Wow! This is definitely the greatest documentary on Evita ever made! Absolutely the definitive one. What sets it apart from the countless, more recent documentaries out there are the following: 1. Interviews with living family and associates: From Eva Peron's own sister (who strikingly looks and smiles like her) to the woman who gave Eva her first stage acting gig to various government associates (one of which lends great insight into Eva's priorities) to her personal hairstylist, this is easily the most priceless aspect of this documentary. Filmed in 1972, many people in Eva's life were still alive and their words about Eva come from first-hand experience with her personally. In more recent docs, these living people are limited to no more than 1 or 2. There are at least 7. 2. This was produced way before the famous British Andrew Lloyd Webber musical was even thought of (original concept album released 1976; West End stage production 1978; original Broadway production 1979). Many modern docs are based on the musical or at least inspired by the musical which means the narrative outside of what's contained within the musical's book is rarely explored. Here, there are many details that add much nuance to this already complex and intricate tale. 3. This is so much more detailed but remarkably concise. The narration is very well written and beautifully relayed by Diana Rigg. It never feels sensationalized and although it's alluded to she is never outright called a "whore." Something that--although true that she was called that by some--is often framed as a fact along with her sleeping her way to the top which I feel is a sexist bit of nonsense as Juan Peron would not have been who he became had it not been for her yet nobody ever says that he slept his way to the top. It's a pet peeve. Not anything that triggers me but it's nice that they don't demean her here in that manner as commonly seen in most documentaries. 4. The only con is that you have to be in the mood for something heavy in order to best enjoy it. The great amount of detail and the quick pace, as well as the immensity of this woman's storied life, can make the abrupt ending feel incomplete but the overall experience and knowledge one gains from this is worth it. 5. It's very engaging even though it is way less emotional than other documentaries. It's very one-note throughout and contains no emotional ups and downs but her story speaks for itself and doesn't need emotional gimmicks to enhance its dramatic value. 6. This features a lot of the usual archival footage seen in other docs but it also includes full color (not sure if it was later colorized or if the original footage is in color. If colorized, it's among the best I've ever seen) video footage taken by Eva's own brother during her European tour. Some of that footage I have never seen and I've seen just about everything on Eva Peron. 7. It contains a snippet of what is probably the only footage in existence of her being interviewed. If you believe that a poor, illegitimate, pretty, very ambitious young woman with no connections/training and only a sixth-grade education in early 20th century, machismo, class-conscious Argentina (where women couldn't vote or had many rights) _did not_ sleep around or utilize the casting couch to get ahead, especially as an aspiring model/actress of that era... I have a bridge to sell you, as the saying goes.

Great documentary. I am from Argentina and a fan of Diana Rigg, so I love she was the narrator of this film about a personslity from argentine history. I heard about Queen of Hearts many years ago and I have always been trying to get information about it. The first I found in CZcams was a fragment of two minutes. I am glad I could see the complete documentary. Thank You very much for sharing it!
You forgot to mention that Eva Duarte and her husband Domingo Perón, were great admirers of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, he killed thousands and thousands of people, and the monster Adolph Hitler. She was just a very money hungry woman, that also lusted for power.
At 20:54 we hear a sample from Nelly Omar singing "Marcha es el pueblo," which shares its melody with "And the Money Kept Rolling In" from Webber's musical. All these years, I thought it was his own original composition, but it seems all he did was put it in 7/8 time...

Edit: In the days after posting this, I realized that the title of the song is just "Es el pueblo." ("It is the people.") I saw a poorly-titled CZcams video that did not separate the title from the genre, hence my error.
@Javachacin There are quite a lot of Lloyd-Webber's tunes that "owe something" to others. It's not that unusual for composers, whether consciously or unconsciously, to be influenced by other melodies.

In fact, Buenos Aires was dubbed "the Paris of South America." So, I'm not sure what you mean by your statement. Cultural, perhaps? As far as culture, that too was said to be at an all-time high with workers enjoying a high standard of living which often directly affects the social attitudes and culture of a region, and for the better. Would be great if you could clarify your statement.
