- Deep in the forests and badlands of the Old World, the outcast Beastmen plot and howl. This is probably the most accessible and available of all the Old World armies, with their complete range already in stock for Age of Sigmar! Let's check them out in Part 3 of our Review of Ravening Hordes.
Big thanks to GW for the complimentary copy of the books to review.

THE reason why "this is the army with the most complete line" is... because almost nothing changed for them since 2015. The AoS range for Beasts is almost 1:1 the old WHF range the only additions I can think of are a single character and an Underworlds warband. Other than that a few special characters from back then are OOP, and all the rest is the same as 10 years ago.
For once this seems to be a good thing. XD
😊
And the headstone... which once upon a time was a guide on how to cut out of foam...
I always loved that the Beastmen can just get a scary castration tool as a magic weapon (for anyone that has english as a second language, "geld" as in the item "mangelder" refers to castrating livestock)
off with their nuts!!
Beastmen look fantastic, they have some very powerful models and cool synergies if you want that. Looking very forward to seeing more of them.
I'm glad to see Dragon Ogres moved back to beasts. Also, it's nice to see some of the 6th ed charm return. Shame they didn't retain the mixed gor ungor units and opted for the 8th ed comp. But I'll take it.
*7th
The lack of mixed hordes is a huge miss imo. They're making alot of rules universal (ambush, detachments, ect) which streamlines this a ton but I'm concerned armies won't feel unique.
I honestly prefer ranked gor + ungor spearmen with ungor bowgoats skirmishers but hey ho, is what it is.
@entropy2100 nope meant 6th. 7th dragon ogres and shaggoths and trolls were removed. The 6th was used until less than a year before 8th dropped.
@noahprickett7180 agreed. All of the 8th felt that way to me, to be honest. Most of the armies gained a big monster, and one special choice became the obvious megablock to deathstar with.
This sounds awesome, I believe I may be able to run a nearly fully Minotaur army if I have a Doombull as my general. I have a ton of Minotaurs, just need to get some 50mm squares for them.
Been away from youtube for awhile, but just wanted to say that I love the new intro music!
Khornegors, thems' the Gors that like Khorne.
Really digging the classic magic items like The Hunter's Spear, Pelt of the Dark Young, Blackened Plate, Rune of the True Beast...great stuff.
I'm super excited for my BoC to be able to play in TOW. Just need to find some movement trays that accept round round bases.
I think in a few weeks there will be plenty of trays that will do just that. There already are some actually. Good times ahead!
Looks great! Lots of old and new models
Bring back the Preyton!
Well Ash, my other army was Beastmen. Basically, I played DEs when I wanted to win, and beastmen when I wanted my friends to feel better about whipped the week before. I enjoyed them both, but DE were definitely Fantasy: Easy Mode and Beasts were Hard Mode. I did love the beast figs. I gave away my army years ago though when AoS dropped. Eh, maybe I’ll ask for them back.
Love the reviews.
Man… Gors on 25s is a pain considering they were on 32s for Age of Sigmar :( I don’t want to rebaaaase!
Just put them on a movement tray.
I bet you a lot more gors on 25mm squares exist in the world than 32 rounds.
@@jackrogers5712I intend to, but that means less minis on a tray and calculating around. But yeah, that’s what I’ll have to do.
Saturday morning reviews 🎊🥳🎉
I'm hoping the Beastmen Arcane Journal will include rules for (and model of ) Kholek Suneater. And a dragon ogre army list!
probably be in the Siege of Praag campaign book
No Beast Banner? RIP classic banner. Even if they changed the rules I would have liked the name to stay. Ive been a Beastmen player since 6th. Can't wait to try this army out.
Probably coming in their arcane journal
Guessing like a few others the marked units may come into play in the Arcane books. Seems where the alternative units would come into play.
So glad I've got a huge range of printed beasts....
where did you get yours from? Beastarium? One Page Rules?
My Warhammer armies are going to take soooo long to update lol, definitely may go in release order of new boxes to make things easier for me. Beasts are looking very interesting and playable though.
The bad news concerning this book is Ld max at 8... and the fact you cannot have both a lvl 4 and Beast lord or Lvl 4 and Doombull below 2000pts...
These are also tempting. but I'll have to stick to warriors of chaos and orcs, mostly for space and money reasons.
Not sure if anyone mentioned but at 6:29 you read the blood greed rule instead of the blood rage rule for the Chieftain
Minotaure as bases unit 😍
May be they will do skaven and lizardmen as a rise of clan pestilence box set when they decimated the lizardmen and they called sotek to drive them away
Legacy armies are only gonna get the PDF. Their minis are still available in AOS and they're totally playable but don't expect them to be included in the official narrative at all.
@@jamielaing5244 I mean way down the line to update the story ha ha in like 4 years
@@djc1376not gonna happen.
Skaven and Lizards only get supported in AOS
For now
When Necromunda started only four factions were said to be supported and now they are all back. When HH 2.0 launched only the legions were said to be supported, and now solar auxilia is getting launched. Same with blood bowl. Or aeronotica imperialis.
If the old world is a success, there's a possibility that the legacy factions could be brought back in 6 years for the second edition.
Could be their business model: Sell big boxes of 2 competing armies but limited numbers and space a year or 2 apart? I think Lizards vs Rats is on the cards as you say but others out before them.
No Tzangors is a little disappointing but should be fun to see what people do.
Nor Slaangors for that matter
Both Beasts and Warriors lost all of their god specific units. I hope they're brought back in the Arcane Journals.
do the magic weapon say like "needs to be a great weapon" or anything like that? putting my army together and not sure if that primordial club will be a 2 hander or a 1 hander i can use a shield with :')
I can only hoipe they are holding back Chaos Marks for the Arcane Journal. That's pure hopium, I know.
I based some Slaangors to use as Minotaurs and some Tzaangors to use as Bestigors, but they don't have a shield option it seems.
I really hope your right, I have a lot of Tzaangor some converted Pestigor and Khorngor as well.
I wonder if when ordering from GW it would be possible to ask them to replace the round bases with the correct square bases? I mean, the model line is already available.
According to the website, Beastmen come with square and round bases.
@jasonpeacock9735 might be the old base sizes though, some legacy AoS kits still includes square bases for some reason. Fine if you're buying Gors as they have the same but the others not so much
HANG ON HOLD UP
Minotaurs can AMBUSH!?!?!?
Game Changer
Wait, how? They don't have the ambush rule in the profile.
I understand 1×: gor, centigors and nogor
@federicosaviano137 it is skipped over in the audio but if you look closely under the Minotaur herd page it says....
(0-1 unit in your army may have the ambushers special rule
+3 points per model)
Keen to ambush some back lines with hard hitting cows
so no trolls or chaos ogres? I don't think I saw them in the going over of the units.. womp womp!! I was really hoping they would come back so I can use those miniatures again.
They are part of both Chaos factions. Ogres are a Elite choice and Trolls are a Rare Choice. (Beastmen)
(In WoC they are both Elite choices.)
Awesome, thank you for letting me know!! my models can live again!
@@lord.bragon
@@lord.bragon What about Furies/Harpies?
@@filiphanzl6507 Harpies are a Special Choice for Beastmen.
Erm, khorngors....
perhaps the Arcane Journal for stuff like that?
Yepp, you probably need to pay more for that stuff. :P
Pestigors?
Sexigors? Or whatever the Slaanesh ones are called
I that isn’t a unit it ought to be
No razorgor or did I miss that?
Razorgors are still part of the army.
centigors one less attack? not even two hand weapons?
They have a stomp attack now
Can’t say I ain’t disappointed that they left all the coolest spells from the old lore of the wilds out
Bestial surge, Traitor kin, bray-scream and savage dominion were all so unique. But they chose 2 flat damage magic missiles and a bog standard buffing spell which inexplicably can only be cast on self. Seriously why would I want my wizard in combat
Also pretty disappointing that primal fury has lost its main effect, the frenzy used to be a little added benefit for if you got real lucky rolling to get hatred
You speak very fast, and the video is blury, shame
You need to go to the doctor to get your ears checked and improve your screen resolution, cuz i see and hear him well
When I saw Beasts were a core faction I immediately knew I was finally painting a beastmen army!
