Can we take a moment and give a shout out to Avery's mom - she has a YT channel and has been trying to promote him for years. She never gave up, got him on AGT and now the world sees Avery for what he is - BRILLIANT!
Can you please let us know the name of her channel?
yeees!!!
A mother's love for her kids is beyond anything. His mom is a superhero. I'm all 😭😭😭😭
Makes me cry!
He's a great soul
As a musician who knows how to play the sax, the TONE of that first note was pure butter. It was so clear and the tonality was melting me into my seat. The articulation, the intonation, the runs, the crescendos and decrescendos, the vibrato, the FEELING, EVERYTHING about this from a musical standpoint was absolutely phenomenal and only a handful of truly great saxophone players sound like this gentleman did here. I want more
I'm a Saxophone player myself, and thought he was even better then me😂🎷
@@joshuapritchard387 bro. He's better than I am as well and I'm okay admitting that lmao
Well it seems that the bullying had a purpose although it stinks that anyone has to go through such cruelty. But if he had not gone through that maybe he wouldn't have turned to trying to hone a skill to "show them"!!! That creates passion!
Bullies!!! Eat your words I say!
even I as not a musician felt it going down like butter damn ♥️ and it’s so hard to play as well!
Ahhhh love the saxophone! Could listen to that always!
When Terry said - "you tell every bully that you have a big brother named Terry Crews.", I was on the floor. I hope Avery never has to go through that every again.
💪💪
Oh man! Terry is legit amazing
I love Terry even MORE for that!
I'm crying too!
You could tell that Avery still really needed to hear that
8:38 when Simon says it was like listening to a singer, this was a GREAT compliment. One of the main goals of playing saxophone is playing "lyrically", meaning play trying to emulate a singer to add emotion and style. The fact that Simon isn't a sax player makes it even more impressive that Avery was able to convey this emotion to someone who doesn't even know about playing "lyrically" (i play sax too and im glad its getting some fame)
when avery was playing, i literally thought to myself that it sounded like a singer !! super impressive
@@sh4rkss Thats how I always felt listening to buckethead, not a Sax, but the way he plaid with a guitar felt lyrical in nature, its amazing stuff.
Avery is a brilliant saxophonist. You are master of your saxophone. God bless and l cannot stop listening to your music it touches my soul. God bless you in abundantly in your music career
He made that sax sing
To be fair Simon knows a little about music so putting him in the same basket as non sax players is ridiculous.
Imagine being that talented and that humble. Incredible saxophonist, even better human being. Avery Dixon is just what America needs right now.
Can’t wait to see him in the live shows in Hollywood! 🎷

Terry is such a nice and humble too! Just like Avery!!!!
That did it for me too 🥺
This kid is a amazing sax player & amazing person. You don't see that these days. I wish him good fortune. He has a bright future!!!!!
When he said "im sorry" for being nervous, you can tell this kid has the purest heart..... so humble and courageous.... Avery you are my idol , you are the man 💪💯
He was raised well 👏 👌 🙌
When he said that I was done even before he got started. Avery is the kind of talent scratch that the kind of man anyone would be proud to know.👍🏾
I was looking for this comment. Just goes to show he has been through hell and back. Glad to see him making it through that hope he’s okay now!
And I said out loud, "There is no need to apologise my dude." But I know what it's like to be bullied for being "different", so understand why he would feel the need to "apologise".

U can tell his mother did a fantastic job raising him, what a class this guy has.
There are people who blame the world for everything and turn to violence, and then you get someone like Avery Dixon who come out shining like a superstar!
..and there people who have very bad upbringing and make the world hell for others, few of them ended up becoming a shining star like Jane Elliott.

He doesn’t just “play” the sax…he makes it SING!
Yes Indeed He Does 💝
Agree
He doesn't just make his sax sing. The flow of music from his spiritual being is like listening to an entire band play. He is that talented and disciplined. A single note from his sax fills the air with a life all of its own and we are transported to a dreamworld where music beguiles and enchants us. Hooray, Emory!!!!
Phenomenal !!

Met this dude at a table I was serving. He is as humble, kind, and meek as he seems in this performance! Much love, praise God!
I usually am not the biggest fan of instrumentals but oh my goodness I could listen to Avery play all day!! He plays so smooth and it’s just like he’s singing! So beautiful. Beautiful soul
Some people can make their instrument 'talk' . In this case Avery puts real soul into his sax. I would love to see him play Baker Street because he would add his golden touch to it ! Thank YOU Terry for giving Avery the golden touch too . Terry is a great human being !!
It just catches you. The way he plays the way he moves. He transforms into a badass person. It was just him and his instrument up there. That's what the greatest do.
Something tells me he's going to be on agt all stars :)

That "Thank You" when Simon told him "you can be loud as you want here" is DEEP!

He’s got that old school soul! Great story telling voice and amazing emotion when he plays. He is truly a star
1000%
This has gotta be one of my most favorite auditions I’ve ever seen on America’s Got Talent. I literally started crying myself, not just because Terry Crews gave him a Golden Buzzer, but because he said, “If ANYONE tries to bully you again, you let them know you have a big brother named Terry Crews! I got your back, man!” He stands up for Avery. That is the absolute coolest thing I have ever seen on the show. 😭
Shoutout to his mom !! We know how she's stood by him and his brother personally . Oh his brother is a drummer 🤞🏾
That's great. It'd be cool if his brother were to audition in the future as well
ATL DRUM ACADEMY I saw his brother with tears running down his face at one point. When I saw the group of drummers that came on the stage as the first audition of the night, I almost thought I was watching and hearing something out of the movie Drumline. The moment Simon told Avery he can be as loud as he wanted and Avery was relieved to hear him say that kinda got to me a little bit. No talent deserves to be restricted. Especially his.
I totally agree, it's like he was free to have his voice being heard, amazing
I played the saxophone for nine years in school and I got pretty good, but never as good as him! He’s a freakin musical genius and I love his passion! There needs to be more appreciation for people who play musical instruments because it requires so much practice and talent

This is so heartfelt and it just made me cry even more .Such beautiful words.
The ironic thing about this is that those bullies probably created the emotional depth that he taps into to produce that soulful music. Timeless Art is sometimes created in pain.
💯💯💯
I agree, Amen. It makes you Stronger, If you tap into that inner peace, that joy knowing that God will Always be there, if you except him into your heart. I know I changed this around, but that's what I did, and had to do, and Wanted to do. I tapped into God, and now He directs my path. I had been bullied most of my childhood, I had been molested, Most of my childhood, I had been raped. So hard for me to open up about this, But something tells me to anyway. I left home around the age of 17, and didn't tell Anyone where I was at or where I was going. Didn't care to tell anyone, not even my mother. I have seen Many things, been through Many things. So yes, i tapped into God, and He directs my path, He alone gives me strength, and the courage to face another day. I am having full knee replacement surgery at the end of this month. But let me tell you, if it wasn't for God, I wouldn't be here, Nobody would be here. I thank Him every day I am alive and still kicking. So when I heard this young man tell his story, it brought me to tears of pain, tears of Joy, and tears of knowing that He is here showing his gift, his talent, and his heart. Sorry for my long reply, but this is why I agree with you. I am So Thankful for God and All He has done for me and my life. I hope that you and Everyone here has a Safe, Blessed and Wonderful day. Angela from eastern North Carolina but live in Colorado now. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Very cool Mr. crews. Adding to the level of respect I already had for you. You shine in that Hollywood valley of darkness. And by the way that young man can play. I thought I was listening to Kenny G.
And now we can call him Avery D 👏🏽🙂
Yes that was so sweet of Terry!

His register and control of the sax is insane. He is meant to do this.
I was thinking of cannonball Adderley when he was playing I wanted to think of Coltrane but maybe as he gets older
@@fatovamingus Yes! exactly who came to mind for me too, and shades of Sonny Rollins and it felt to me...a lot of Charlie Parker influence but that just my opinion, he is at his age a very very gifted man. Amazing
@@cosumar6551 I always felt like cannonball Adderley might have gotten in a couple of cool seconds here and there but he wasn't very free player. Then again how can you be free when you're playing with Coltrane at Bill Evans etc but I think this kid with the right support and because of the emotional charge that's driving this instrument for him... I'm I'm praying for this kid he deserves something.
Ladies... I will look up the artists you referenced so thanks for that. I'm no expert but
As far as this kid, what I heard was absolutely amazing.
I've like the sound of the saxophone now for about 5 years when I heard a 10 year old play but I never knew it could be referenced as having a " register and control". I just have to say as a woodwind player, achieving those sustained high notes without squeaking, and without running out of air, and with proper embouchure is amazing. He’s a natural, you can hear the hours of practice and dedication poured into his skill!❤
I know that many people get excited when they hear a beautiful and talented voice, but few artists who play an instrument are recognized and applauded for the immense dedication and discipline that comes with getting to the point of playing with such passion and amazement. Avery was really amazing! I hope that he will never give up on his dreams and that God will take him to high places.

I'm happy for you Avery Dixon. I'm 23. At my young age I've grown cold and rarely cry now even though I was the most emotional person you'd meet in school. I've been bullied my entire life. Same names you were called because I looked different. I graduated highschool praying for a way to get revenge on all those people that bullied me and the teachers that allowed it and my family that never understood how it made me feel and how close to taking my life I was. I joined the marine corps hoping it would toughen me up. But that was a whole other beast cause apart from bullying and the frame of mind and disposition it gives you for the rest of your life, I could never feel accepted and the wrong people at the wrong time wronged me every step of my career and I realized that I never had my moment to heal from the trauma of being bullied and the scars from not wanting to be alive anymore and I never had my moment of validation and triumph. I watch this video seeing you with the talent you actually have and not even knowing that you deserved to be on this show and the fact your mother believed in you wasn't enough until the judges themselves proved it to you that you don't need validation you actually deserve to be there, and that motivates me. I don't blame you for not trusting your mother's opinion of you, or anyone else's because when your bullied you learn to not put too much stock in the positive things people say to you because the negative has always been the loudest and most persistent opinions about you. I am the same way and seek validation that I am not the things my bullies called me my whole life even though the people closest to me reassure me, and that's a poisonous mindset. Hopefully this proves to you that you don't need validation from anyone, and the validation from the ones closest to you if any is enough at least. I'm on my journey to healing and I pray yours is a success as well if you see this man!!
God bless you, and stay strong. Get some good people around you who are positive, and doing great things.
Please heal. I wish it for you.
You deserve a happy life. I’m sorry for your horrible experiences. Just remember that for every jerk who bullied you, there are ten times more people who cheer you on. We got you. 👊🏼❤️
Man!!! I hope you’re doing well. Keep going. You’ll reach your happiness. One step at a time.
If I were to comment my struggles like you just did, I’d get replies saying I’m a wimp, an idiot, and to get a life.
I hope you find the time and space to heal and become who you were born to be. ❤🌹
He wanted to end his own life, and that statement alone was enough to make his mom emotional. But instead, he found strength in something he's incredible at. Instead of losing a son, that mom watched him succeed and make her the proudest mom ever. Just beautiful.

Your claim that his story of getting bullied to the point of suicide is “pathetic” truly shows how incapable you are of love or compassion. What if it was your son or daughter born differently, and driven to the point of suicide? Would you still talk like that?
Cheers were simply to pump him up because he was nervous - there are cheers on every act, I’m not sure why you’re so upset about it. Perhaps you just loathe any sign of positivity.
What kind of act is 10 seconds long? What do you even mean by your statement? Of course he wanted to show off his skills that’s the point of the whole fcking show😂 And if you claim this is “unremarkable” you’re clearly not a musician… you’re just a middle aged divorced man working a depressing 9-5 wasting your sad life away. And for the record, this man has more character and talent than you will ever have.
You can have your own opinion of the show without ruining everyone’s day, bud😁
That was amazing. I love Terry and how he stands up for people who were bullied because of how his childhood was. Amazing stuff
He is pouring out his emotion into that saxophone you could hear every bit of it, it breaks my heart to hear how people get bullied for just not fitting in or looking like everyone else. To me I think that's what makes you special makes him better God had a purpose for him, and he definitely showed it on the stage. I have so much respect for him, so many gets swallowed up by the darkness of pain and hurt that we can't find a way out, I was fortunate enough to overcome mine, and I'm a proud that he overcame his. I pray that succeeds everything he sets out to do in life. ❤️
Terry Crews is one of the best things that happened to AGT. He is an inspiration. What a soul
I like him as the host!
This young man moved me to tears. I felt every note from his sax. God bless you Avery. I’m buying your music on Apple right now.
Much Love and Total Respect! Take Care and Be Inspired, Avery and AGT. Crew! WF-😎🤩😉😍✌️👌
❤ WHAT A WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN! YOU WILL GO FAR! YOUR TALENT IS REAL! ❤
AMAZING !!!!!!!
He’s a master at his art !!!!
Amazing amazing amazkng
I played sax thru middle school and high school. I just want to tell anyone who might not realize, he hit 3 octaves in this audition. The higher end altissimo notes are not easy, and he played it flawlessly. Extreme talent, extreme energy, lungs of an elephant, and kid, no one cares about the air in your voice anymore because you just sang thru your sax bud. You're more than good enough. I'd say you can give Kenny g a run for his money. I hope he sees this too, cuz I have no doubt he'd wanna meet ya
So true. Thanks for the observation.
Hey Jake
Thank you very much for this!
I don't much about Sax and you really answered my question.
I was wondering about this as well. Not in a doubting manner by ANY MEANS. It was more comparative as I get winded running up the basement stairs (for my life, no doubt). I’m blown away by both Avery and yourself, Jake. Your comment made my day. ❤️
Thanks cuz I had no idea what good sax player sounds like, it didn't sound that good to me but it didn't sound off either. Maybe I just don't get the sax
Avery Dixon already sounds like a legendary name! He has some SERIOUS talent to back up his legendary name!!!
Exactly
First thing I thought!!!
Man I cried watching this. I see so much of my old self in this kid
Its not impossible to just get away from bully, but quite hard to get over and back in the life. I’m so proud that he decided to live again and show up on the stage. Now he just began to live his own life that is so bright!
I dont cry so easily but this made me burst to tears. The range of emotions in the performance as well as the self redemption.....its just magical.
nah fr tho , i haven’t cried in awhile😂
Me too
I absolutely agree with all you’ve said!! Whoaaa
The legend and purpose
I don’t know who’s cutting the onions but this one here is a talent. Well deserved Golden buzzer
Got me too
And me
Me three!
I've watched over and over! Wow
I used to get bullied in middle school and there were many days that I cried before and after school. Back in the 90s I guess bullying wasn't taken as seriously the way it is nowadays. What a great human being he is and is striving and thriving. Bless him!
Cried every single day I got home in the fourth grade.. and my mom raised hell. They did nothing ! In the 90s ..
Avery, the world fell in love with you.
After seeing this performance....the whole world is behind you.
This is myopinion
Sending ❤ from Australia
It’s like witnessing the birth of a legend. Kid is going places. I think he’s gonna go down in history as one of the best saxophone players of all time and GOD he deserves it!
I couldn’t agree more. He is just incredible. ♥️

Agree 100. Hope he stays throughout!
I agree Terry has a good heart
I LOVE CRAIG OF THE CREEK’s DAD!!!!
Terry is absolutely unequivocally golden. One of the most beautiful people in the world. His old Spice commercial was HILARIOUS. Everybody Loves Chris. Etc. His love for martial arts. Terry is a god
And I concur…..I approve this MESSAGE!!!! Terry Cruz is a KEEPER, such a genuine soul he is….Love Terry’s personality, he is an excellent host!!!! 😃🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💕
Golden buzzer to his wonderful mum and Avery. You are both AWESOME.
My tears not stopping falling
Avery Dixon is gonna become of the all-time saxophone greats, there's no question about it
Yup, this kid has talent that can't be taught, it's god given.
I agree
you are right !!!
for sure his great grandfather was Thomas Maxwell Davis Saxophonist and music composer... considered the father of R & B on the west coast. His great grandfather played with the greats...this talent is God given and passed on to Avery
@@tonybanke3560 No. it’s taught then developed through years of dedicated practice. All credit goes to him.
I was so happy when Terry cried, "There's no need to vote." Then he proceeded to give Avery the Golden Buzzer which he so richly deserved!
...when Terry shouted, "there's no need to vote", you mean...
@@kilimp.egbare1248 thats what he meant by cried
He didn't cry at all
I'm in tears
@@talvinfrederico5754 your joking right
I LOVE YOU AVERY DIXON ♥ YOU GAVE ME HOPE. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU WHERE EVER YOU ARE.
When terry pressed the golden buzzer I cried ❤❤
My husband just watched this and I looked up at him and he was crying like a baby. Literally. I have never seen him so moved. I truly believe its a "God Thing". I have watched this over and over. Seeng Avery play and hearing him wail on his sax gets me every time. We know he is headed for greatness and stardom. We can even foresee a movie about his life. He will end up being one of the greatest saxophonists in the world... if not. the greatest! You go, Avery! You are already a GOAT in our books!
5:31 to 5:37 what???? OMG
Agree Sue. Avery was just PHENOMENAL!
We’ve heard these suicidal resurrection stories thousands of times, it’s almost like AGT pushes these contestants to include a dramatic effect to their auditions and read out of a script, but that’s exactly what goes on this fake show! Your husband needs to wake up, they are making this generation a bunch of sensitive snowflakes
You chill a bit with the goat thing
Love your words. That's exactly what I felt. Hope he wins
Never back down against bullies. They don't deserve it.
Also, nicely done Terry. Terry 2024!
Terry apologized for his out of turn thing he was going on about the past couple of years, dude just wanted attention and he was never bullied by anyone he just faced different opinions.
@@after-lifeadvice7067 who wanted attention?
If this grand-performance was caused by the rehearsal retreat after bullying, if it weren't for the bullies we'd never see it
@@after-lifeadvice7067 What a total lack of respect from you. You clearly are the bully type, down to the YT comments. A heartless human seeking for some attention by stepping on others. Pathetic.
Full of authentic passion and soul
I love this kid! So humble and talented.
