Heidi and Terry got his act right away. It eventually grew on SImon. Sofia and Howie are just clueless on comedy I guess. This guy was entertaining and this song has been stuck in my head for weeks.

I think Terry understood right away how funny it was. Heidi was just very passionate about cheese. See how offended she got when Simon said he didn't like parmesean cheese. But I think once Heidi saw the audience reaction she was on board.

I think the judges got confused thinking this guy was really trying to be an all star singer when reality it was a comedy act. I’m glad he got to move forward. The comedy acts are my favorite. This guy was my favorite of the first episode. Rooting for him. I know he may not win the whole show but I’m excited to see what he does next lol

This is exactly what's wrong with this show. The judges X'd him because they "didn't like the song". That's not what the show is about. It's called "America's Got Talent". The only thing that should be judged is their level of talent. Not their back story, not whether you liked the performance. He clearly had talent in 4 ways: he can sing, he can play guitar, he can make people laugh, and he can capture an audience.

To be fair many singers and dancers shouldn’t be on the show but they let them through….. the comedy acts on this show are so slept on though
I don't think that's the problem. He's just an ok singer and guitarist and if he just got up and sang a regular song it wouldn't have been impressive.
I think the issue is that it's a comedy song that's intentionally about something mundane and starts off really slow and awkward, and the melody sounds like he's just randomly making it up. So when it starts it just sounds kinda bad and then you get the joke once it becomes an anthem.
It was just a risk on a show like this because usually with a music audition you can tell right away if they're good or not, or with a comedy audition you have a bunch of jokes that get to the point faster. This was more about just needing to embrace the awkwardness. He also didn't introduce himself as a comedian so I think that added to the confusion lol.

I found his song amusing. I also loved how all the judges were against him at first. But thanks to the audience, he was able to win over Heidi, Sofia, and of all people, Simon. Howie was still unmoved, but the audience was able to help Ben Lapidus persuade three of the judges to let him through. The voice of the people can be a very powerful thing.
Howie is getting stupid with age. This guy is a genius. Funny, confident, music player and song writer. He is already a star.

I really like Terry as a host and he and Heidi freaking got it like "oh its comedy" and ran with the vibes. Heidi only buzzed when he started to scream and encouraged for an encore. How is it that the ENTIRE audience immediately figured out "oh he's being funny and relatable" and the ACTUAL comedian Howie Mandel and starring actress in a hit sitcom Sofia Vergara DIDN'T get that? He's not the first one to do this kind of thing.
I don’t like howie as a judge. He’s supposed to be an expert at comedy and humor but 99% of his golden buzzers are kid singers with a sob story. Meanwhile he buzzes funny comedians. Even though he cracks the occasional joke he doesn’t seem to have much respect for comedy as a legitimate talent.

IMO .. The issue is that he presented himself as a songwriter, as opposed to a comedy song writer. There's a huge difference. This song is absolutely asinine in the grand scheme of things, but in the realm of comedy writers… this is pure gold and something that most people can relate to! He should have specified that he is a comedic songwriter right off the bat.

Doing so would have completely wrecked the joke. If they were forced into that category they might as well stay home.
