  • Metal Detecting an old farm in a historic area we stumbled upon a RED HOT area loaded with Old Colonial 1700's Coins and musket balls. At first we we're hoping it was a Revolutionary Camp Site. With a lack of buttons and other camp site relics we think it was a Fur Trading Post. Nothing But old coins and Lots of lead. We will probably never know for sure, but that's the fun of it all. Exploring a new place and trying to figure out what happened there 300 years ago. What do you think?

    Hey Kurt ,
I’m a fellow detectorist from Ontario Canada
and being a fellow history nerd
I wanted to say great find on the 1837 Canadian bank token
In fact it’s actually an 1837 half penny or penny bank token of lower Canada
    Minted in Montreal Quebec
A token from before Canada was a country
    Which wasn’t until 1867
I have found both types of tokens
One is the same as yours and the others are from 1854 half penny bank token of upper Canada
Just thought you’d like to know a little history from the north
    Happy Dirt fishing
    From a fellow beeper

I've been interested in detecting for a few years, but haven't started yet. I'm really glad there are channels like this that hold my interest to the point where I binge watch a bit.
Fingers crossed to get myself the right type of detector for the environment I plan to sweep, and the type of coin/relics I expect to find in my neighborhood.
Hopefully by the summer of 21.
Thanks again for the great channel.

I've been detecting for 39 years and one thing I hate is corroded wiped coppers that are unidentifiable or trashed. Everyone gets so excited about them. I have a coffee can full of them. I call it my can of disappointment! LOL! Farm fields are the WORST for finding coppers. I have dug BEAUTIFUL large cents and colonial coinage that are just green with almost no corrosion when found in good neutral soil. Indians too. But no matter what you just can't beat the rush of shiny silver coming out of the ground. Dig on! : )

Great to stumble across your metal detecting videos. I've learned that the copper taco I found several years ago is likely an old, worn copper. Do you find Machin's Mill's contemporary counterfeits or do you simply assume the "British" coppers are all made in Britain? I believe I found a Machin's Mills copper in Maryland. Anyway, I have really enjoyed watching accomplished MD'ers dig the good stuff. There's lots of cools stuff yet to be found.
