Even the Witches of Dathomir understood "The Binary". The males may have been kept segregated and seen as lesser than, but the Witches still understood the concept of why the males were needed and kept them around.
I also think the Dathomiri had some genetic anomaly that caused only females of to become Force sensitive.

In fairness to Filoni, he didn't introduce the witches of Dathomir to Star Wars. They were introduced in the 1994 book "The Courtship of Princess Leia". Now in the book they were a bit different and they definitely not all evil.
One of my favorite books. It also introduced the Hapes Cluster, another matriarchal society.

There is nothing wrong with using the Force to dodge, parry, and disarm opponents, but it was usually reserved for the best of the best. In Filoni's stories, every character does it and it loses its charm.
Darth Sidious did it because he was super powerful in the Force and saw lightsabers as beneath him. Vader doing it is okay because he is the apprentice of Darth Sidious. The Mortis gods doing it is alright because they are symbols of the Force. Barris, Ezra, Trinity, and Ahsoka also doing the same is too much.
The thing nobody seems to get is Disney WANTS to break Star Wars. That's been their agenda from the start.

The Nightsisters of Dathomir were originally from the old Expanded Universe as far back as 1994. It was Lucas who wanted them brought into The Clone Wars animated series. His daughter Katie wrote the entire Nightsister arc.

Star Wars was like a fine meal served at your favorite restaurant.

I disagree. I think Lucas did both. But he was doing it in reverence to the source material that inspired him; Samurai movies, Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, Cowboys, World War 2 dogfighting... It was all with love. But these woke Hollywood people do everything with irreverence and hate. They are jaded and cynical.

One of the worrying thoughts about the rumored Immaculate Conception Twin story is... they might tie it into being a Witch-Specific trait. If so, they may want to 'adopt' or invoke Shmi Skywalker as a child of Filoni's Dathomir type Witches, so the High Republic links into the Prequels, and Anakin is tied into The Acolyte. It would not be the first time a Fan-Fic has tried to retcon things to their advantage.
the opening lines and dialog might be ok, if coupled with competent cinematography. Villains are interesting because they're mysterious and powerful. Before any dialog, they show a full body shot of Mae revealing exactly what she looks like...small, unimposing and without a lightsaber. So at face value in a star wars series, 'The Villian' looks like an extra
She dies from a letter opener but the chick from Kenobi survives 2 light saber torso stabs, and one when she was a youngling.

What Ron says at @6:30 is indicative of alot of pre-quels. How can you care about the character when you know they are gonna die. I felt the exact same about Rogue One, you knew every character was going to die because there is no mention of them in any other series ever.
I'm sure that they will turn Mae into a misunderstood 'evil' character, just like they did with Malificent and Cruella. Because they are women they can really be evil just made to do evil things because of a man.
And I'm sure the Smilo Ren is one of Mae's mums, or at the very least a women because they arent showing very much or it's at long distance.
Grace Randolph tried to console Star Wars fans that Anakin is still special. That makes me believe the rumor that the twins Mae and Osha are immaculately conceived like Anakin (no father of the twins). Darth Plagueis took a long time to master the power to create life using the force so I find it strange that someone else could master this power to create Mae and Osha. That is a problem that many long time Star Wars fans will have with the Acolyte.

Disney said that I didn't like it before it came out.
I turned it off about halfway through the first episode. Honestly, if Carrie Ann Moss hadn't died in the beginning, I'd have been more interested. They could have found a way to keep the basic same plot. Also when that girl said "use your inside voice", I checked out completely
