- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1996 Mazda MX-6 M-Edition. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Brings a smile to my face to hear so many people say it was their first car. Mine too. 1993 Mazda MX-6 LS, automatic, Hunter green with saddle interior (no rear spoiler it was too big better looking without). That 2.5 liter 164 horsepower front wheel drive was impressive. 0-60 nothing special but 60-90 boom great mid range torque. Had it for college. 10 years, 190,000 miles, no complaints.
I drove the stick shift version of this car when I was in college while I was working at a dealership, this was the best stick shift car I have driven, it was so smooth, this video really brought back a lot of memory.
I agree with you! I had a 94 mx6 with a 50 speed ! It was a nice rather fun driver! I taught my girl how to drive stick in it! I miss it!

Mx6's are so underrated one of the best cars ever in my opinion their just fun! a manual with a KL-ZE V6 would be my dream car. but why were these front wheel drive? seriously? this thing would have tore up the drift world!
Mx-Media I can only imagine the fact that Mazda already had two seperate rear wheel drive sports cars had a lot to do with that. They’d already catered to that market. I could totally see this general body shape working with a midship engine though

Damn these cars are pretty much extinct in 2019. I use to see them a lot back in the early 2000s. Sucks how these old imports are fading away.

Manuals are great...in rural areas with long straight roads. Try driving a manual in a crowded city, especially a hilly one with lots of uphills/downhills.
I miss mine, was a lot of fun to just get in and drive around.
owned this car in high school back in 1998... loved it a lot, and have great memories in it when the distributor wasn't popping lol had a 1993 mx6 v6.. ive always wanted to swap a klze mx6 that would be dope.

I owned one of these back when they first came out. Red, V6 engine with a sunroof and spoiler. Was loaded except for the leather seats. Mine sat lower than this one and the factory rims were different. Better looking imo

Question my mazda mx6 is stuck in drive and ive tried every thing ive replaced the shifting shaft and its still stuck in drive any tips or possible resolution
This was my very first car, bought new but with the manual shifter. Unfortunately got repoed the day before my second daughter was born. Still miss it.

Ahhh! The M Edition! I always called them the "gold package". I have the manual 1994 LS V6. The clutch is the easiest I have ever driven. I mean it is waaaay easy. These cars have PEP! Would love this one 'cept its an automatic. But check out those "M" monogrammed seats! If I come across a stick, I may just have to buy it - seems these were made for me! :)
I love these cars especially because they're just like a Mazda 626 and they have the same engine I love that engine I had a 1997 Mazda 626 es the loaded option it had everything sunroof fog lights spoiler leather seats gosh I really miss the car but only main problem I had with it was that Damn engine light kept coming on for egr valve would not go off had it worked on so many times I just got tired of putting so much money into it trying get the light off so I could get it inspected but I really wanna find another one love these cars

manual is great when u live in a place without a lot of stop & go( had a ‘93 Eclipse 5 speed ).not so much commuting every day in it in NYC.

turn on radio . send power to antenna. wire is pushed into antenna and lifts it up.
stays lifted up until car is shut off then it drops

I Wonder if this car was ever going to be a part of the Luxury Brand Amati that Mazda Planned in the 90"s?...it sure looks plush and luxurious on the inside.

It's almost my car! I want to do the M edition conversion to my 95, but I won't do the cheezy woodgrain dash kit. At least mine is a 5 speed as well, that makes it a whole different car. My door panel leather is doing the same thing, kind of coming loose. And that one doesn't have M edition tail lights either! Makes me wonder if it was ever rear ended, but by the great shape its in IDK... I do love that burgundy color. Mine is green, and I would like to have it that color.

@1997FordProbeGT Well that's the thing...my friend never abused his Mazda in any way and kept up the maintenance pretty religiously...and it still caused migraines for him and me as well (having to continuously drive him to drop off his car at the shop//pick him up from the shop)
M-Edition is just a decal package with red tails. Nothing overly special about them compared to a non M-Edition. Collectors might really want it just for the rarity but that's all. Nice tour, thanks.
I thought the M-edition tail lights did not have the amber corners? Thats the way it is on mine.
Strange that the visor on the passenger side didnt have a mirror.. my medidion has one..
I had one of these cars when it first came out with the V6, automatic. The transmission is notoriously bad for these cars. Decent engine but be ready to replace the transmission if get one in automatic.

They had one with their all red tail lights I remember I used to drive one when I had to do errands at the dealership it was a 5-speed V6 top of the line that was a beast
It was the M editions that had the all red lights. The one in this video should have them, but were changed. They were just LS models with a few changed/gold bits tacked on.

The M Edition was only made in 1996 and only 2500 were made. Thankfully, I have one of them.
It's the only way to go at least for this car.

you people know that you can just start in L or 1 and works your way up in a proper automatic, that overall automatic is just better as a car, my friend had an mx6 manual and it died on the highway, and for all times she'd driven it the clutch'd gone out i believe more than once, now she has automatic car
