The former Met Detective says it is the "closest he ever came to death" in his job when the criminal held the shotgun inches from his face.
James Baigrie was convicted for killing someone with a shotgun whilst he carried out a robbery. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a maximum security jail... But he miraculously managed to escape.

Voice is perfect for these story’s
He needs to do audio books !!
Great story Great policeman Where has it all gone wrong?
I love listening to Peter, be it historical events like this, or when he comments on things that are happening now.
Penny from Christchurch. 🇬🇧
He’s so strait to the point, love this man. 🙏🏻🕊
Keep going, Peter. we right behind you, amazing man!!
He's got such a great voice for these type of videos, please get him to do more stories from his time in Scotland Yard
😁 the oldskool old bill 🤣
Yep , for sure .@@petersmith2522
Peter, have you ever considered doing a theatre tour. I'm sure you would be very popular as people are fascinated by true crime. If so, don't miss Exeter out.
I guarantee if he ever did, no serving police or retired police officer would attend.
Peter's voice soounds like the late great Len Goodman
Some sound the same, some look the same
He sounds like (and probably was) a copper like John Thaw from The Sweeney. Too many ciggies, liquid lunches, beating a confession out of suspects in the cell,
Seven!!!...😉
Reminds me of Brick top in Snatch
@@manpreetbrar838He came from the same borough as Len Goodman & thats why they sound similar.
Len lived in Blackfen (In his younger-years:-) & he lived in Barnhurst,Bexleyheath.
It’s only a few miles away.
The second cop was having his egg & bacon burger while his colleague in trouble 😅
They need to make a movie out of this guys life!😎
If that was now Peter Bletchley would of been reprimanded for not asking if he was a member of the LGBTAZXEBN And also hurting the man's feelings. And if he gave himself up he would of got 2 Weeks Community service.
Would have, not would of
Peter Bleksley is one of those ‘old school’ The Sweeney types of copper - too many ciggies, ignored the rule book as and when, two fingers to the top brass, informal ‘chats’ with suspects in dimly lit cells at night, unrecorded interviews to get a confession and liquid lunches.
Bullshit better copper than the Nancy woke brigade we got now!!
I thought he was undercover?!
Oh Walter !!
Peter were you the Officer who nicked Levi Belfield?
Flew a picture to Scotland?? They had FAX machines in the 80's.....
Who hasn't
A Russian police officer would have shot the suspect with possible conversations and interview if really necessary.
Peter "bullshit" blexley
Pity he never pulled the trigger!
Sounds made up to me
Was it? This story is verified by other police officers (Who have written books about their time:in the Police:-)& they are:Tony Long & Stephen French.
So you’re saying that this never happened & that this bloke is a liar, etc?
Armed-Response units didn’t exist in 1985 & Police officers took guns out, like they do today with Tazers.
Is it really? No it isn’t,it happened for real.
Before the creation of armed-response units:this happened for real.
@@MarineAqua45nah, made up
@@stanislavjohn6156How is it made up? It’s mentioned in a few books & there’s footage of it:on CZcams too.
The same peter bleksley that admits to being a racist.
Hurt your feelings did he ?
Me too
Wait, he pointed a gun at an innovent member of the public?
I suppose police never change....
You what? He pointed a gun at a suspect, thats who.
The Woman should of moved on. What was he supposed to do ?
