It's worth mentioning that Shiny breeding in Gen 2 can be much faster if you use the Dodrio Tower in Pokemon Stadium 2, which allows you to play at 4x speed. You can also tell if an egg is shiny before it hatches by looking at it in the PC in PS2, as the egg itself will have a different color texture/model if it's Shiny.

    • @jahmocha9542
      @jahmocha9542 Před 4 měsíci +22

Note that, if you wanna do this the 100% fully legit no hax way, you only unlock the Dotrio Tower if you beat EVERY BATTLE in EVERY STADIUM, in both Round 1 and Round 2. Which is nearly impossible to do with rental Pokemon, so you're gonna want to have a gen 2 cart and n64 transfer pack so you can enter real Pokemon in. And even then this is a difficult and annoying feat because Stadium 2 is full of bullshit.

    • @Ocarinist_Drew
      @Ocarinist_Drew Před 4 měsíci

@@jahmocha9542 Yeah I'd say more time consuming than difficult. If you go into the game with a solid team of OU level Pokemon, it's not that hard, but this is in a generation with very poor quality of life. Like maxing out stat exp (the Gen 2 version of EV's) takes forever, TM's are single-use, etc. What's that? You want a Hidden Power Ice Raikou? Good luck achieving that without a GameShark. Gen 2 is also perhaps the least explored generation for RNG manipulation.
I'll admit I shamelessly used Gameshark codes to skip the grind back in the day.

dexnav is actually boosted odds on every encounter, there's just an additional boost on the 50th and an even more boosted chance on the 100th, in fact there exists a calculator for it that tells you your precise odds given you scenario (research level, 50th/100th encounter and whether or not you have the shiny charm). I believe it is also worth noting that gen 6 radar completely resets your shiny chances when you catch your shiny patch shiny, even though the chain is still "active", additionally A LOT of the patch area in x and y are impossible to get ideal grass patches, significantly lowering your chances of reaching and successful 40 chain, with there being only a few notable areas where you can nicely use the radar (route 5, route 7, azure bays secret shore and the pokemon village to name a few)

11:51 small correction. If you quit the game before recieving the ore/pokemon you can play the exact same dynamax adventure with same pokemon. It will cost you dynite ore tho, and it goes up to 10 per each dynamax adventure you quit. So you can temporarily shiny hunt the non legendaries consistantly but not forever

One notable thing about the Ultra Space shinies is that a lot of the Pokemon they (seemingly nonsensically) chose are ones that have gender differences.
Which is to say: if you want every form in the Seedot line you need five non-shiny Pokemon (Seedot, Nuzleaf M, Nuzleaf F, Shiftry M, Shiftry F) and their corresponding shinies. Since you can get shiny Nuzleaf quite easily in the Ultra Wormholes it means that the hardest form in that line is, weirdly, shiny Seedot.
It's a huge blessing from the clever game developer who came up with that list, because similar Pokemon exist (like shiny Torchic, Combusken, and Blaziken has the same gender difference split but with terrible female odds) and these were equally annoying until Gen 7.

Something to note about Masuda breeding between SWSH and SV:
Getting eggs in SWSH is an active process, while in SV it's passive. So while getting eggs may be faster in SWSH, you can multitask while breeding in SV if that's important. Heck, breed something in SV and do another hunt in a different game while you wait for more eggs!

As someone who's done the manaphy and jirachi hunts, I wanted to add some info about the average lengths of those hunts.
For the wishmaker jirachi, you can skip a cutscene and use a save corruption to avoid having to totally restart the save, cutting encounters down to just about 90 seconds per jirachi. At that pace, it would take 10896 minutes to get to the 1/7264 odds of that particular hunt (or 181.6 hours.)
For manaphy, assuming you're hunting with 4 eggs on diamond/pearl, as is typically considered optimal, it's approx. a 20 minute reset per 4 eggs. This means you can reach odds in 40,960 minutes, or just over 682 hours. Manaphy could also be as slow as 163,840 minutes (2730 hours) if you're hunting with only one egg, as it's still a 20 minute cycle to get far into the game to trade.

A note on Ora’s dexnav. At a 999 encounter, + shiny charm, it has been calculated, tho varied, to be at a ball park of 1/180-1/200 ish chance. Which is ridiculously good. Your chains don’t really matter, except for the 50th and 100th, and the additional random 4% chance shouldn’t matter too much either.
It takes about an hour and 10 mins on grass dexnav, to reach 100 encounters on average.

It will take an average of 12 minutes to find ANY shiny pokemon in an LA mass outbreak, but if you're hunting for a specific pokemon, it would take much longer to find the outbreak that you want. It takes an average of 7 minutes to find an ultra space pokemon, but it would take an average of 140 minutes to find abomasnow. I would argue that it's much better to SOS chain for pokemon like pichu, gastly, and eevee for this reason.

Scarlet/Violet has a very specific encounter system.
Unless things have been changed in a more recent patch, a trainer will have up to 15 pokemon spawn in their vicinity at a time in single player mode. In multiplayer, this number is dropped down to 5 pokemon per player, which can total up to 20 pokemon if a full group of 4 players are in the same Union Circle. However, that is not a particularly safe method to shiny hunt since encounters in multiplayer will despawn if the player that starts the encounter tries to run from it. There might also be issues caused by disconnects or crashes brought on by the data exchange in multiplayer modes or the general issues brought on by longer play sessions of S/V specifically.

About sandwitch hunts in pokemon scarlet/violet: for a lot of pokemon it's a lot faster to hunt them outside of outbreaks, since picnics take time and the 15 pokemon don't always spawn instantly. So if you can guarantee their spawns with the right sandwich, you can cycle through pokemon a lot faster by just driving around. Especially if they spawn in groups of 5.

I would like to mention Poke Radar is faster than getting encounters once you max your odds, you never have to step into the grass once you're at 40 until you see the shiny grass, so you can get 4 "encounters" every 50 steps at max odds

The biggest slog of a hunt I did was the Entei/Raikou roaming hunt in HG/SS as part of my Shinylocke. And I did it the good old fashioned way on cartridge without having the luxury of speeding through the cutscene or save states from emulating the game. It took me 6 minutes per attempt on average (ranging from 2 minutes to about 20) and I got quite lucky, after exactly 1000 encounters I managed to get myself a Shiny Entei and I'm glad I had that one save once it spawned because in my first catching attempt my Crobat crit it to death. My heart definitely skipped a beat on that one.
The first Shiny I got in SV was a Scatterbug that I encountered full odds before even getting to Mesagoza. I was so happy and quite surprised that it evolved into a Fancy Pattern. I wish we still had the other Vivillon forms, they could have reworked the mechanic to have it evolve into a different pattern depending on where you evolve it in the overworld, but I definitely take Fancy Pattern as the consolation prize.

If you combine the dual slot mode (dongle method) of the gen 4 games and the pokeradar, its actually possible for several other pokemon not in bdsp to be hunted at a 1/200 rate (lotad, seedot, mawile, sableye, lunatone and solrok should be included in the tier with poochyena)

Felt like Celebi did time travel shenanigans to mock me irl by having me spend years to catch one to immediately just spend a few days after that momentous accomplishment to catch another one.

22:36 It never really "shut down" per se, they just took away the ability to buy anything new! As long as you've bought Crystal at some point beforehand, it'll still be in your purchase history, meaning you can redownload the game at any time. The game server shutdown FAQ also clarified that the eShop won't be affected, so that won't be a problem either (considering the Wii Shop is also like this, it should be this way for a few years at the very minimum).

I havent finished the video so forgive if this has been addressed but the gen 4 mythicals that are locked behind events are still obtainable through the void glitch so they can be shiny hunted as normal without the limited event items to reach them. no rng manipulation since you are only using glitches to reach them, not hunt them.

Radar hunting is actually pretty good once you adjust, any decent shake on a tile 4 squares away will increase your chain, and you just have to pay attention to squares in between you and it for ANY shake, and avoid them, once you get to 60, or the music changes(not to normal rout music), you get the max odds, you made a mistake, the odds are 0.5% (1 in 200) per square that rolled the Pokémon you are chaining, if at any point all squares that roll a Pokémon are not squares with grass/flowers, then your chain ends(if all squares that roll your Pokémon are not grass, but a square that isn’t your Pokémon is grass, it does not end your chain), at any point you can reroll grass without ending your chain, if you hop on your skates it ends your chain, and if all squares that rolled Pokémon go off screen, it ends your chain,(a square that rolls a Pokémon and is not a grass square still counts), and shiny grass will sparkle and make a chime

Some paradox things, the main crystal cave will only spawn Iron Valliants with a high enough fairy/fighting boost in Violet, The same is true for Ghost for Flutter Mane, with it in daylight forcing all the non shiny ones to vanish (you have to check time out of area zero then go in), while a pokemon like Roaring Moon in Scarlet has an issue that it shares typings with both the Deino Line (both types) or Sneasel line (on dark) in it's cave, though I cannot confirm this as it's been a while, I believe Sabeleyes may also spawn in the side cave (the one with the crop circle).
    off topic but
shoutouts to the person who's probably gotten every ribbon on a gen 3 shadow quilava meaning they carried that things ass through all of the battle facilities as a quilava (probably impossible unironically) all to get the one additional ribbon in PLA while allowing not conflicting with the legal pokemon in BDSP for the H-Typh

Note in regards to the encounter speed for Dynamax Adventures: there are a lot of variables that can influence the rate at which you complete adventures. Turning off battle animations can shave a good 2-3 minutes off your time, though this only works in single player; most prominently though, the legendary at the end can really drive your time up and down. For comparison, Kartana, which is one of the easier ones, I was able to consistently defeat every 8-10 minutes, whereas Zygarde, widely regarded to be the most difficult encounter in adventures, took me roughly 15-18 minutes. Because of this, I'd say that, averaging different encounters, as well as accounting for animations and the downtime between ending and starting an adventure, you'll get to about 12 minutes per check, which puts you at 1200 minutes to hit odds.

20:10 note that is sv it was changed to work in picnics but the egg production rate is time based and not step based but can be spead up by using a egg power sandwich (i highly recommend the great peanut butter sandwich which only needs peanut butter, butter and banana all easy to get ingredients) ot does however only last for 30 min and the basket can hold a max of 10 at a time so its best to claim them every now and again (i recommend evert 3 ish mins when using the sandwich i recommend) but multiple mon can be Masada-ed wt the same time just make sure that they are either all the same gender or are all different egg groups or they might breed with mon other than the ditto (also if you are doing reginal forms the mon with the regional form needs to hold an everstone and if you are doing multiple at the same time ditto needs to hold an destiny knot and all others need to hold an everstone even if they dont have a regional form [or vise versa if you are using ditto for nature all other mon need to hold a destiny knot])

I remember hunting for a shiny Roselia in hoarde encounters on ORAS, I spent however long hunting got two separate shiny Oddish and gave up- Then after not touching the game in thee months I was saved in the same area and decided to peek at the one hoarde, BOOM shiny Roselia! I can't tell you how many encounters I had, was probably over the odds having two other Oddish? I can say I know I didn't have a shiny charm for it though, little me sure didn't put that much work into the pokedex. Regardless that was probably my favorite shiny ever!

200 per hour for Ultra Wormhole resets seems a bit high. I did a lot of soft resetting in that gen and wanted to keep a rough estimate of where I was with each hunt so I timed it at right at 30 seconds per reset and I'd just keep track of the time I spent. Unless My 3DS was slow, I'd say it should be 120 encounters per hour. Not a huge deal, just thought I'd throw in my personal experience.
Your time estimate on the Dynamax Adventures seems pretty accurate to me. I was able to pair down the timing by turning off battle animations and doing offline raids. That worked out really well until it came time to hunt Kyogre and Zygarde. Those two were ridiculous and I ended up hunting them online.
    Nice video!

If you can build a large amount of encounters with dexnav in ORAS, just encountering the pokemon at all with that method will give you increased shiny odds. You can even keep chains going by searching for different pokemon if you're looking for ones with good IVs as well. I've pulled back to back shinies, as much as 4 in one day, by dexnav alone. It's worth noting that searching in caves and water is more difficult due to the way the pokemon move around, but in grass especially, I could probably find any shiny I wanted in under an hour there. I'm no data scientist so I don't know where that places me, but I do know a large majority of the shinies I got during my time shiny hunting were via that method.
