My sister-in-law is originally from Tokyo. When she and my brother had their civil ceremony before their big Shinto wedding ceremony, they had lunch at Denny’s. My brother said Denny’s in Japan is leaps and bounds better than here in the States and that some of the best pasta he’s had was there. Definitely going to try it next time I visit Tokyo!

Mikey you NEED to check out some of the other Family Resturant chains in japan! You'd love them and I think they'd make for a great little mini-series!
I HIGHLY recommend checking out these great family restaurant or "famiresu"...
1.) "Saizeriya" it's an Italian- style family restaurant chain that has prices that will you make do double take (in a good way!) good food and almost unbelievable low prices! This is supposedly where all the highschool/college aged kids go hang out because of the good food and cheap prices.
    2.)"Bikkuri Donkey" (Great Hamburger steak!),
3.) Bamiyan (It's Chinese style family restaurant chain with AYCE hot pot, gyoza, Buns, and other goodies!)
4.) Royal Host (I've heard good things about this one! It's more of a "higher-end" famiresu with the prices being a bit higher (well, high for a famiresu that is, so still a bargain compared to regular restaurants) but supposedly is well worth it!

I've been raving about Denny's Japan for 39 years. It's about time they're getting some yt love. The food is so simple, but done very well, and it's not greasy! It was the first time I found out about the no tipping custom, but the service was so impeccable that I couldn't help myself.

Everything is cooked from frozen, shelf stable, or liquid processed (looking at you, carton eggs).
Its all loaded with sodium, greasy, and unhealthy to the point you'll leave feeling borderline sick.
You may get sick from the poor cleanliness standards.
Dennys is the place you end up when everywhere else is closed and you havent eaten because literally every plan you've made that day has fallen through, so you just need something hot that you didnt have to cook yourself.
That Japanese Dennys is this by comparison, not joking, makes me feel cheap and kind of gross. Like how little American companies put into American quality is beyond disgusting - its shameful.

I've been to Japan 10 times and eaten at Denny's 3 times there. It's that good, as shown in the video. It blew my mind.

Denny’s in Japan is delicious IF you don’t order Chinese inspired dishes. We got a cab to take us to Denny’s while in Nagano. The driver was very confused and repeatedly asked if we’re sure we want to go to Denny’s 😅 He didn’t know I specifically asked my family to have my birthday dinner in Denny’s 🎉🎉

I’m surprised you never been to a Denny’s! And you’re in LA, right? Then again so many better breakfast joints there! Also my goodness Denny’s in Japan has a way better menu than in America! 🤯🤯🤯🤯😳😳😳😳

That affogato looks almost like a coffee jelly. And I've always wanted to visit a family restaurant in Japan (although maybe a Japanese chain instead of an American one).

Not saying you shouldn't go to a local restaurant, but you have many meal opportunities. (3 a day) So why not give it a shot if you stumble across one! They a leagues better than any other chain restaurant in the states.

try royal host for a more elevated option (higher prices but still good), jonathan’s for the best fried chicken, gusto for their burger patties with cheese inside. you really won’t get traditional japanese food in family restaurants - if you want japanese home cooking but by a chain - try ootoya. such good home cooking but not expensive at all.

The Denny's in Tokyo is top tier for sure. I had hamburger curry atop white rice and the unlimited drink set (wanted melon and cappuccino, so got both). It was a cheap, simple, and super flavorful meal 😋. 10/10 Would recommend.
