I'm 45. The only grandmother I ever knew died in 1987. My mothers passed away in 2003 and 2017.

I hated Christmas 2020 - it was really awful. Social distancing, lock downs, all led to a more sombre Christmas for me, especially not having the large family gathering around. The queen's message was the one uplifting moment for that Christmas. I remember after this speech, going out for a walk, and feeling better.

Just yesterday afternoon, I emailed BBC in the UK and asked if they could do a re-run of Her Majesty's previous Christmas messages. The BBC website is quite comprehensive but I eventually found 'Send Comments'. I did so, received a confirmation email, and later, another email saying my comments were being passed on to other departments. If the BBC receive enough requests, they may very well re-broadcast The Queen's old Christmas messages.

I find the Queen's speeches more heartfelt and moving than any given by the politicians in the U.S. I thank you, Happy Christmas.
Or politicians of many other countries.
Part of that is that in the US, officeholders can't endorse, or even appear to be endorsing, any particular religious approach or tradition, whereas the Queen not only may but should! From that position of rootedness and strength, she is free to be sincere and direct about her faith, and gracious to non-Christians in her country and around the Commonwealth, and the rest of the world.
@@dcse55 Remember, also, that the ruling monarch of the Commonwealth is required, by law, to be a member of the Church of England. Whereas politicians in the US are, seemingly, required to be self-important morons.

I have watched the BBC Documentary of The Crown. I was so impressed by a woman who has devoted her life time of service to her country. A daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a Queen. God Bless the Queen. I wish you and your family and you a wonderful and loving Christmas. I am sending a hug to you from California.
