- We return to the Plantation from the first hunt of 2021. This time we find out the plantation dates back to the 1680's not the 1750's like we thought. The very nice owner let us Metal Detect the Yard. You never know what you're going to find in a yard. We found out very fast that the yard had been detected before, but we still managed to find some excellent old coins and relics!

Just bought an AT Max. Was walking by the box today and there was a picture of someone metal detecting. Looked so familiar. It was B-Rad! Very cool.
I love the voice overs - Swing, swing, swing, BEEP, BEEP! I wish I had your originality in thinking this stuff up.
That English shotgun shell is called a pinfire cartridge. They also made pinfire cartridges for pistols. These are the predecessor of the center fire cartridges we use today. That pin sticking out of the side is the primer. The one you found is not fired. The pin primer would be flattened if it was fired. The primer had fulminate mercury in it as the primary explosive so don't hit it with a hammer. Lol
40 years ago, Anyway during the 80's the iron bottle caps hadn't rusted away yet, The deeper older ones sounded just like IHP's. This has changed, What's left of those caps are just little hot spots. In the beginning, just before motion detecting, I worked a VLF TR machine, During those early years we set the discrimination up on high enough to knock's out pull tabs. No nickels, silver averages were 5 wheats 1 silver. Times have changed, Audio ID, Visual ID, Working with little to no discrimination. Many days I'd have to use both front pockets of my jeans, I had so many coins. Every night I filled up the Lortone rock tumbler to clean up every thing but the silver. Half dollars came much more often.

First, I wanted to let you know that over the weekend I was watching your videos with my family. I figured my brother would be interested, but my sister was declaring that she was going to be bored the entire time. After the very first video she said let's watch another! She found them to be thoroughly entertaining, and she really enjoyed the voiceovers. Which leads to my second point. You do need to keep them even if they are artificially added every once in a while.

The first Buffalo Nickel that I ever found was in my great grand mothers yard. That yard too had been detected before. The buff and one wheat cent were the only coins that I found that day. That was almost 40 years ago. Man, time really does pass by before you realize it. I love finding those old keys. Nice finds guys !!!

That shotshell with the pin sticking out is known as a pinfire. Very early. Predates the primers on the rear end as you probably figured out. Love ya guys!

Great finds absolutely loved the skeleton key.
All the doors in my house have locks from around the turn of the century. Related but off topic I was exploring an abandoned house in my neighborhood and found a skeleton key about the size of a normal key in the basement I tried every door in that house and it didnt go to any of them so I took it home the next day I decided to try it on my doors and it fit all of them.

Yup, 1830's. Not even common in the UK really. I guess I find one pinfire to 350 normal shotgun shells, on English fields

That last fancy button almost looks like a purposely bent love token . With that S shape like the one you found in the UK 🇬🇧. It would not surprise me to see those bent love tokens show up here in the States and Canada. I think a couple have been found. Anyways, good hunting 👍
