Each and everyone of us has the right to express their opinion, even though others may not agree with it. God made us all different for this reason, otherwise the world would be very boring!!!

Wow, it was hard to hold back the tears there Steve.
Elvis sang from his soul, but Larry sure spoke from his heart here, they truely were soulmates, these intimate stories Larry tells are told with the utmost love, respect and empathy for the man he was honoured to call his friend.
As Larry speaks he allows the listener to join in the conversations he had with Elvis, the man, not the image, and that although years ago seem only like yesterday. He allows us inside Elvis,s mind , allows us to sense his feelings, his hopes , his goals , and most of all be witness to Elvis baring his soul.
Every story Larry told was as informative as it was insightful, as intriguing as it was comprehending, and as heart warming as it was heartbreaking.
I can fully understand why Elvis felt he needed Larry around, Elvis,s mind was way too inquisitive to be starved of nourishment of the spirituality fulfilling kind, Larry allowed him to be himself, the man he wanted to be not the perceived notion many thought he was.
The whole interview was enthralling from start to finish, and you yourself I might add allowed your guest to feel at ease throughout.
    Thanks Steve.

    Grazie a Larry ❤❤❤

That's what I used to think, but then again, do you really think there are any more stories for Billy to tell? After All the King's Men and Revelations of the Memphis Mafia and MMK, what's left? Some of their videos are only 5 minutes long, and they've pretty much run out of things to talk about. These days they usually just answer questions. It would be great to hear if he would talk about something we haven't heard, but I don't think there's anything left.

When Larry said only 2 other people knew about the changes he was wanting to make, Vernon and Charlie Hodge, I want to say Billy Smith also knew something about it. But, he also talked about taking a break in Hawaii to get back in focus.

@@debsmith1956 who told you there were three people that tried to get what they could from Elvis? Ginger I could maybe see. Larry, what did he possibly get , or was he trying to get from Elvis? In fact, Larry had brought some new books for Elvis to read on the tour he was supposed to go on, and Elvis was so excited he wanted Larry to bring them by the night before. Larry gets a lot of negative guff from some of the Memphis Mafia guys, because they didn't relate to him. However, the important thing was that Elvis did relate to Larry, and I'm happy that Elvis had one person he could have long, deep, existential talks with in Larry. I'm sorry that some of the Mafia guys didn't like Elvis having that special bond with Larry but they could have talked to Elvis about that stuff too, but didn't.

You gotta hear him tell it but ehst was in ig was not whst the three of yhem said tk the guy who authored it. My guess of the three is 1. The Colonel he just wanted to make money. Hell who would get Vernon to sign over control of Elvis likeness on the day he died.2. Ginger- she just wanted to say she with Elvis. Noone from the Memphis mafiaiked her or liked them together. Billy Smith says to this day he was sick to death of Ginger being around Elvis. Had Ginger checked ezrlier msybe he wouldnt have died. 3. I just love Larry Gellar. All of his interviews about his long friendship with Elvis ooze with love and admiration of the king. I think Larry really knew Elvis more than anyone including his family and other close friends. Larry and Elvis were on the same page spiritually speaking. It isn't until we get to know what a person is inside that we can say we truly know them. Their unique friendship was based on their mutual love for spiritual truth. If Elvis and Pricilla had ever got to know one another on that same level, they would never had separated. Surely GOD lead Larry and Elvis to meet each other. Elvis needed Larry's friendship and visa versa.

I just received both of his books for my Birthday in July and then my son came in a few days later & as a surprise gave me another Larry Gellar book , 1st edition and signed by him. I haven’t even opened it yet because I want too peruse it and wrap it back up since I have a duplicate. It was a thoughtful gift from my adult son who is also an Elvis fan & works the internet to get me items I’ve tried for forever to get, but he had the technical skills and I love him deeply for going out of his way. Wonderful interviews with Larry. You get the best people. I’ve written to him & he has replied. He loved Elvis so much & it shows. I’ve never heard a bad word come out of his mouth about Elvis. That’s a true friend indeed. Can you imagine Elvis healthy & happy again & touring singing Gospel & spiritual songs for the World to hear & see? What a beautiful gift he would have given us. So sad sometimes that I just cry, but other times I read & listen to stories of him inspiring many of us already. He’s done it to me. I felt as if I didn’t cry at a point in my life I would get sick. I’ve been the happy but stoic one. Then I listened to the new Elvis in Nashville CD. Listened to Bridge Over Troubled Water & How the Web Was Woven stripped raw with Elvis’s voice right up front to hear without a lot of noise around him & I cried for an hour & 1/2. But it was so cathartic for me. Every week I listen to his Gospel songs and I get my dose of his music everyday. Sometimes I laugh, other times I cry or dance or sing. What a beautiful gift he left us. To sing with such passion and being so emotive that he reaches down into ones soul & grabs it and won’t let go till we get the message. It’s an inspirational gift that just keeps on giving for generations to come. May he RIP & be singing & happy with his family and full of God’s Grace. Thanks for all the work you do setting up these interviews for us. It’s greatly appreciated & hopefully you’ll get a cup of tea soon. 😂😂🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼☕️

The thing is, I saw Larry telling the same story in a video, and in that version he said that he told Elvis Why not take a year off and go to Hawaii, and get healthy, etc. and then Elvis said, That's a good idea, that's what I'll do. Here, he's saying it was Elvis' idea. Makes me wonder what to believe. Also, everybody else says that when they even mentioned the pills, Elvis would get furious and tell them to mind their own business. Here, Larry says that Elvis brought it up himself, and acknowledged that he had a problem, something everyone else says he would never do. Don't know what to believe, because if someone admits they have a problem, that's half the battle right there, but everyone else says Elvis would never admit that.

Katgirlblue..you are right. Elvis had a problem. The problem was he was very ill..many illnesses for which he took many meds and which had unwanted side effects Another problem is the people around never acknowledged his ilnesses preferring to say he was an abuser of the meds. The problem is he needed meds just to live and function normally. Elvis came up with the ideas as to change the direction of his life..getting healthy, making movies, firing Parker, touring Europe, and having a gospel tour with the Stamps..all Elvis ideas.Larry and Chatlie were his friends and understood him. Billy was a semi-Judas. Others such as Red and Sonny were Judases. Martty and Lamar were bearers of false infotmation and were jealous if Elvis. What a great interview, especially after weeks of depressing covid news in Australia. Yes I would love to have been in the car listening to Elvis singing along to Only The Lonely. Amazing. And yes we've heard some of these stories before, but gee it was extra special hearing it on Elvis The Ultimate fan channel. Special thanks Steve for asking my questions, and Larry for responding so beautifully ❤

We, we, we, me, me, me!! Sorry, but who was the star Elvis or Larry?? It may all of been true but I would have liked to hear Elvis's version of these happenings . I just can't take in everything he says, maybe the only thing he was right about is that they all used and misused Elvis ( him included)!!!
The Beatles just made him realize that he was still the best and had so much talent to unleash and that's what he did in the '68 Come Back Special and what followed.
He didn't need Larry Gellar to become special, he was already a beautiful soul from birth!
    Thanks Steve!

16:53 Look how good Elvis looked as late as May of that/'the' year. Of course not at his peak....but certainly not someone that couldn't turn it around. I saw a documentary one time about Jimi Hendrix where one of the people interviewed said that Jimi CHOSE to 'go'. He called it an "alpha jerk"....path he 'decided' to take....even as an 'experiment' to SEE if 'Jimi Hendrix' could die. I would NEVER disrespect Elvis by saying that he 'chose' to leave us....but I DO feel that he wasn't very motivated to keep 'going on'. As Sonny said, after Hawaii it just seemed that Elvis had and saw no more mountains to climb. 'Aloha'....STILL one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, singular achievements in world entertainment history. I'm tempted to say in world history in general.

Larry has told the story about the incident at the hotel with Parker in Louisville a million times, what Larry doesn't say is Elvis didn't want to do what he didn't want to as for working he wanted and needed to work many forget that the Lisa Marie cost him a million dollars which he borrowed and was in debt as he spent money as fast as he made it , Parker was a brilliant promoter but a poor manager, its obviously in 77 he was in decline just look at the set list through out 77 the shows were filled with more solo's from the band and less of him singing,
My question has always been why Vernon didn't do more to help his son ? Of course Larry likes to insinuate that he was closer to Elvis than anyone truth is he was probably on the outer?? Through out the 70's Elvis was in no shape to do any movies he may have dreamed about them but he knew it was never going to happen, Elvis resented the Beatles for what ever reason remember what he said to Nixon about the Beatles and particular Lennon in 1970 .
Parker made Elvis extremely wealthy as himself but Parker had entwined himself to a point Elvis couldn't afford financially to be rid of him and Elvis knew that .

Marty Lacker said that Paul McCartney and Elvis took turns playing Elvis' piano. It is highly unlikely that Elvis had a left-handed guitar or bass for Paul McCartney to jam on, unless Paul knew how to play a right-handed guitar held upside-down (which some lefties can do).

  • @bvallelunga
    @bvallelunga Před rokem

I'm sorry! It's heartbreaking to hear Larry say that Elvis hated making those movies. But what did Elvis do about it? Nothing. He could have said to Wallis/Paramount/Parker, "Find me a half-decent script or I won't do any more of your movies. I'm going home, call me when you've found one." But he din't. He could have shown his displeasure by fumbling his lines so often that it would have caused a delay it it's release and cost a bundle to do all those retakes of a scene. So it's his fault. Wallis and Paramount would have probably sued him for not living up to his contractual obligation. But I'm sure that his movie contract never contained a clause that sti[ulated thatn he had to make bad movies. Even if the case when to court, Elvis would have won. But it wouldn't have because of all the negative press that Wallis and Paramount would have gotten. I love Elvis but he had no backbone. He also could have refused to sing those studip songs in each movie. No one said that RCA had to release a full album of 10 songs with each movie. Elvis at the very least could have insisted that it he'd sing no more than five songs for each movie and the other five would be original recording on each album. . That way he would still fulfill his RCA recording contract. Case in point, Tomorrow Is a Long Time written by Bob Dylan was included in the Spinout album as a bonus song. And the idiots at RCA didn't even see the great potential of the song and release it as a single. There are many things that Elvis could have done. Once again Elvis had no backbone. The same thing with not touring the world like he wanted to.

The man has never to my knowledge spoke one unkind word about Elvis Presley so like Ann Margaret he gets my respect.
