  • Green and yellow grassy plains, reminding one a bit of Mulgore and/or the Barrens. Pink-channeled sky. Although the terrain of the Barrens is similar, Nagrand is greener and has a minor amount of wetland in places, as well as an overall higher presence of water. The zone's background music implies a mood of reverence, solemnity, and a certain amount of sorrow at it is now somewhat broken nature. The music contains a direct quote from the recitative part of the aria "O Zittre Nicht" from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera, The Magic Flute.
    Nagrand is the last unscarred region in Outland. It is the ancestral home of the orcs and the heart of early orcish shamanism. Today it is a fertile retreat where elementals commune with mortals on a regular basis. Marauding ogres from the Blade's Edge Mountains, meaning to claim the territory as their own, currently pose the greatest threat to this unspoiled reserve.
    Nagrand was a land that was extremely sacred to the orcs, being the meeting grounds of the orcish people, where the Kosh'harg celebrations were held twice every year. The clans would assemble at the base of their sacred mountain, Oshu'gun, and give thanks to the spirits.
    The land was home to the Warsong Clan, one of the most spartan of the orcish clans who rode their wolves into battle and spoke in the language of clashing axes and the fury of battle. They shared the region with the Burning Blade Clan, and the mortal enemy of the orcs; the ogres of the Gorian Empire. In fact, the empire ruled out of the city of Highmaul in the west of the region.
    During the war against the draenei, Prophet Velen and a retinue of priests made their way to Oshu'gun - the vessel that brought them to Draenor - where they were taken prisoner by Durotan and the Frostwolf clan, and eventually released (Durotan's reasoning being that the draenei allowed themselves to be taken prisoner, therefore there was no honor in holding them). When the elements abandoned the orcish people, it was here - again, in the shadow of Oshu'gun - that Gul'dan introduced the orcish people to warlock magics. Today the Mag'har, the orcs who did not partake of the blood of Mannoroth and cut themselves off from the other corrupted clans, make their home here, as do the Kurenai, Broken draenei seeking to find their destiny.

    It is a long and hot summer for me (not necessarily a good thing), but I hope many of you are feeling okay waiting for the WoW Classic release. Until then, I hope you will enjoy Nagrand Outland. Some will say it's one of the best zones ever created in WoW and I will not argue about that :)
    It was even revisited by Blizzard in BfA, showing it in the _Safe Haven_ cinematic (the meeting between Saurfang & Thrall): czcams.com/video/umAgdVTBae0/video.html
    *Thank you:* To my Patreons and CZcams Channel Members and to all my 8.4k subscribers. I am happy to welcome more of you. More details in the video description.

      When I heard this music in Safe haven, I cried for 1hr straight. Outland has the BEST ambience music and I have all the zones, 1hr long versions on my phone,which I listen to at work. See, this is the quality I keep hoping to get from Blizzard again. But honestly,this is super hard to top. Glorious.

      When I stopped playing my main character years ago on retail, I left him in Shattrath City, but high up on the border between Shattrath and Nagrand. The views from up there were stunning.
      Nagrand was one of my favourite zones in the entire game. Others were Teldrassil, Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, Mulgore, and Zangarmarsh. Not sure why they are mostly low level areas, but maybe it was the feeling of being a noob that I thoroughly enjoyed. Learning a new characters abilities, progressing quickly, encountering a completely different environment that you never really went to with any of your other characters once they were beyond level 10. Those zones were all about "new stuff".
      Good times. Thoroughly enjoying the toughness of levelling as a resto druid (again) in classic. Called, looking and specced exactly the same as the original one from 15 years ago. Only this time I knew what to expect!

    Will things ever be the same as when I was questing Vanilla, Burning Crusade, and Wrath? No...I don't think so. All I'll ever get back is a reflection of all those moments, a resin of feeling left after the ghost of hundreds of hours is boiled down to the bare components. Most of those hours are forever lost, along with the friends, the adventures, the world itself. It was an age we lived, a singular span of time where we adventurers enjoyed together, strove together, fought together (or against each other), regardless of what we looked like, what our lives were like, how rich or poor or boring or exciting we were in reality. Together we banished Ragnaros, conquered Alterac Valley, raided Orgrimmar or Stormwind, went through the Dark Portal for the first time, watched as the gates of Ahn'Qiraj opened.
    Sometimes we were on opposing sides, us Horde and Alliance, but I can remember moments where the humanity of it all shone through. The high level orc who killed a raptor chasing me. The time I returned the favour for a low level tauren in the Barrens. That is all we have now. A few moments, a highlight reel in our minds. It is through CZcamsrs like Meisio that we gain the time machine necessary to allow us to traverse that highlight reel in as real a way as possible; through the music of that age.
    Thank you Mesisio. Thank you old World of Warcraft. Thank you fellow adventurers. I love you all.

    a moment in time frozen in place in my mind, like the frozen NPCs in caverns of time, where i was 14 years old and my only "problem" was school, talking to my crush, farming in WoW and not getting x loot from raid bosses.
    Coming today, being 29 and engaged, i have full time responsibilities,a full time job with occasional 12 hour night shifts and as you prolly have guessed by now, no time to truly enjoy this game anymore. All i have is fond memories.

    I remember in 2009 I just turned 15 coming home from school on Friday afternoon to play my level 66 nightelf druid in Nagrand. I felt completely happy and content. I just started playing but within a few minutes my crying mother called and my parents divorced started which lasted for years, I packed a few clothes left the house. Those few minutes in Nagrand were the last when I ever felt to be home.

    • @jahhealingkemetic
      @jahhealingkemetic Před 5 měsíci +2

      True. When my parents split up around 07-08 I remember burning crusade being the last thing we all every enjoyed together as a family.
      We never ate together again. Never spent time together after the divorce, but we always would check up on each other and play WoW together through everything that was going on.
      Good times. No lie.

    I fought in Nagrand in 2008. It was glorious. I lost many a pieces of gold to repair my armor. Loot was hard to get, men had hair on their chests. Not like kids these days who play on mobiles all day every day, with their finger!.. We used a mouse, which we had to take care of, for a mouse that was not well maintained, would mean the difference between life and death! not like kids these days...

    The map sound effect (I think that's what that is) for displaying the title of the video, I didn't expect to hear that and it was a super nice touch. More of that and other sounds would be awesome. Maybe like every time you get to a new location within that zone (like Halaa or Oshu'Gun in this case)? All the WoW sound effects are very nostalgic and just make me feel good, I'd love to hear more in other videos!

    Nagrand is quite a unique zone. I`ve always loved questing and chilling there with my characters. Feels like the countryside when I go there. Looks like the only zone that wasn`t as severely affected by the sundering of Draenor. I wonder why tho?

    Ha, I watched everness's Nagrand video earlier today, coincidence?
    Now I have to declare July 17th as Nagrand Day!
    No, not my favorite zone but that's just because I'm indecisive and I love all Outland zones more or less the same ;p But its music and ambience are among the very best (and most memorable) of this game, no doubt.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, coincidence :)
      But we can call 17th of July the Nagrand Day, why not!? :)
      From Outland I like Nagrand, Zangarmarsh and Shadowmoon Valley most. But I have also a special connection with Hellfire Peninsula since all the TBC adventure started there.
      Hi Hawkstrike! :)

      @@Meisio Netherstorm has to be my least favorite but still I love parts of it and the fact that it's so purple (WoW has made me add this color to my faves). Well, it seems you forgot Terokkar with the magical white lights and the city with the most soothing music (used to call it Lagttrath because I couldn't even complete the escort quest back then /sigh ...good thing the music was calming my nerves).
      Seriously, I have fond -faint or more vivid- memories from all these places even though I can't say I had the complete, ideal TBC experience either (missed 90% of vanilla and most other expansions for one reason or the other). At least I got to chat a lot and level like a casual noob who enjoyed the atmosphere more than anything else, to 68 on my first hunter/char, so close to max level yet so far. Anyway, I'll leave the rest of my story for another time, I rambled enough for now, lol. Point is, Outland was the perfect place to find some peace of mind. Shame that this game won't offer the same thing anymore, at least to me. Life and its probs only get more serious and you cannot hide forever, and you shouldn't. Nevertheless I'll soon give WoW one last chance because I haven't really found a better hobby to replace it with... and I hate that, but what can you do?
      p.s. after 3 smilies I now deserve at least a sad face too 😅 I don't like making others *too* happy, balance is key😁

      @@Meisio oh, almost forgot: Zangarmarsh and Shadowmoon Valley videos confirmed(?) 😜
      Btw, thanks for all these videos, really. My mom said she finds WoW music depressing 😂🙄 but to me it's just relaxing, obviously. The vanilla stuff mainly but, man, Matt Uelmen is so good (Derek Duke, too, he has to be my 2nd favorite). Without him TBC wouldn't be the same.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  Před 5 lety +1

      TBC was for me the time when I was considering to quit raiding. I was coming back to WoW after initially quitting hardcore raiding in Naxx40 (I quit in the raid progression time, after two weeks of attempts at the Four Horsemen). I was going through some kind of therapy, like I it was after a serious addiction. Later I've learned to enjoy the game at the casual level. :)
      P.S.: Here's the sad face! ----> :(

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  Před 5 lety +1

      You can consider all zones in WoW as confirmed, that's the plan for the channel. To cover everything. But yes, I'll try to make more TBC content since this expansion has been totally ignored by me.
      The WoW music can be depressing, but I am using it to treat my depressions. The nice thing with music is that it is personal. It makes an impression on you and it's related to the time in life when you listen to it. I hope it makes sense what I've wrote, it's very late here :)
      I love Uelmen's work in WoW, but I love more what he did for Diablo 2! :) As for Derek Duke, his work is outstanding and I think he is doing a fantastic job as Music Director now for WoW BfA.
