I’m retired Philadelphia PD, and I have the SP101 3-inch magnum. I could handle those distances in single-action, but not that well in double. Well-done, Sir!
I'm about to be working up there as a constable deputy. when did you retire?
So in other words. You enforced unconstitutional gun laws in Philadelphia?
Don't be a cu..@@8luggarage
Love how humble he is AND an absolutely deadly shot.
This guy can shoot! Amazing eyesight. He's shooting in double action that's nuts!
Good shooting bad for bad people
I have carried a SP 101 .357 with 2.25" barrel as my in public CC weapon for over 30 years! I have never felt the recoil objectionable. My only double action revolver. Great, reliable gun, and very accurate!
SP 101 is a super strong overbuilt mini beast. Great gun.
Good description!
Heavy Duty
@@buffalosoutdoors man. All I can say is damn. You're in the class of Hickcock 45 or better!
I own the .357 4" barrel.
Man does it handle beautifully.
50 yards with a snubbie is pretty impressive.
Thank you!
Greg Roberts
when the going gets 1929 as gvt defaults on the t bonds.. 50 yards sounds like a fine feature to me...
how small is a bad boy Target at 150 yds.. yards.. not feet,..yards...?
its really the shooter behind the gun!
His eyes should be 20/20 and his hands perfect.....
I've done it before but let me tell you it felt like luck haha
50 yards with a snubbie is very impressive! Guess I will get me a sp101 now!
I live in the UK and I can't own a pistol anymore. In the day I lived the 1911 the Browning 9 and my beloved Ruger SP101. I'm happy you covered this little viper some coverage
Glad you enjoyed it!
If you could, we would like to see you immigrate to the USA and obtain citizenship. Need all the supporters of firearms that we can get. :)
Ruger sure makes nice looking guns
Anyone can shoot a gun and film it. The true content is being able to talk knowledgeably about the firearm. Being able to use a gun super accurately is just icing on the cake!
Thank you!
THANK YOU for being one of the VERY few people on CZcams who count their rounds. Love my 3” SP101.
I love my sp101 I have the 3" barrel in .357 magnum. I really enjoyed this video as I am the same way, and roll my eyes every time I hear someone say "belly gun". I regularly shoot at 50 yards, and regularly use it to take hogs anytime I am in the woods and see them.
Don't ever change a thing you do with your videos, you do a great job, and I really like how you compose them. I have an Sp101 .357 in 2.25" and it's my primary carry gun. You are an awesome shot too!!! I always enjoy watching your shooting.
Thanks a bunch! I love your channel name that's awesome! Had to sub you just because of that!
This is the second time I heard of LAX, just watched a video by Royal Nonesuch and he used it too. Great that companies know the value of having YT channels show off their stuff.
Yes! It was a small gesture but it goes a long way. These days anything helps and they didn't ask me to do a video or anything but gave me the code to share if I wanted to. I thought that was pretty cool as I have had people offer to send things before with strings attached and I just ignore them.
LAX is pretty good stuff. I tried out 500 rounds of their "New" .45 ACP 230 gr ammo. It was very good, appears to be another company that uses their own plated bullets. Two years later i'm still using their brass to reload more ammo with.
@@buffalosoutdoors Have You test fired a Ruger SP101 9MM Revolver?
This guy is just a great shot and is very pleasant to listen to. 50 yards with any open sight pistol is great shooting. I feel challenged even with the 6 inch barrel on my GP 100. Nice job Buffalo !!!
6 inch Gp100 here as well and I sometimes struggle at 25 meters
Buffalo’s videos aren’t just entertainment. You learn a lot from his videos. Ive learned something from every video of his I watched.
Thanks! That is a great compliment!
I like wheel guns its just a classic type of hand gun. Old school.
I love it when you hit em at 40/50 yards..the people that complains about that are the ones who can't do it!! Keep up the good videos!
Well like he said we're all different. I always give it a try and if i'm on fine, if not that's fine too cause than lever guns are fun too out to buck, buck and a half with my rig.
Excellent shooting display. Great marksmanship!
I'm in awe of 40 yard shooting with a snubbie. Thanks for the shoutout Buffalo. It was a nice surprise.
I enjoy your channel Gregg. I think some of my viewers will as well.
Thank you last clear.
Hi Gregg, Checked out this channel by your suggestion and enjoyed it
Hey Gunther - it is a good, clean family oriented channel for folks who love to shoot and or to hunt. Buffalo is a down to earth kind of guy who could give Hickok45 a run for the money.
Lionquest Fitness he can sure shoot that little Ruger.
Uncle Dan out
Buffalo is a humble guy. I like his positivity as well. Always quality content.
CZcams might discriminate and harass gun channels but when you have a great channel such a yourself people will watch and follow no matter where you go. That’s what’s great about our freedom and country. God bless the USA! Keep them good videos coming brother!
Thanks so much for the inspirational comment! Much appreciated!
Not boring at all. This is how a review should be.
I love hearing you talk Buffalo. Don't listen to those nay sayers in the peanut gallery. Keep up the great stuff.
Thank you! I will!
Your videos are Never boring! Great shooting!
Thank you! I try my best to keep it interesting. I am not a pro at this but I do enjoy it. I'm glad that you enjoy the videos. It makes it worth while when I get that kind of feedback.
Amazing shooting ! You’ve gave me the inspiration to start shooting further than 25 yards . Thanks from Illinois !
Hello from Ky! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Just found this channel and keep coming back for the DA revolver shooting and good conversation. Thumbs up!
Thanks! I am glad you enjoy the videos! Welcome to the channel!
Damn, bro, you made my day....very real....keeping it real....no BS...just easy talking and outstanding shooting. It is what it is....giggles and grins
Thank you, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the video!
Love the SP-101. In my opinion though there is no reason to get the .38 Special. The .357 is the same price and gives you more versatility.
I'm getting the 9mm, cheaper ammo and you're not blowing gunpowder out the front that combusts outside the barrel. But I can understand it if it was cheaper in .38.
@Priest Are those the one's designed especially for short barrels?
My local gun shop has a used one of these in 357mag. I thought the $350 price tag seemed decent looked at some other bs before almost buying a 1925 Winchester 12 guage for $500. Hope they still have this ruger bc it seems great and the just like the best deal out there.
generally the 38 special model retails much less, so it is an option for less money
Vernon Ewing that’s a great deal, mine was $575 out the door.
Your a class act Buffalo, wish more channels would support each other like that.
Thanks a bunch. I had a little help getting where I am. I like to pass it on every now and then.
Great. I'm carrying my SP101 357 2.25. I love and trust this gun.
Thank you for shooting a double action revolver like your supposed to.
Nice first person camera view!! You really came a long way!!!! Thanks for your videos I learn a lot from them and good shootings!!
A video so polished I could see my reflection.
Ha!
Shooting in DA with a snub nose 38 at 50! This video is gonna make me be harder on myself. Thanks and great video.
You will never have any idea how helpful this video was for me…thank you so much!!!
That’s a beautiful revolver. Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it. 👍
Buffalo i like your whole Vidio"s. You know why? Cause u tell it like it is. Down to earth. Keep up the informative and enjoyable videos. Merry Christmas
I’ve owned one of these for about 15 years or so. My standard carry load is the Buffalo Bore Heavy 158 Grain 38 Special Semi Wad Cutter a.k.a. The FBI load. And to your point, I’d say your gun is in the right hands. You are an excellent shot.
One of the finest reviews I’ve ever seen. And some of finest shooting as well. I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Thanks for your good work.
Got into shooting a couple of years ago, and have greatly improved after much practice. You shoot very well fro longer distances, and just shows me there is room for improvement in my own skills. I very much enjoy your “down to earth” videos. Keep ‘em coming.
SP101 came out in 38 special. I bought one used for $250. I have put a front Trijicon sight on it. It is loaded with Federal 125 grain +P hollow point ammo. Great gun!
@william Keith what trijicon sight did you put on? I am looking for a tritium front sight for my 3 inch SP101 in .357
I like both the shootin' and the talkin' so I've got nothing to complain about. As far as you shooting a stubby revolver at 50 yards, the only thing I have to say is, *I'm jealous. :D*
I have a hard enough time with a full size handgun. Thanks for the video.
I'm glad you enjoy the vids for what they are, just an ol boy out having fun and hopefully getting others to do the same. Thanks for all the support I really enjoy your comments.
Double action too
Buffalo's Outdoors l
My favorite little firearm. I carry the .357 and love it!
Thanks for sharing and great marksmanship!
You sir, are an excellent marksman! It's nice to see someone shooting a double-action revolver in the manner it was meant to be used.
Buffalo's Outdoors >>> thank you for the very thorough and for the very professional cinematography and narration, well done! I comparison to most other "Ruger SP-101" reviews on YT, I find that you have gone out of your way to clarify that the SP-101 is not a single firearm but a series of firearms that are offered in various caliber, barrel length and hammer configurations. Very professional, highly impressed ... keep up the good work! ;-)
Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm not gonna lie it's nice to hear a compliment every now and then! Have a great day!
3/5 at 50 yds. is decent shootin' in anybody's book! Thanks and keep 'em coming!
Thanks! I figured 40 would be as far as I could go with that little gun!
Thanks from NY.
Love your style honest and kind. 👍
Well thank you!
Thank you for being one of the few gun enthusiasts that count their rounds!
Amazing shooter. Wow.
That’s some pretty impressive shooting
I love you’re videos and learned about your channel from Uncle Dan! Thanks for giving him a shout-out!
I wish him much luck!
I'm only half way through the video and already I'm impressed! If we're ever walking along together and run into some Bad Guys, I'm just going to step aside and say to you, "Have at 'em, brother!"
“Right hands”. You are the right hands LOL. Fine shooting
damn good shooting
i have always been a big fan of ruger
Great Video Buffalo! This is the reason why I subscribed to your channel!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback, it helps!
Have taken my 357 SP101 hiking and camping all over the country. Has never let me down. Used think I was a great shot with it, until I watched this video. You’re an Outstanding marksman
Great video, great attitude.
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
I like your verbal portions better than the shooting part, so...thanks for continuing to make these videos. You're charming and have something to say that's worth listening to.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the videos. That motivates me. I know I ramble a little bit sometimes but I try to stay focused on the task at hand.
I'll second Doug Mare's assertion, I do like the talking parts. You're a good shot so is Paul and Hickock. But really we learn more by hearing tidbits and advice, anecdotes than by just watching shooting. Haters be dammed.
Pretty good double action shootin’. You inspired me to get back down to the range and do a little revolver work.
Just subscribed to your channel, I am a revolver “convert” I have switched over to a Ruger GP100 3 inch .357 and a SP101 .357 (loaded with .38 special) as a “New York Reload” and a Smith & Wesson 442 Airweight as a pocket carry...I have watched several of your videos and am impressed with your reviews and your shooting...as an old Army gunslinger to another shootist...keep burning that powder and carry on!
Great video, I have the hammerless 357 and the Match Champion, love both Gun’s but I haven’t had them put in awhile. I get caught up in the semis and forget how much I enjoy the revolvers and anybody that hits targets at 40 yards with a snubbie has my vote 👍
I know what you mean. I love semi autos as well but there is just something about a double action revolver that floats my boat.
Buffalo's Outdoors I went to the range yesterday with a new Glock 43 so I took the Ruger SP101 with me. I was shooting the Glock at 10 yards getting acceptable groups but when I switched to the Ruger my groups tightened up considerably. I put a set of Wolfe springs in couple years ago and hadn’t spent much time with it, my loss. This thing is a beast at 10 yards. It has the perfect wall that’s easy to reach and smooth to pass. I guess it’ll be going to the range as a regular from now on. I didn’t take enough ammo to stretch it out, next trip for sure, might even get the Match Champion safe queen out. Again thanks for the inspiration.
I shoot real good at 50yards............. with a rifle! lol Good shooting i will have to check out LAX. Glad they are showing you some love.
Honestly I didn't think I'd hit anything at 40 yards but since I did I figured why not back up to 50. I thought that was cool of LAX ammo for sending me that ammo without any strings attached. I've had people offer to send me stuff before with requirements and I just ignore the request.
Thank you! Like it all, talking & shooting. Your real.
Thank you for that, much appreciated!
Great video bud! 👍 Always enjoy how honest and modest you are
Thank you for the feedback. It's appreciated. I just really enjoy shooting and try to pass that along in my videos.
The ruger sp101 caliber 357 mag my daily carry my favorite load Remington 357 mag 158 gr sjhp and wilderness load 180 gr hard cast
Horse Rider just bought one now carry it over my PPK/S, like having a more powerful round
I’ve got this gun in .357 magnum, 3 1/4 inch barrel. It’s a lot of fun to shoot. I just feel sorry for the idiot who ever makes the mistake of attempting to break into my house, it will not end well.
I have the 4" .357 mag model.
Light as a feather with great control.
Better have ear protection. .357 indoors? Literally deafening. I use semis for home defense and have suppressors for both M-4 and C-75. Of course, I acquired tinnitus during 20 yrs as LEO (using what I found out later to be second-rate hearing protection) and wouldn't want to do more damage, even while saving my life. Take care of your ears. You don't want ringing, chirping, cricket-sound in your head every minute for the rest of your life (plus notable loss of high freq hearing).
I'm reporting this for porn. That opening footage is way too arousing for unrestricted access. I'm still breathing hard.
LOL! Best comment so far. I'm dying over here!
capq57. LMFAO 👍
Not to mention that music, 80s porn for sure.
@@buffalosoutdoors well leave
Total gun porn.haha. That is one beautiful revolver for sure!
I've been subbed to Lionquest for quiet a while now and yea,he is very good with a revolver.
I love it all. Thanks, Buffalo!
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed your review and I thought you did great shooting on the steel targets at the 30 ,40, & 50 yards with a snub!
Thanks! I've only had that little revolver on loan for about a week. So I am happy with my shooting as well. Sometimes it takes a little longer to "get to know" a gun but this one was right on.
Hey Buffalo, you should consider demanding checks from Ruger. I'm pretty sure you just sold a SP101.
Nice vid, great shooting.
Thx D
Danny Archuleta Haha! Make that 2
You are an excellent shot I have been shooting for 25 years and your one of the best that I've seen shooting that pistol that range .
I'm glad you do those further distances in your vids.
I bet that 22 version of being nice little snake charmer
And anybody that's knocking you in the comments for shooting 40 or 50 yards with a snub nose, they're just jealous they can't do it
LOL I didn't think of it that way!
Buffalo's Outdoors. I'm pulling a shift at cabelas on the weekend here, and now you've got me eyeing one... Thanks!
That makes absolutely no sense at all..If it is accurate for you,at the longer ranges,,then it just says more for it,at the closer ranges..Why would anyone complain about that..
Subed!! Nice presentation of. Your vids KEEP them COMING! I'm looking. The 327 mag. Plus you can shoot 32 H&R mag. And 32 long Colts! Yes just some options I like cause I reload. The older 32 long Colts and 32 H&R mags are extremely expensive.but if you reload cost really low😀
Really hard to do at those longer ranges.
If a worker at LAX ammo company quits, would that make them an ex LAX employee? Don't know why my stupid head thinks of these things.but anyways, great shootin ,thanks for sharing, you do just fine buffalo, don't worry bout the nit pickers. 🖒
LOL NOW THAT'S FUNNY!!!
Don't worry the smell of gunpowder does the same thing to me...lol
I just found your channel. I'm lovin the SP101 you did a great job so I subscribed. My wife went to school in Berea. I love that place. I hope you live long and prosper for your efforts. God Bless.
Thank you for your video. You sound like a humble guy. You are a great shot.
A takeoff on Rugers older Security Six Pistol which I love to CC whenever I can etc.Ruger makes some Pistols better than the S&W company does etc.
Your revolver mastery is just amazing. Really enjoyed your presentation. I sure love my SP101. Did a trigger job and put a Big Dot (little dot version) on my front sight. That makes it hit point of aim and point of impact with 357. Its a great sight picture and much better than the OEM sight. I tried all sorts of paint with the OEM sight and while it worked ok, I am much happier with the dot. Using my Lab Radar I am getting 530 foot pounds of energy from Buffalo Bore ammo. That dwarfs anything in the 9 mm +P offering by 200 foot pounds.
Thanks! I may do some trigger work on this one, I'm not sure yet. Thinking of bobbing the hammer as well. At the time of this video this revolver belonged to a friend but I've since bought it for myself.
Great video,Buffalo. Love the dirt road drive at the end !
Fantastic video. Down home plain sense, thanks for sharing AND Fantastic shooting! I too have an SP101 3" barrel but beyond 35 yards I pretty much miss....the paper!
Very fine weapon --- BUT --- I still like my old security six --- Does very well out to 100 yards -- Ruger is one of the best --
That old security six is nice
Never owned a Ruger. Had 3 S&W and had timing issues with both. If I was ever gonna buy another wheeler I would buy this gun....
3 = both?
@@mwilliamshs So you're to stupid to read past the error and to the point? I get that..
@@milwaukeegregg too*
I had to watch this one again after finally get my hands on one. I don't know yet if it will take the place of my Taurus 605 as my most often carried gun, but the weight and size certainly gives a sense of confidence when it's on the hip.
I always enjoys watching your videos!!! keep up the great work :)
Thank you!
“3/5 at 50 yards, that’s not bad guys” he says...(I’m thinking) mmm... I own one of these and by my count that’s GREAT shooting! 😂 Another box of ammo or two and you’ll be ready to take on Jerry!
Thanks! That's about the best compliment a shooter can get! ;) LOL...
I think its people with less experience that want to skip to the shooting because its the closest thing for them to shooting but for me i like the talking parts better because watching how someone else shoots a gun doesnt really tell me anything.
I agree with this.
Cool.
Awesome shooting AND I enjoy you take on the gun, targets and just like we're at the range on a Saturday just enjoying the day shooting. So 'Thanks'
I just bought an SP101 .357 today. Your video is a masterpiece.
With practice this can be done. A friend of mine and I regularly shoot pistols of different calibers at clay birds from 100 yards with great success. Lots of friendly fun competition and you’d be surprised at how good you can get, but it dose require practice.
Good shooting!
Just watched your video for the Smith and Wesson m&p bodyguard. Comparing the two which would you say is the better gun for conceal and carry or everyday carry?
Any one who hits a small target in 50 yards with snubbie is A 👌OK in my book. Hats off and good luck.
Good memories, the first carry gun I bought my wife was the SP101
.357 magnum. She moved up to a semi auto a long time ago.
I had never heard of LAX ammo either, but I'm going to give them a try. Worth doing business with if they are willing to bolster your channel.
They just opened another one right down the street from me in Huntington. Their reloads are great. BTW for those that don't know the name comes from LAX airport in Commiefornia.
It was a one time thing but little gestures like that go a long way with a small channel like mine. The ammo seemed very accurate/consistent especially for remanned. They also sent me a couple of boxes of their new manufactured ammo which I haven't shot yet.
Sold my 357 sp, that recoil was worse then my 460 Smith and Wesson xvr
Shoot lighter loads!
I have the Ruger LCR 357. That little dude is like a stick of dynamite going off in your hand. But I love it. I love a strong recoiling gun. I'm looking to fill a gap in my collection with a 357 mag, maybe this one??
Bubbley Singh stop being a baby
Bubbley Singh my wife shoots the hell out of mine with full power 357.... And shoots it very well
What's recoil?
Love those tunes! And the reviews, of course! Another goodie from Buffalo!
Damn you're a good shot from those further distances!
Yep. Defensive revolver should be double action. I like your easy presentation and simple factual delivery. THAT is some good shootin' also. Nice looking gun. Thanks for your time to do this. I'm in the market for a smaller revolver. I have a S&W 686 4" that I love. This Ruger is now on my list of candidates.
Great shooting. I have the spurless model chambered in 357, and I love it. Great Cary gun as well.
All double action. Sheeeesh, this guys shooting never fails to amaze me. Well done, man.
Thank you!
It is refreshing to see a youtuber know how to correctly load a revolver.
