Florida is a challenge for this kind of flight. Seabreezes develop in the afternoon on both coasts. Each one moving toward the center of the state. As the ground warms and the ocean doesn't, the heating pulls air in.
So, even if you have a tailwind on the east coast, it will likely turn into a headwind somewhere around half way.
Perfectly worded! Of course... add a pinch of instability, while sucking up the moisture from our coastal waters, where that sea breeze meets the land breeze, only can go stratosphereward & viola- instant Florida afternoon thunderstorms. They pop up quickly, seemingly outta nowhere, 1-2 hrs. later, they disappear as fast as they materialized. Both coasts have more or less the same, just mirroring 1 another... Gotta love it here!

@@austintyler4555 Sometimes it's tethered sometimes it isn't. On his smaller flights it usually isn't, at least from what I remember.
well he's only going 40-50kmph so its not really much different than making a reel sitting out of your car through the window, holding the roof rails. Now that I think of it, Cars can go much faster without you feeling uncomfortable in that position, so not very risky. Its dangerous ofcourse because of height but yeah!
If these guys are going to play at those altitudes in the busy Florida airspace, they really should carry VHF radios. They also could benefit from ham radio's APRS.
I wouldn’t waste time on APRS. ADS-B would be wise given all the traffic up there.

For flights like this or even paramotoring in general, I wonder if a fuel gauge that's app connected or something like that would be beneficial. Also 1000% radio's would be at the very least super cool for us because you could record the audio and the shenanigans that will ensue, but would be useful for you guys because it will work for miles because of line of sight. Just my two cents as a future mechanical engineer and current Ham radio operator.

I'm a private pilot dropout and your videos have shown me a whole different side of aviation. Paramotoring seems like a much more affordable way to get into the sky, at least compared to typical fixed wing flight instruction costs.
Its about the same cost for initial education figuring in equipment costs. After that .. yeah, waaaaaay cheaper.

If you buy new paramotor and wing according to Tuckers website cost between 8000-12000 dollars. After that it would be lot cheaper and the fact that don't need any hanger even drive a car as long as fit the paramotor in the back. Kind of limited what weather can fly in that is for sure I still would like to get one also want to learn to hang glide too.
Check out ultralight planes! You don’t need a license to fly them, just need to check the specific laws in your area about altitudes you’re allowed to fly at and what not

Love your videos. Very well photographed and inspiring. Flly safe. I am a old pilot at 85 years old and started at 16. Never had the experiences you have seen. Too late to start powered parachutes.
Never to late. Me and my grand dad started doing it and he is 82. The oldest pilot is 98 ww2 vet. So don’t live life full of regrets do what you want.
When I first saw these about 15 20 years ago I was absolutely fascinated by them and now that they've come back into my life I most definitely want to get one and I will and you guys do a wonderful job traveling and staying close to one another as in touch with the phone good for you God bless all of you enjoying life

Another option would have been Miami to Naples, roughly following Rt. 41, with a refuel stop at the very interesting Dade-Collier Training Airport.
The only problem with starting in Miami is the fact it’s starting over a lot of congested airspace. But that would have been shorter

Sunset, always a big limitation. In my early days of kayaking, twice I got to the "take out" right at sunset. I decided to establish a sunset rule. No getting on a river I don't know after 12:00pm. so the day came we had a chance to run two rivers in one day. A friend of ours invited myself and friends to go to this "new river". When we got there I learned he had never run this particular river and it was already about 1:30pm. We were at the put in, and I imposed my rule and told my friends I'd wait at the take-out for them. Saved my bacon. It was a winter day and got dark about 4pm. No friends in site. At 4:30 one shows up. He had to leave and as I was leaving to go looking for them, another one showed up. A little busted up. had some issues on the river. We then left to look for the other one. Found him, he got chased by a bull hiking across a field and was a little more exhausted. My bacon saved by the rule. You will only be lucky until it runs out.

I use to do Rope Access, you can definitely rig up a leg rest with a simple sling if you wanted to. Unless concerned about having to emergency land.

I love these cross country/adventure type videos. A few years back I took that road from Port St Lucie to Okeechobee. Then took the Amtrak from there to Tampa. There is literally nothing out there

Many moons ago I did a similar cross country from Stuart airfield to the west coast of Florida as I was getting my pilot's certificate. That was in a C-152 though. The scenery hasn't changed too much.

Hi Tucker, this flight reminds me at my own flights in the 90s in Florida. Once I flew from Vero Beach around the Okeechobee Lake southwards and then to Venice. In the evening I flew back to Vero Beach, on the direct course north-eastward. But I flew a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, not a paramotor. And I remember those amazing turbulences I had on both flights, it was REALLY bumpy... But the views were amazing and I love the town of Venice.
You guys are truly taking advantage of living life to the fullest! What a wonderful experience. If I wasn’t so afraid of heights, this is definitely something I would take up as a hobby

Honestly, such an amazing and interesting hobby… you are literally your own little personal flying machine cruising wherever you wanna go within range. I know nothing about it but just recently caught my interest. I heard one guy talking about how rain or even mist can be dangerous, plus obviously high winds and storms. Hobbies that are life threatening i think id rather stay on the sidelines for, but very interesting
man I enjoy living vicariously through this dude. As a guy in my mid 30's with a family I am to worried something could happen to me if I went up there. If I was a bachelor, my wild side would have me conquering the local blue ridge mountains on one of these things.
Tucker, I have been watching your videos on an off for a long time. Your videos definitely give me inspiration to get into flying of any sort. I'm a beginner welder and aim for aerospace welding and engineering. Anything with flight has always been a big interest for me. I have been in a slump in my life for so long, I keep trying to find something to give me purpose and reinvigorate my life. The dream of flying in any way and to possibly be involved in the mechanical side as well I think will bring me back to good spirits. I hope this could be a way to turn my life into a more peaceful place.
Anyways, I notice a lot of your videos in florida are really close to me (lee county sherrifs waiting for yiu to land). I really hope I can meet yiu some day and get into this as soon as possible. You didn't just inspire me to paramotor, you were part of what inspired me to chase a better life. I was stuck in a rut thinking I would have to work 8-5 until I got too old to have fun, but I watched your content and was like, "wait this guy is my age, how come he can do that and I can't?" which is when it occurred to me that I _can_
So I teamed up with my boss and we started doing small-job contract IT work for local businesses on the weekend and after hours, and between that, my full time job, living cheap, and investing, I'm up to $80k. If my investments do what I think they're going to do over the coming years, I'm gonna have enough to fully pay for a modest house with a solar roof on a few acres of land, get an electric van, and a paramotor. Then with significantly less bills, I'll be able to work part time for the rest of my life and take up paramotoring as one of my many hobbies.
Your content inspires a lot of things in a lot of people. When I see that paramotor, I see freedom. When I see you, I see a person who made life work for him. All the best my guy.

Great video! I really enjoyed seeing Florida from this view. You should consider getting your amateur radio license. Not only will you be able to talk among each other, there are many amateur (ham) operators who can listen (and talk) from the ground. "Hams" can communicate without cell towers and don't have the same regulations as other commercial radio services.

You need radios. They are not overrated. I have talked with the ISS using a handheld directional antenna and a 5 watt handheld radio.
No, I don't use them for a reason. One, the need is not high. We got by fine with cell phones and keeping an eye on each other. Two, it complicates things with recording in flight audio. The complexity is not worth it.

Even without recording it, then I have two mics and two sets of speakers, wires, a harness, etc. I like minimalist and it's not worth having for me.
Dear Tucker. Pop in now and again and watch your vids for the past four or five years, and this has always been a corner of my mind hobby that I seldom dare to dream about. This year might be my year though. I have been in the tile trade for 20 years now, since i was a teenager, and finally had enough 'scraping by' and started my own company. It's doing alright, and just when I thought I had forgotten about how much fun this would be, here one of your videos pops back up on my feed. The dream comes to life again in my heart to fly. I wanted to be a pilot but had some medical things that wouldn't have allowed the level of flying I wanted to be involved in *long time desire to be a combat pilot either helo or jet* but this always seemed within reach. I wonder if you would do a fan and current groundbound admirer a small wish? I want to know how ... able a person would be to fly around the Fargo, ND area. It's pretty windy a lot up here, and my fiancee is concerned with my extreme desire to try this. I would be flying around this area, and possibly someday an across the state to the west end of North Dakota to Williston area, where my mother and father live. My father has a pilots license and I would love to just show up and land in his yard one day. Thanks for your content and keep flying with class!

Get some GMRS radios , they have incredible range with 5 watts at 2000 feet and you can have 50 watt mobile radios in chase vehicles , beats the neck out of cell phones . You can get All kinds of extras to make it user friendly for your needs. And monitor weather radio

I've always wanted to get into paramotors but where I live, the wind frequently blows 30+ mph. Many times, it can be 50+ sustained winds.

I wouldn’t even want to ride a motorcycle with 30mph winds. I would say a paramotor would definitely be unsafe in those conditions
Thats cool. I just spent spring break camping in the Depuis nature preserve, right next to that giant Lake Okeechobee. It was fun to sleep under the stars and watch all the aircraft fly over and see what they were using a flight tracker app on my phone

Do you realize how congested the Florida airspace is? As a CFI people like this scare me, especially after the fatal paramotor collision outside Houston. These are extremely difficult to see and they don’t talk to anyone.
What is the procedure when approaching the airport? Do you have to talk to the tower or get some clearances? How do you not get hit by by a plane?

I believe you’re not suppose to fly within 5 miles of an airport and only within G and E airspace and have to follow aviation right of way rules basically meaning you have less priority over everyone else in the air. Also not really suppose to fly over heavily populated areas otherwise you can fly wherever. Some certain places might need permission which is always a good thing to do so you don’t risk getting in trouble.
@@GlobalTossPot Small correction, powered heavier than air aeroplanes have the lowest priority in aviation right of way. I was never taught about the exact position of paramotors but the rule of thumb is who has more of an ability to get out of the way. With that in mind I think paramotors have right of way over regular airplanes
It's almost certainly an uncontrolled airport which depending on the airspace designation a radio isn't even a requirement most of the time.
Doesn’t look like there is a tower at this tiny airport. Probably just have to maintain visual separation from any aircraft coming or going. At that point in the evening, good chance of nobody there.

Cool video! One of y’all should have a radio tho. You guys really aren’t easy to see when you’re flying till we(airplanes)get right on top of you. I’ve had close calls before cause I couldn’t see y’all until it was almost too late.
