This video demonstrates how easy it is to write modern music when you have some theoretical guidelines in place. Writing a minimalist rap beat in harmonic minor only takes a few minutes if you have the proper software. A neoclassical section will be more complicated, but crafting the chords is easy if you understand the theory taught in the last two videos. I am all about USING MUSIC THEORY, not just LEARNING it!
As is often the case though, I decided to "break the rules" and introduce chords from A Dorian into the final arpeggio section because I enjoy the sound of a IV when we are firmly in a minor or harmonic minor scale, it provides a boost of adrenaline and triumph!

Some goosebump lyrics for inspiration, man you're a genius
you know me, mr. lyrical miracle
😂 those lines were hilarious. Dude’s so corny, but I respect how you just put yourself out there and go for it @signal music studio
@@SignalsMusicStudio Your Rap Beat sounded like Polyohia or more closely to Charlie Robbins and Vitalism.
I mean, today's Prog do have a lot of rap influence
I died laughing but came back to life with that fire. Makes it much easier to remember!
you all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
I feel like any band could just have Jake as their guitarist and they'd get really popular, because it seems like writing great songs is a Tuesday afternoon for him.
You should be ashamed for making it look like so easy man :D
for real....
but were lucky he put it out there ^^
Beardstank missed his calling... natural hypeman
so when’s that rap album coming 🔥🔥🔥
you make some of the best and easiest to understand videos, awesome job man just in time cause i really like harmonic minor.
MC Jake.
Gangsta guitarrist

I knew I reckognized something familiar in that part! Lol
By who? I tried to search it on CZcams and it said it was by the Animals, is that the one?
@@elvatikan1254 it's the most popular version
and the first song that comes to most people's mind when they hear the Am-C-D chord change
Hahaha I didn't actually expect lyrics on the rap beat :D Awesome
I assume the next video is on combining the two to write epic progressive shred-hop?
Can someone please make a progressive shred-hop album? Or has that been done already?
a duckduckgo search gave me tommy grissom. electronic shred hop. its... surprisingly normal.

your song are sick, your lessons as well, keep it up with all of these great tips
Those lyrics were so deep. It has some very interesting things to say about life and depression. Its great to see such deep and meaningful rap!
Haha cool! Try using 808’s in your rap beats ;) tuning the kick gives a similar effect but its most effective to layer a kick over 808s and tune the 808’s to follow the bass melody!
That neoclassical song completely blown me away! You brought me back at high school, when I listened to symphonic metal (Rhapsody (of fire))
Loved it!
This channel just consistently puts out top notch content. Thanks man!
You're an absolute genius.
IM FINDIN THA SCALE, IM TAKIN THA 7TH, IM MAKING IT HIGHER.
Mother of God that's hilarious.
Mastery is the ability to make very complex things seem very simple. Well done.

Amazing video man...thank you so much for making these..this is some slick stuff....
This channel so good man.
that rap beat was absolutely sick, well done man. and the guitar piece is a great exercise for overall picking as well.
you're my hero, keep it up.
Jake, you're pure gold, I have a blast watching your videos, there's so much to learn in every video. It looks so natural, very enjoyable, jeep it coming haha, hugs from the other side of the world. Thank you so much!
Loving these videos. I was a composition major and learned more here than I did in college. Having the education helped me to understand this much easier, but now I'm learning the things I always wanted to learn that they didn't teach me in college.
What an amazing guy, people ought to go through your whole channel because of the gems like this one. Also, didnt expect the rap bars to be this jaw-dropping hahaha. Always supporting you man.
Thanks man, this was a good lesson, I saw all your videos about this scale, thanks!!!
I just found your channel and MAN you are awesome! A wonderful teacher, tongue in cheek humor, seriously mad skills, boundless talent. I am an old man and I want to say thanks for passing all this great info in a well crafted format to a younger generation in order to keep the guitar and creative songwriting alive! I wish I had your channel back in high school in the 70's. Thank you again!
Finally, rap that we deserved! :P Great content man, keep it up!
There is so much practicable content in almost all your content. Thank you, Jake.
Technically all of the content if we choose to focus on many types of instruments.. which I know we all should.
Great video man! love when you do vids like this :)
The effortless ease and light hearted manner in which you teach and play just makes me 😂 you are badass dude
Thank you so much! Stay blessed!
Jake as always you are the man. Your humor, your musical sense and taste always on par or under. This from a guy who never golfs. Thanks my brother of another mother.
You are amazing! I always learn something new from your videos 😀
Loves me some harmonic minor. I've been doin harmonic minor leads for a long time but you have shown me how to get the chords out of that awsomeness, thanx a helluvalot
By far, one of now FAVORITE music channels. You, Rick Beato, and Adam Neely are my holy musical trinity. But, I think YOUR CHANNEL is the easiest to digest. Thanks, Jake!
I love you! You’re awesome! Great content man
Great stuff man! I'd love to see a similar series on hungarian minor, which is just harmonic minor with a sharp four for those that aren't familiar with the scale. Always been a favorite of mine.
i really dont like rap music but when you started rapping explaining the chords, that really got me!!
Totally love the Harmonic Minor rap tune!
This is fast becoming one of my favourite UTOOB channels. Great work, thanks for the inspiration and the knowledge.
I like that neoclassical stuff! If you can, do more on that in the future!
Because of you I'm now writing my own music feeling inspired and elated instead of staring at a stack of tab books making minimal progress through frustration. Thank you Jake.
That sweet-ass bend in the neoclassical section is a damn good example of how throwing simple licks in the middle of more complicated sections can stand out so well and add great contrast that only benefits the whole piece. Nice.
Amazing lesson!!! you make it sounds easy!! good music theory
Damn!! Sounds amazing Jake!
Well done!
Neo classical song sounds like the boss music for Final Fantasy 7. Great videos! Your presentation and delivery of the material makes everything easy to digest. Thank you!
You sir a freaking LEGEND!
Dude, you're freakin' awesome. I didn't really know where to go next, but it seems harmonic minor is the path im taking. Thank you man.
One BIG Thumbs up for mentioning Symphony X.... Really great video dude...These lessons are just priceless!!!
Top notch content as usual!
You are awesome, i'm learning a lot from your videos, greetings from Brazil !
Just had to say - dude your videos are Amazing
Very well done my friend. Truthfully and concisely articulated. Your explanations and demonstrations are executed with such precision that I can infer your utilization of musical theory understanding, and how you used understanding that concept of "understanding theory" to your advantage in construction of this video lesson. Amazing! And thank you for your work, and your willingness to share. :)
Great work!
I watched this video couple of years ago. But i came back today as i was stuck in composition which used harmonic minor scale. Thank you again, i am moving forward with my composition again. Much love from Nepal
I have that rap on repeat. Pure 🔥!
Bravo!, Jake! :) Well done!
Amazing!!
Wow, amazing. More lessons around harmonic minor and neoclassical please :)
Thank you very much jack. U taught me things enough to write good song.
You are really great. I love your videos and the way you explain things. Cheers from Germany, Axel.
I don't usually comment on the tutorial stuff, but man you really are next level! something really extra ordinary, unlike other tutorial pages that over complicate very simple stuff you just make things so simple in a way that is unexplainable.... Guitar tutorial, music theory, song writing, chord formation and even the Music production all in a single video that too very effortlessly. Wwoow 😍😍
lol this is so great! Educational and hilarious. Love your channel, man.
This is by far one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen in social media. I like it a lot. If only I have money to spare I will support you in Patreon, but the wife is strict. Good job Jake. You're my hero now. Cheers from Manila.
It's a beautiful piece!
Your videos are incredible. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
More educational music theory rap!
Great Video man..this is the scale I like the most. And you gave great tips and tricks. 👍
Hi Jake,
I came here hoping to learn something...and I have.
All me gear will be on eBay this afternoon!!
You just make it look so easy and enjoyable...
Thank you for the great content. Love your work sir.
You are the greatest content creator on CZcams. Learning music theory has never been this fun
Oh man fantastic!
Well I'm not in high school but I'm blown away regardless :)
That rap beat was actually really solid. Awesome video man
Thank you so much teacher Jake, I would like to borrow this lesson to apply with my chord progression & solo in my song. Love your teaching & your channel.
Greaaaat videos!!!! 🤘🤘
Wow, here before 1000 views - that never happens! Anyway, great video as always Jake. Thanks. The useful thing is that these techniques are simple, but I'm constantly thinking to myself about how to combine the ideas from different videos to create something more interesting and original.
Wow, how have I never seen this channel. I am never had a proper music teacher to teach me theory, and for the love of "god" (metaphorically speaking) when I started learning simple Major and minor scales and the modes to compose my riffs life became so much easier, but most importantly my compositions became so much more melodic and just plain better. I've been playing guitar off and on for almost 30 years, but I've only made an effort to learn music theory for the last year or two, and if I'd of found this channel I'd be twice as far along as I am. @Signals Music Studio I just want to say WOW man, you are an excellent musician and instructor, especially for metal guitarists like me. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing, the best music theory channel in my opinion
OH MY GOSH SO MANY COOL IDEAS NOW.
The tone you've got while describing the descending scales sounds like all of the solos off of Yes's album Drama, and the bridge sounded like a Muse song. This was pretty sweet.
Awesome Rap duo!!!!!
one of my first rap tracks I did was in harmonic minor, back in the 20th century... didn't know back then that I can mix natural and harmonic to get more organic melodies. Just used harmonic all the way with the evil diminished chords
Can we get a petition to award this man a Rap Name so that he can start Rapin and Partyin like a Rock-Rap star?
Damn this channel is so dope, after I when so many videos teaching modes and guitar techniques, I see this rap beat just blow my mind. Really a great job and much music theory
Keep it up and support!
i'm not into rap at all but the fact you can throw that in there was part of why i love your vids haha keep it up
sounds amazing! kudos
Hello Jake, Thank you so much for your amazing videos filled with edifying information and lots of laughs. Missing you 💔
This is so funny and educational A.F. Your GIFT brother is the way you speak to all of us in our language. It makes all the difference. I am recording a bagpipe/folk/metal album and your teachings have made me rethink it all. Thank you!!
Respect, man. Great teacher.
Thanks to you JAKE
that I am learning so much .
Credit goes to you for all my new acquired kowledge and skill❤❤❤
