  • Ever since the Acolyte Episode 7 released on disney plus and failed terribly...one major development now has more to do with actress Amandla Stenberg and her reaction after the acolyte cancelled situation that has been going on behind the scenes.....this all comes in the midst of the acolyte rotten tomatoes score constantly changing for both the audience and critics and with the acolyte episode 8 set to drop next week those like leslye headland and kathleen kennedy have been engaging in endless damage control over the series for disney plus.....

As a woman, I do not CARE if early star wars had mostly males because I don't think about genders when I watch a movie, I think about CHARACTERS. I don't need forced female representation because star wars always had female characters, and WELL WRITTEN ones too, even if the majority are male. I would like female characters but only if its integrated naturally and not some forced agenda. I hate it so much when films and shows tries to pander and you see a character that is soulless and the only reason for them is "look at me, im your token female character/love interest that has absolutely no development".
Lets face it, star wars is mostly targeted towards men, I don't know any girls who has even seen the movies. My sisters would rather watch a vampire anime than a galactical space sci-fi war. I watched them all before Disney took over and some of my favorite characters so happen to be men. Why?? because they have motives, they have struggles, they have short comings, they make mistakes, there charismatic/funny, and there endearing. You want to see them succeed and see where there story takes them, unlike the dumpster fire that is acolyte. I wouldn't give a crap if all the characters died, I would be cheering at that point. There extremally unlikeable, and not only the characters are terrible, but the story is trash. I gave up on the second episode. I thought it would maybe have something to it like Mandalorian, hell no.
Stop trying to change what's already been established, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Stop trying to force your own personal beliefs into something that only caters to you because you end up alienating the rest of the audience.... you know, the people your making it for. Star wars is a story, its fun entertainment, its not your support animal.

Traditional Star Wars fans have accepted lots of bad dialogue and plot holes in the past, because the stories and characters have always been engaging and fun. The movies allowed us to escape our current world and all its problems for a couple hours. The new Star Wars movies and shows drag our real-world problems into a once-beloved galaxy far, far away. The original Star Wars stories were fantasy, not social commentary.
    1. The Acolyte story is just not good, and often cringey. "The power of MAAAANY"???
    2. It feels like actors are simply reading lines to advance the nonsensical plot, not creating likable - or believable - characters.
    3. The story contradicts and destroys established canon and beloved characters.
    4. The actors and creators are terrible people in public, being very condescending and calling fans of the old Star Wars all sorts of "-ist" names.

I am a female and I have been a Star Wars’ fan since it hit the theatres in 1977 and my Daddy took all us four kids and my mother to go see it! It was a treat to go to the movie theatres! I was 7 yrs old turning 8, and my Daddy just return from his from his last assignment in the military as AD. I saw all 9 movies. I took my Daddy, Momma, and sons to the Final Star Wars movie. I saw the Han Solo movie and Rogue One. I even watched the cartoon Star Wars and Lego shows. I’m tired of these people stating that Star Wars isn’t for women! That only men were into Star Wars. I read some of the books, comic books, and played with my brother’s Star Wars toys, I wore R2D2 under-Roos and own a R2-D2 droid and other Star Wars items, but mostly R2-D2, I have debated and argued over the movies, but I haven’t watched any of the Disney adaptations because I don’t have Disney Plus. But just seeing the clips of this show and some of the others, I can see how bad it is, it’s badly written fan-fiction and I rather pop in the older Star War movies and pretend that Mark Harmill isn’t insane and JarJar Binks was the worst thing about Star Wars (I can’t really watch the last 3 movies they really took a turn into delulu land and if I do it has to be after the Boondocks Saints).

I wouldn't even say that the acting was that great in the originals, to be honest. But the STORY was enthralling! As a child, I was totally captivated by the imagery more than the story. The lightsaber was the coolest thing I had ever seen! And the X-Wing fighter was such a unique and surprising style of fighter that captured the imagination. Star Destroyers and the Death Star? Unbelievable imagery for a child! But as I got older, the way the story unfolded, especially in Empire when you find out that this fearsome character, Darth Vader, is actually Luke's father???!!! Just such a twist and gut punch!! Then to find out Leah is his twin sister???? Every movie had something in it that caught you off guard, even though everyone should have seen it coming, but no one did. THAT was the genius of George Lucas. Trying to compare these Disney writers to George Lucas is like trying to compare .... well, you get the point. Think of the worst artist to compare against one of the best.

What I have to say about mother Anaseya has nothing to do with gender, color, or sexual orientation. I want to talk about motives.
First point: Anaseya says she wants to let Osha go with the Jedi. So why does she invade Torbin’s mind and amplify his desires to leave? This action causes him to recklessly rush back to the coven to kidnap both twins as proof of a vergence. If Anaseya can see the future, why does she mess with Torbin in this way?
Second point: Anaseya suddenly and without warning turns to smoke and starts disintegrating Mae, which doesn’t seem to have anything to do with letting Osha go with the Jedi.
So you have a character who says she is willing to let Osha go, but then messes with Torbin and then suddenly attacks Mae in front of Sol. Why? Her actions and stated motivation seem to be in direct conflict with each other. Once she is stabbed, she tells Sol that she was going to let Osha know, but her actions say otherwise.
Why does Anaseya use her thread powers? So we could see how cool the witches’ powers are. There seems to be no explanation in the show other than the writers wanted us to see how cool the witches’ powers are. Why does she say she was going to let Osha go after Sol stabs her? The writers want Sol to look like a violent idiot, so she makes this heart-wrenching comment but it is not supported by her actions, so it just sounds out of place. This is not good writing.
Last night I lit a fire and stabbed the smoke with a hot knife. The smoke was unharmed. If you want Sol to kill Anaseya, at least have some logic to how she dies. And falling back on something like, “oh you don’t understand how the thread or the force work” is a cop out. Don’t excuse bad writing with an appeal to magic. If there are rules to how lightsabers interact with thread smoke, you have to clue your viewer in to those rules; otherwise, a lightsaber killing smoke is just nonsense.

The difference with Disney, Kennedy and Headland, is that they say they're making a product to attract new viewers to the detriment and exclusion of existing fans, ultimately driving away the fanbase they'd originally intended to financially support the new direction.
Note to Disney: If you want to attract new fans, tweak a well written script to insert some interesting topic or thread, to which your targeted audience feels included, while staying true to canon in order to retain your fanbase- Not the other way round. You got what you asked for!

Princess Leia was just a member of the Imperial Senate and an agent of the Rebel Alliance, so she was off course an insignificant female in Mr. Lucas' vision. That Leia managed to thwart the Sith Lord Darth Vader and help bring about the destruction of the Empire's superweapon, the Death Star, can not really be attributed to her. That Leia commands a Rebel base in the Return of the Jedi is off course what only weak women would be assigned to, and her helping to rescue Han from the crime lord Jabba the Hutt, strangling him with a chain is not important! I have one thing to say to these creators: as Huey Lewis and the News said back in the 80s, sometimes bad is bad.
Lashing out at the hand that feeds you is not a great idea. Their way of defending their work is just getting them further and further into Hateland. There's a saying, "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

People watching a few episodes just to laugh at how bad it is isn't attracting new fans.

Mandala: so called fans only want to acknowledge male characters like Luke, Han, Leia, and Lando and ignore all of the great female characters like Rey, and Jar-jar and Amidala.
