Neverwinter Nights Shifter Druid Monk Build

- Hello and welcome to Lord Fenton Gaming plays Neverwiner Nights. I am your host Lord Fenton. In today's Neverwinter Nights build, I am dabbling in the Shifter build. Yes I am making a Shifter. It's a very good tool box class. Another words if one situation transforms into another so does the shifter. This build will have Druid, and Monk levels too. One for a few buffs while Monk levels for AC since Monk AC is Wisdom based. I will gain all the forms including:
Undead
Construct
Outsider
Dragon
Yes I said dragon and the Shifter does benefit from the Dragon form. I will also show off some forms that I've shifted into and do the Dragon combat demo to see how being an Shifter helps. Remember if Dragon form is BANNED on the server you joined the other three forms plus the ones you gain as you level up your Shifter levels for this prestige class will help fill in the Dragon void. this is so beautiful but how do you make the transformation of the dragon and can make fire ???
i do have the dragon but i cant make the fire if i m in the transformation ??
@@saskiadethiere6529 From the hot bar right click if on PC, consoles might be different. Than select special abilities and pick dragon form. If you want the fire pick an empty hot bar space and do the same thing.

liked this build so far so.. i might be picking this class for my Nintendo Switch as Monk/Druid/Shifter had a strong healing, range spells and melee attacks rolled in one.. so.. i will be starting out as monk for the moment now
Cool and glad your picking it up. It's a fun game. Monks are really good. I've built this monk build with Kama's and it's fun to play.

@@kittywampusdrums4963 This game got release in December of last year for the switch, ps4 and xbox one. The Switch and Xbox One can do online worlds while PS4 not so much.
I like that you have some really thought out builds, but I kinda wish you had a summary of the build with feats somewhere.

@@LordFentonGaming I wonder have you ever considered a Bard, Red Dragon Disciple, Black Guard? It seems like the charisma with the bard/guard is nice and the stats of the RRD is always nice.
@@OneEyedOneHornedGian That is a really good setup due to Bard's required Cha and the Blackguard can benefit from it. As for RDD well the 10 levels owns. It would make one nice evil character to play.
@@LordFentonGaming My first thought was a pally but the lawful conflicts with the bard requirement. I like the idea of getting wings, but if I want to max BAB I need to put two of my RDD off till 21 & 22.
I'm thinking of getting four lvls of Black Guard before 20 so I get the extra attack per round, but I don't know that I care too much for the guard's other skills so that may be all I get. Though sneak attacks can be fun with a lvl 26 bard I'd get two bonus feats.
Druid and Monk my favorite two lol.
I did the monk for the AC bonus you get with high wisdom. Makes survival much more better for this build.
I am starting to have problems with this build near the middle of act 2. Now I went unarmed as I heard a ton of shapes used the unarmed. Now I have no problem hitting the creatures but in manticore form I still can't actually hurt anything. With the plus 3 gloves of yellow rose or w.e I should be able to damage succubus and zombies but they absorb most of the damage. I either get you can't hurt with current weapons or I manage to hit for just 7 or 8 damage. I have no clue how to fix this atm. Another problem is....I read that someone said eventually the dragon breath of the wyrmling dragon form thin can do up to 20 damage to all creatures. The highest I seen it hot was 3 damage. So.....Yah...not sure if I should try another shifter build or try to hold out.
I ended up adding a karma +3 and tried the drider now it has a spear all my unarmed feets I don't think matter. The Ab is only a point lower so..But it has no problems damaging the enemies. This makes me wonder why the unarmed shifts either don't work or don't have the right damage calculations. A manticore should have like magical attack's or the ability to hurt creatures their lvl.
Unarmored suppose to work but it's an old issue. Still glad you solved some of the issues. Another thing is to cast spells to hinder certain targets than shift like crazy to go in for the kill. If your playing the original campaign it will get tougher in some parts of 3 and Chapter 4 well that is the toughest in some areas. I am glad you swapped weapons.

The original game was one of Bioware's past hits. It looks old still it's fun and I love doing build videos for it. Beamdog took over on the enhanced edition and made it to work on modern computers. The Enhanced edition is coming to consoles too. Thanks for stopping by.

If some servers ban dragon shape then I have to find ones that don’t. It’s time to resurrect my glorious shifter. I had a way to get dragon shape by 30 or 33 but can’t remember how
Yeah that is the problem some servers if they cannot balance it they just ban the feat. Pretty cool on how you got Dragon Shape.
@@LordFentonGaming I had a risen lord that was tougher but no way I can remember how I did it. He was impossible to kill except by clerics. Not sure how he'd do without those last 10 levels though. I just bought the Enhanced Edition so it's time to research and remember these crazy fun builds and find a good server.

It is a custom mod and it's called +Novice to Epic Character Maker Updated 06-05. I got it from the Neverwinter Nights Vault.

Do you have any NWN OC-centric shifter druid builds that are consistent throughout on like hardcore difficulty?
I only have one shifter build I did make.

can I use unarmed instead of scimitar or will I be worse if I do that?
Go for Unarmed if you want to. I tell people on weapons for my builds if you don't like the Scimitar use what you feel is best.
Is shapeshifing subject to concentration checks?
I believe it does not. It cannot be dispelled too which is great.
Is this build is good enough for campain (SoU and HotU) + Mephistopheles ?
With Wild Shape Yes. There is some actual very good wild shapes you can use to get through these campaigns.
you don't need power attack for great cleave. from mon you have cleave already, and only cleave has prerequisite of power attack
Great cleave requires ONLY cleave.
Back than I didn't know. My later monk builds I only got power attack for other feats. Left basically cleave alone since it was a free one.
I love and hate these game lol I loved bg and bg 2 back in the day as well and I remember in bg 2 making a super awesome ranger. I was smoking and blazing through the game killing everything...Then I got to the last area....I couldn't touch the black dragons or most of the creatures with the bow I had and was like.. daaaamn wth I worry about that for every game like this lol I got bored and went back to nwn series I don't think I ever tried the shifter so hope it's fun.
It's like NWN, BG 1 and BG 2 I always come back and really fun to play. That is cool you made an ranger and bummer about the last area. As for Neverwinter Nights I always come back here and enjoy it. The shifter is a fun and I liked some of the forms you do including Dragon form when you work towards those feats.
@@LordFentonGaming I am playing both nwn 1 and 2 again but nwn 1 enhanced edition is kinda giving me a headache. My summon cleric I was trying was doing good then got to the black lake district and the rest ability suddenly stops working Can't figure out why the save works fine earlier but soon as I enter the one estate for the side quest it just states my guy can't rest atm no matter where I am lol. I have a AA build I think made from your guide that is almost at chapter 3 and loved it so hoping the shifter doesn't have any glitchs lol

Yes but I did go for other monk related feats with this build.
Why take scimitar feats? Why not unarmed since most shifts are unarmed?
At the time I was doing it for a few enchantments. Unarmed isn't bad for shifters.

Dragon Form is cool.
How well does this build compare to the pure druid build
This one gives more options to use the shapes you gain from the shifter class. So if you want to turn into something that you cannot as a druid than this class is for you.
This is more of a pure shifter class, where pure druid is more of a spellcaster who can do a few shifts but his main strength still lies as a spell caster, the shifter is poor at casting, yet a beast when shifted.
I personally am more of a Shifter - Dwarven Defender combo fan, shifting into the Risen Lord. Damage reduction from shifted undead form AND Dwarven Defender, immunities as undead have, kinda sick.
how do you deal with traps?
Either use an henchmen like Tomi for example to take care of them or I hate to say it is use resistance items if I find them and spring them.
why did u pick all the scimitar feats?
I did that for some of the forms as I was leveling that uses some of the magic weapons aspects when you shift some forms. In hindsight if I do this build again I'd add more either magic related feats or other feats.

The Shifter Prestige Class tends to have more feats than the druid and monk classes. Besides I grabbed much Shifting forms as I can in this build in case Dragon Form you go on another server or get into an Mod that bans it.

The Scimitar feats are wasted though? None of the forms actually use a Scimitar. Probably better off getting unarmed instead, especially for low magic servers and even in the campaigns.
I read people use other weapons for certain forms to get a bonus. Unarmed is not bad at all.
