So tired of this. I am a female, I have always been a female and I grew up with Star Wars. The trilogy made me feel like it didn't matter what I looked like or how much money I didn't have, it was just a good story with great acting that I could get lost in. The total opposite of what is happening now.

Because when I was growing up in the 70's 80's and ( still trying to be a kids) in the 90's we had very few positive images. It was either gansta films or struggle films. You can only see variations of Pookie and Ray Ray so many different times. It's only bad to people who have always been used to positive representations. Just being real. I am black , Indian, and Filipino... I am glad to see more black and Asian faces. It's not Woke, it's reality because we are people.

I am very much a liberal Democrat, I've never voted for a Republican and hate Trump with a passion. Yet I haven't watched one minute of this garbage show and detest Kathleen Kennedy. The hate for this show and Kennedy's destruction of Star Wars is truly bipartisan! Kennedy and Headland's assault on Star Wars is truly bringing this country together. Why Disney hasn't fired Kennedy yet just boggles my mind.

Seeing Star Wars in 1977 I, a white male had black kids in the line, male AND female. Had Asians, young and old. After the movie NEVER heard NOBODY say there weren't ENOUGH of these people or those people and EVERYBODY APPLAUDED the movie at the end. NEVER heard a complaint about the STORY. NEVER heard ANY of the actors ATTACKING the CUSTOMERS. How...TIMES have changed. Hell the Christmas special the actors APOLOGIZED for it INSTEAD of calling PEOPLE..names.

Repeating myself but,,,,,,,, Whoopi's character on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Guinan, was wise, perceptive and caring - we now know this was due to a good scrpt and good directing. Notice that Amandla is only briefly glancing at Sunny once she goes into her monologue and does not otherwise make eye contact with anyone - in fact she keeps looking up - this is an indication theat she's lying and trying to remember a poorly memorized script that was handed to her shortly before she came on.

@@angin3057 She had contractual box office residuals for this film. After it was shot, the Rodent House chose to release it to their streaming service day and date to the theatrical release. That decision cut a huge portion out of her contracted compensation.
I call it a good reason. Streaming services are not generally profitable. It was a lose/lose on part of the Rodent House.

So you've identified that your audience is mostly male and mostly right wing and you are consistently choosing to create your movies with extreme left wing ideology themes running through them and female characters put in forefront. Like, how does that even make any sense.

When I was my marital arts instructor’s right hand man in running his school, alienating our customers was the VERY last thing that we would do. On the contrary, we proactively looked for things that might drive people away.

They had way more people defending the show vs watching it. If they actually had a lot of people watching it as they had defending it than the show would have done better. The audience they created this for didn't watch it and the ones defending it are not watching it as much as they defend it.

Here’s the real deal: I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977. I endured bullying for it all through school. When the prequels came out, I camped outside overnight for a total of 18 hours to buy advance sales tickets to the midnight premiere (a week later). Went dressed up to all 3 prequel premieres. Spent ridiculous amounts of money on merch. And have dealt with Disneys substandard projects.
After the Acolyte, I literally don’t care about Star Wars for the first time since 1977.

Hollywood needs to be reminded, when you try to please everyone, you please no one. I was just thinking about my childhood and popular shows on TV that I watched. They were largely monocultural, with the odd other character thrown in from time to time with a reason. The Cosby Show (8 seasons) was without a doubt one of the most popular shows on TV. Bill Cosby had the nickname of America's Dad. Family Matters was something my family watched every week, it ran for 9 seasons. The more I think about it, the more black ensemble cast shows I remember watching, Sanford and Son, 227, The Jeffersons, The Bernie Mac Show, Everybody Hates Chris, and more that I can't think of the names. It seems the diversity and inclusion in entertainment backlash is because you have people that check boxes, not that there is a reason for them. Will & Grace was a popular show featuring gay characters. You can't tell me that show was successful just on the backs of the LGBT "community". Pokemon casting (gotta collect them all) does not help, and seems to make it more difficult to write. Checking a box to make sure you cover all the bases without having a story related reason for them doesn't serve the purpose of the story. The diversity of the cast of The Acolyte wouldn't matter, if they were well written, and directed. I feel sorry for the actors that thought this was a good career move and are now stuck with an albatross around their neck.
5:16 the fact that Disney doesn’t realize that just because a fanbase is more popular among men doesn’t mean women haven’t been fans for just as long. Us ladies hate to see these changes just as much as the guys do. Many women I know hate the new trends of female characters in media and Star Wars taking this turn is heartbreaking. Leia? Padmé? Ahsoka? Shaak Ti? Aalya Secura? Mara Jade? Characters first, females second. So the argument that women have been excluded from this fanbase is ridiculous.
