- Hello and welcome to Lord Fenton Gaming plays Neverwinter Nights. I am your host Lord Fenton. In today's Neverwinter Nights build video, I am going to be building the Power Fist Build. This build does contain two classes. The Fighter for five levels and Monk for 35. So this level 1-40 Monk build will use nothing but unarmed attacks. With this Monk Fighter build you can get into the epics and wreck foes like crazy. This build is good for level 1-20 leveling too since lesser exp penalty. With the Power Fist build your speed will be crazy, even more with the boots of speed. After building this Epic Monk Fighter to full level 40 you will have the power of your fist against foes who can die by critical hits or immune to them. It is the unarmed version of that build minus the Weapon Master due to the fact that Unarmed Weapon Feat is not a weapon feat required for Weapon Master. Thanks. Crazy thing is monk speed with the speed of boots is really great and the damage with nothing but your fist is awesome. Just gotta look for 10+ or so gloves to do some serious damage.

BTW, i gave wasteland 3 another try, tried playing a bit with the settings (play it on pc), and even with those fps drops and bugs, i'm still enjoying it, it's too damn good.

Thanks. I'm digging my requests up before starting up level 1-20 or if I find an NWN 2 mod than start those up to test em out.
As for Wasteland 3 if it's still buggy the devs normally fix this in many months. Heck Wasteland 2 got fixed and only towards the end crashes happens. It is still a fun game.

love monk builds, sometimes they are tough to play in game though because of the lack of armor.
It's a nice trade off and yet monks in this game built right can do some serious damage to foes. The speed on this monk with boots of speed is great.
remembered playin monk and arcane archer back in the original, though i remember also getting stuck as a monk vs all the other monks that jump you, hopefully this will handle that flawlessly
This monk build will wreck foes a new one. Neverwinter Nights does have some killer builds. I hope Baldur's Gate 3 has some too in the future when I dabble in them.
@@LordFentonGaming trying it now, so far pretty much one shotting everything, granted i just got out of the initial area and heading into 4 way split now, but lookin promising
I was struggling with my 100% monk build. The secret sauce was those 4 initial fighter levels to get the unarmed focus and specialty. That made a world of difference! Also, the power strike is a requirement for great cleave, which is AMAZING. I've killed up to 6 foes one after the other just because of the great cleave feat. So fun to watch them all fall down.
The Fighter class is great for the feats and those feats will help later on. Glad you are owning it as a Monk.
Ki strike works with gloves. The gloves add to your BAB while the Ki makes your fists magical.

Ok build for single player, will be smashed on pvp servers. Some tips:
1) put 40 in tumble and save 3 skillpoints
2) 1 lvl of wizard on low lvls or 1 lvl of rogue on epics(for umd)=free use of scrolls
3) 20 monk is enough if you don't wanna go full sr build
4) with dev go for other weapon, unarmed got bad crit range and you can't put keen on gloves
5) test your builds with strong enemys, that drow warrior at the end got only 23 ab, i don't think it's possible to lose that fight with any lvl 40 character

Just say speed is not the only thing that is messed up and I liek it.
Hey (again), i have a question about monks wearing gloves/gauntlets... According to the wiki...
"NWN has various standard "monk" glove/gauntlet items with attack bonuses often coupled with damage bonuses, allowing unarmed attacks combat advantages similar to those available to those wielding weapons. However, a monk will notice item-related disadvantages to unarmed combat"
But a feat page says (Improved unarmed strike)...
"Equipping an item in the gloves or bracers slot has the same result of stopping the attack of opportunity incurred by unarmed attacks. This often reduces the usefulness of this feat to just serving as a prerequisite for other feats."
So... should the unarmed monk wear gloves or not? 🤷♂️
I am going to say wear them until you get Ki Strike 3. You will need two feats in the epic levels to get +5 magic fist. If you want to go beyond 5 to 10 than gloves are fine. Otherwise avoid them.
@@LordFentonGamingthanks, i made a lvl 40 monk, with magic fists +5, the attack stats are still confusing to me, so i can't really tell the difference in attack with or without gloves, am just gonna follow the advice and wear off the gloves to "help" (idk) the unarmed feats, although it looks the same to me 😅
Mind answering some noob questions?
1- Why not go lv40 monk? (IK it can be for preference, but I was wondering if it isn't better being a 100% monk);
2- What about focusing on DEX, then going for weapon finesse?;
3- Fury of Blows or Increased Power Attack? And why?;
I'm planning on making a monk, almost like yours, but it being pure monk (I like the idea of a fast attacking character, with really good reflexes), but I'm still lost in the game. Even thought it is an old game, with a basic premise, it's a game with a lot to unveil.
1) If you want to not get hit with that experience penalty or go pure than monk is fine. I did 5 levels for the fighter specialization feats to give that fist more pop. A pure monk will miss those two feats. They will still good.
2) Dex based is great for dodge and any feats that gives you dex bonuses. Dex is great also for those reflex saves. Now oyu get Weapon finesse your first will require dex not str for bonuses if you go that route.
3) Think of these two this way. Fury of blows quick attacks while Power Attack is more damage when it connects yet you can miss. So you want quick hits or risky attacks that you can do damage or miss.
It takes awhile to master the game. If this is your first time do the original campaign than the rest of the other ones.

Very unfortunate that weapon master cannot use unarmed as its specialized weapon. That would be awesome.
That would of been great if the Weapon Master can count unarmed as that.
Wait do the monk gloves conflict with the ki fist bonus??? I have ki fist 1 and am wearing +5 sonic gloves. Is that a mistake??
If the gloves gives +5 damage magical you can use. For Ki Strike it goes to 3 if I remember. Improved boosted that to 4 and beyond. So it depends on your level and getting the improved feats. So your alright as long as you go bare fisted or if the gloves are better on the magical side than your fist.
Which monk is better: kama or unarmed? From a min max perspective at high epic lvls
I am going to say Kama is the way to go for a min/max setup.
Comparable to my shadowdancer/fighter/rouge that focuses on shield and fist

I will say Kama. Kama are insane on monks in NWN 1. I just did unarmed for those who wants to go the pure fist route.

Am I missing something? My monk's damage stops at 2-12. Despite the information stating that it should be at 20 damage at level 16, but I went past that.
Go for gloves that is enchanted. Those should help on the damage.
@@LordFentonGaming Guess Gnome and Halfling aren't allowed to have fun. I swear the game devs just want you to play human every time.
Back in the day some races did get the shaft on certain classes and other times excel. These days most races in certain D&D games now can do well in most cases. Case point is Baldur's Gate 3. NWN 1 still a great game just got to figure if your at a disadvantage and turn that around.
can I make monk in dragon form ?
If you can get the Dragon Shape Feat, 30+ Wisdom on your Druid than add some monk levels your good to go.
Elf works for this build?
It can work. You will have to miss out on one feat and improvise on the leveling to get to those classes.

Mobility is useless if you maxed tumble. Its only gives you bonus against attacks of opportunity.
Felt it is the right fit for this build...
@@LordFentonGaming The AC bonus from mobility also doesnt count toward the +20 dodge AC cap. This feat is really useless for monk, i would pick magic resistance or reflexes any day.
I dont get that many stats point, when go into fighter level 2, you have 7 points, i only got 3. that's weird. im using current latest version.
What is your Int at? If you have a lower Int than I have in this build you will get less skill points when you level up.

@@cpamiseso I stored exactly 4 points when I did character creation. That could be the issue your having. If you spent all 4 than yeah you will have 3 for fighter level.
@@LordFentonGaming oh Lord as well, I have lower final results for HP, around 12hit points difference. everything else (even the spellcraft 1 mistake) I re-did altogether from zero. not really a thing, still killing like a rambo, it's just, 12hp is fun to have (or not).
Why no circle kick though
It's not a bad feat. Problem is the free attack is not instant like cleave ones are. At times in the original version that free attack can be long reaching instead of close by when you need it the most.
I don't get it! Is persuade optional??
I always say optional because people will not want a talking skill than use it for something else. For example they could go for open lock, spellcraft or anything else that is cross class or no class skill.
