The third episode of Disney’s The Acolyte is an embarrassment to the entire franchise, though the same could be said for so much Star Wars these days outside of Andor and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.
I want to ask Disney the same question: What have you done?
This entire episode is a bad joke. We learn that Mae and Osha lived with their mothers in a society of witches, all of whom are female. It appears they were conceived using the Force. Or something. Force-using witches are also apparently frowned upon in this galaxy. They call the Force, the Thread. I’m getting Dark Side vibes here, though I’m also getting the sense that this show will try to be all edgy and make the Jedi out to be the bad guys. Which we’ve seen play out about half a dozen times at this point.

I don’t like Kathleen Kennedy, but the show isn’t that bad.
2 young boys are playing. They've constructed a whole world with rules and persistent characters. They're having the best time, until Mom walks in with their sister and says "you have to include her" the boys object because every time they try she changes the rules and doesn't care what happened before she got there. Suddenly nothing makes sense and the characters are all princesses and ponies. The boys lose interest, leave, and get punished by mom for not playing nice.

Holy crap, that is so hilarious because I watched that all the time with my boys and their friends playing in the forest out back of our place. Exactly that scenario, the girls would show up and want to play and the boys would say no and the girls would complain to us parents and (yes I am guilty) we would say ," play nice and include the girls" within 15 or so minutes the boys would be either back in the house or some where else because the "adventure" they were creating had become "house" 🤔🙄
That chant is more embarrassing than anything George Lucas ever did.

Disney took satirical “put a chic in it, make it lame and gay” and made it a corporate directive.
As a 50 year old housewife that adored the original three (actually watched Return of the Jedi every afternoon, much to the irritation of my grandmother lol), this whole Disney bent on the franchise is depressing. I never once, as a child, as a FEMALE child, felt left out or not included. I was absorbed the in the story, the PEOPLE, and all the drama. Hell, I remember all the bruhaha about Princess Leia being in that skimpy outfit of Jabba the huts. Leia was the original strong female character. I loved her. Let us not forget that even though she was dressed in slave garb that couldn't have covered a basketball, she choked the shit out of a giant slavemaster slug with her own chains. That for me was the ballsiest move I ever seen as a child. We already had all the strong females we needed. Bring back my strong male characters! Believe it or not, we still love strong men. Well, at least I do 😅

The focus is on the message and not the money. The "Doctor Who" crowd recently acknowledged that they are "making non-economic decisions". George Clooney said years ago that Hollywood is in the business of changing society and that film is the means of doing that. They make money on films like "Oppenheimer" and use that to underwrite the message films. One solution for viewers is simply to stop watching new releases. Watch old films or find some other form of entertainment. If they are starved of all of their sources of cash they will die out since they would rather die than change.

What plucks my short hairs the most is that Star Wars CAN be good, what with The Bad Batch ending and Andor being prime examples of what can be done if youre concerned about the story being good. Are there no adults in the rooms where these decisions are made? If I own a brand like say Cosmopolitan and I go into a meeting and suggest I want to start filling the magazine with ads and articles about cars, beer and guns, wouldn't there be someone telling me that it's financial suicide?

I am so glad i gave up on Star Wars after that crapfest of Mando S3. At this point if it's an IP owned by Disney i have given up all hope of it being worth watching. in the last 10 years, we have seen Disney transformed into a shadow of it's old self. In past decades, Disney was considered the benchmark of family entertainment. Now this company is a disgrace to it's founder and all of those that built it's legacy.

I think I understand now. Disney has always made their money manipulating children and female into their messaging and brainwashing. They're now trying to do the same to the "Male Audience" things they've always done before. This was always what was going to happen the moment Disney bought SW... we just naively thought they're going to behave like a normal company and try to cater to existing audience - NO, they want to service their existing fanbase first, but it looks like that didn't work and instead they've lost the male fanbase too, making their investment a complete loss.

I have to say it, I they are working a laundry there at disney and it ain't clothes they are washing. No way that cost 22.5 million an episode of that!.
The bigger question is, why is anyone visiting the parks? Subscribing to Disney+ or buying anything associated with this? I sold my stock after The Last Jedi. If I was still an investor I would be mad as hell.
It's not just a matter of destroying IPs, how are they still making money? The parks are an easy answer, overseas money is still funding a lot of it.
I checked out of Star Wars a long time ago and I was a huge fan, spent a ton of money up to the Disney buy. This isn't made for my generation of fans. Their problem is, the people they are marketing to does not care or know anything about the IP. They are not creating generational fans or even catering to any type of large audience.
I can't wait to see them sell off this IP. It's coming.
