me 😂
I liked Denny's in Japan, but not going to lie, when I was feeling a little homesick from California I was happy that Japanese Denny's had American style breakfast on their menu.
I would be going there often if I ever visit Japan. Too much seafood in Japanese cuisine for my unrefined palate.
Yes Denny's is good for American who miss some American food I think! Of course pancake is not so crazy like American one! But I think the western breakfast is not too bad!
You can enjoy many kinds of good dishes at Japanese Denny's!
It took me a long time to get tired of Japanese food. Actually, when I was in Japan I didn't really crave it, mostly I think it was because I missed home a little bit. I did miss Mexican food though, that was tough to ignore. 🌮 🌯 🇲🇽
@@missplainjane3905 I know you were not asking me, but:
1) Yes, I absolutely do.
2) I would rate it 9 out of 10. I only take away one point because of long workdays.
3) The stereotypes are true, 99 percent of people are polite.
4) Innovative, energetic, calm, captivating, and addicting.
I am in the USA and I am elderly. I always think I would love everything about Japan but the breakfast would make me cry. I don't even want to see that stuff in the morning.
Hey Mrs. Eats! I love your videos so much. Btw, I have a question to ask you about something you said in Japanese at 1:55. You said いただきまする instead of いただきます. Is itadakimasuru correct or not? Is it a colloquialism?
Japanese Denny's has Japanese food.
American Denny's has American food. (mainly breakfast food)
I wish Japanese Denny's had more American food because the Japanese food doesn't stand out in Japan but an American breakfast definitely does.
It's the main reason I go out of my way to go to international breakfast restaurants in Japan.
I’m in Poland and the people in Europe love their fizzy water , I learned that the hard way . I hate it , and I’m use to my sweet tea from the US already made , over here they give you a cup of hot water and a tea bag or they have bottled flavored teas like lemon or peach .
in the middle of huge breakfast: "Let's have a snack break!"
That chocolate ice cream looks sooo delicious i wanna try that if i go to japan again love your vids mrs eats! And may i ask what does "okini" (i dont know if i spelt that right) mean?
Yeah you have to try it!! Okini means thank you in Osaka dialect!
@@MrsEats oh ok thanks!
Natto sounds similar to cheese (fermented protein) & yes-I eat baked salmon skin W/ seasonings.
My family raves about the spaghetti at Denny's. They say it's better than a lot of Italian restaurants and they don't understand how.
Your's and paolo from tokyo's (youtuber) smile resembles a lot ..
Omg loved your video! I love Denny's. The breakfast. 🤤🤤🤤🤤💙♥️🌺🌼😘😘😘🌹🌹🌹
We LOVE the Japanese Denny's because it's more healthy than the American ones and have more selections! We never go to any Denny's in America ever only in Japan!
Oh dear. Now I'd like go go to a Japanese Denny's today. 😃 Sadly that's not going to happen any time soon. Greetings from Germany.
The quality of food seems better at Denny's Japan than in USA
"sliminess that smells like feet" -- i will never be able to forget this description of natto 🦶
The chicken curry that was shown reminds me a lot of chicken tikka masala in the United States (purely from appearance I cannot speak on the taste).
Benn to Denny's in Japan. Only problem is I wasn't able to get salads for take out a few weeks later for a special dinner I was making. Other than that Denny's is good!
I remember when I went to a baseball game in Japan and got a hot dog. I put ketchup and Japanese “mustard” on it and it was the absolute worst; ruined the whole hot dog. As an American, I was expecting regular French’s mustard.
The very first time I went to Japan I was soooo surprised to see Dennys. Of all place Dennys 😵💫
I'm still amazed that it's actually possible to eat rice 🍚 with chopsticks 🥢! LOL I wouldn't be able to do it --- too hard. 😃
If there is a Dennys in Japan, there must a IHOP there too.
This is very different yet interesting 🤔.
The rule is you can have a little soy on sushi to bring out the taste but if the piece has something on it don't do anything as its seasoned already. The actual rule is just have a little soy but don't drown the piece of sushi as the soy will destroy the taste. If a sauce or seasoning is already on the piece do not put soy on there as its been seasoned already and you enjoy it as is. I got told off before for drowning sushi so i do a little dip to get a bit of salt on there.
I don't understand why some would want to eat that much soy sauce anyway. It has a pretty strong taste to it and a little bit definitely goes a long way.
Popeyes food is an _experience_ that Food Wars clip is very accurate haha.
I love american denny's but JPN denny's seems like a whole other level 👀
When it comes to food, if it exists in both the US and Japan, the version in Japan will most of the time be better.
100 times to mix the natto. I love it.
That curry looks so good! I've been wondering fall is coming (My favorite season) and it's time for JET program applications. BUT I barley know any japanese neither does my mother I just turned 15, and she is good at teaching! altho it may be hard to get in? and is there any way you get to choose what part of japan to get to? sorry if this is too much but I'm wondering, is there any discrimination against foreigners? I am african and japanese but I am so uneducated on etiquette and other stuff 🥲
