      @damnitimp8269 Před 3 lety +91

      @@elliot7753 no it isn't but it caused a great backlash to the Queen and the royals. Such huge backlash from the public can overthrow a monarchy if u know about history. And this was after the 'ANNUS HORRIBILIS' in 1992, the queen's worse year. If u don't know what that means, the queen is blamed for the fail marriages of her sons, princess Sara and princess Diana both divorces prince Andrew and prince Charles + the scandal with camilla, and the video of diana exposing the royal family. It caused a huge backlash to the Queen and that she almost lost the trust of the British community. and anything that post a threat to the monarchy is a threat to the life of the queen. Yet against all of that, after the annus horribilis and diana's sudden tragic death plus the public scrutiny, the Queen Elizabeth II lived through all of that and managed to keep her monarch in tact till now at the present day, now she is the longest reigning monarch in British history, among the longest ruling monarchs were Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth I (the virgin queen)
      Fun fact: Traditionally, reigning monarchs should change their names. But Queen Elizabeth kept hers. There are many Queen Elizabeth's in british history, even Queen elizabeth's mother was named Elizabeth. The difference is that Queen Elizabeth is Queen Regnant, or a queen who has the right to rule. Its different from Queen Dowager and Queen Mother. Queen Dowager is someone married to a current monarch or a widower. Queen Mother is like the title of Queen Elizabeth's mother. She is married to the monarch and is the mother of the future monarch. It would be perhaps the title qiven to Kate middleton if George, her son would be crowned as king.

Her strength was inspiring and I am no royalist or non royalist, but rather looked at her behaviour and values and it depresses me that she is gone, because it feels like another constant, another stable force, has gone and so much of what was constant and what was stable and what remained certain has gone in the past few years. She acknowledged the pain, uncertainty and fear we all faced yet did so in a stable, reassuring way with words that were honest of the grim reality but still gave hope.

      You're right, but in more ways than you think. "We will meet again" is undoubtedly a reference to the classic 1939 British WW2 song by Dame Vera Lynn, "We'll Meet Again". It's no coincidence that the Queen said these words. Her Majesty is gracefully recalling the last time we were asked to unite in such difficult times.
      Dame Vera Lynn, the singer, is still alive, by the way: she just turned 103.

    This speech meant so much to me and moved me to tears. In England we stood on our doorsteps and sang we'll meet again, and heard the voices of our neighbours. At that time I had my first child, we were alone and I didn't know when friends and family would meet and hold my baby. She always knew the exact words to say. I feel that she somehow would have the right words for today. The double rainbow over London to talk excitedly about new beginnings and to tell us she had met her spiritual goals and was on the bridge to a new world. Calling us to give a time to reflect and learn but also have faith in the new beginnings ahead. I feel she would've somehow knew exactly what to say to encompass everything we were feeling and touch our hearts. Thank you for being our Queen. RIP.

I have more respect for a nurse on shit pay dealing with this on the front line than I have the Queen or any of the royals. A lot of people in this country want a republic and you can see why.
