Did you know that a shiny Fraxure is harder to find than its evolution, Haxorus? And Axew is even harder to find than Fraxure? Well, now you do.

Thanks for reading the description; here's the full shiny list I made for this video in case you were looking for it. I hope you actually watched the video first and didn't just come straight here for the end results but hey, it's not like i'll ever find out if you did.

If you want a more updated and in-depth version of this list with Gen 9 pokemon and a few minor fixes, go check the video linked at the top of the description!
I’m not very far into this video, but I just wanted to say this is supremely well edited for how many subscribers you have. Great stuff!
was about to say the same thing
yeah honestly. it’s really good
Wow you’re right! I’m following now
Was literally scrolling down to leave this exact comment lol. This person has my subscription.
Subs doesnt equal quality idk why ppl say this comment so much
Hi, I want to add a little precision because I do a lot of SOS call shiny hunt: jangmo-o is sadly not able to be shiny hunted by the SOS method because it cannot be called by other Pokémon ( they will call Hakamo-o and Kommo-o instead)
Wish I’d known this years ago, I would’ve left my shiny jangmo o unevolved I found one wild after failing at chaining them for a while
One small thing I would like to note about shiny gene breeding is that you dont NEED a shiny Ditto. If you talk to a ditto in the daycare with a shiny Pokemon also in the daycare. There is a chance the game will say the ditto is "brimming with energy" meaning its stats are too similar to breed BUT it can still pass the shiny gene. This does however mean you have to catch a lot of ditto and compare them to a shiny.
The whole video is great, but I have to acclaim your use of Ranger music! Its OST is fairly unique and nostalgic, it was neat to hear it in this video in such a fitting way :)
I know you aren’t including Go, but I believe shiny rainy form Castform should receive a shout out. It’s the only non-normal form of castform that can be shiny. It’s only able to be shiny in Go, only spawns when it is registering that it is rain IRL, and has a low spawn rate regardless. Technically it would be the base Go shiny odds, but still.
…does it not immediately revert back to normal Castform once you catch it, though?
@@Scuuurbs in PoGo, the castform stay in the form they are caught as. And I believe they stay in that form while in Home as well. Once you transfer it to main series game tho, it most likely reverts to normal form.
@@tristanbowles7258
Ah, interesting! Yeah in the main games, Castform can only be normal form outside battle, no matter how you catch it.
Gotta appreciate the poetic irony of a shiny gyarados being the easiest and simultaneously the hardest across different generations
Loved the editing and jokes inbetween transitions, btw. great video!
my favorite in between clip is the MMO one, is exactly what's happening 😭😂
Great video! I would also like to add that, even tho shiny Magearna is supposed to be shiny-locked, there was a small window of time in Pokemon Home in wich, when claiming your Original Color Magearna, an error could occour giving you a Shiny Magearna instead. So it should also be counted as one of the rarest legal shiny pokemon right now, since just a few people managed to get this error
Bruv dunking on the sticklers at the end “YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT RARE BULLSHIT I’L SHOW YOU RARE BULLSHIT” GG great video
There is a method in the sixth gen games called horde hunting, it works like this: basically you use sweet scent to encounter 5 wild mons at the same time, they're at full odds but the probability of finding a shiny each encounter is 5 times greater, with shiny charm it reaches 0.36% which is not bad. It's not a good method for having shinies with the abilities or IVs that you want, but it's really easy to do and requires little brain use
I don't think you can reliably encounter the horde you want in places that have multiple different hordes so if you are hunting for one specific Pokemon (let's say Axew) you'd have to go to Connecting Cave, use Sweet Scent, and then have a 5% chance to get an Axew horde, then the odds for shiny, so it's a bit complicated
However, some Pokemon do have it a bit easier: Shuppet is the only horde in Mt Pyre interior, so hunting for a shiny Shuppet there is easier than S.O.S. Chaining (its listing on the tier list). Same goes for Whismur, which is currently listed as a Brilliant mon. I think that's it?
that doesn't actually change the odds, it just increases the speed of the pokemon you see, so it doesn't really count as a separate method
this video was made before gen 9 so i'm compiling a list of pokemon shiny rates in gen 9.
Gen 9 did not introduce any new shiny hunting methods with better odds than the masuda method, so any old pokemon don't have their odds boosted.
(Spoilers for the names of the new pokemon)
Shiny Locked: Gimmighoul, Gholdengo, Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, Chi-Yu, Koraidon, Miraidon.
Shiny Gene eggs from gen 2 (1/64 or ~1.56%): Annihilape, Dudunsparce, Farigaraf.
Dynamax Lair from gen 8:(1/100 or 1%): Kingambit
Masuda Method (1/512 or ~0.2%): Sprigatito, Floragato, Meowscarada, Fuecoco, Scrocalor, Skeledirge, Quaxly, Quaxwell, Quaquavel, Lechonk, Oinologne, Tarountule, Spidops, Nymble, Lokix, Pawmi, Pawmo, Pawmot, Wooper (Paldea), Clodsire, Tandemaus, Maushold, Fidough, Dachsbun, Smoliv, Dolliv, Arboliva, Squawkabilly, Nacli, Naclstack, Garganacl, Charcadet, Armarouge, Ceruledge, Tadbulb, Bellibolt, Wattrel, Killowattrel, Maschiff, Mabosstiff, Shroodle, Grafaiai, Tauros (Paldea), Bramblin, Brambleghast, Toedscool, Toedscruel, Klawf, Capsakid, Scovillain, Rellor, Rabsca, Flittle, Espathra, Tinkatink, Tinkatuff, Tinkaton, Wigglett, WIgtrio, Bombirdier, Finizen, Palafin, Varoom, Revavroom, Cyclizar, Orthwurm, Glimmet, Glimmora, Greavard, Houndstone, Flamigo, Cetoddle, Cetitan, Veluza, Dondozo, Tatusgiri, Frigibax, Arctibax, Baxcalibur
You can also use Sparkling Power Lv. 3 from a sandwich, and defeat 60 pokemon in a mass outbreak (which works differently than legends arceus) with the shiny charm to get the same odds, because as far as i can tell, the only one of these that is incapable of appearing in mass outbreaks are the starters. Paradox pokemon also cannot appear in mass outbreaks so they don't get boosted odds from mass outbreak streaks, and they also can't breed.
Sandwich (Sparkling Power Lv. 3) (1/683.08, or ~0.15%): Great Tusk, Scream Tail, Brute Bonnet, Flutter Mane, Slither Wing, Sandy Shocks, Iron Treads, Iron Bundle, Iron hands, Iron Jugulis, Iron Moth, Iron Thorns, Roaring Moon, Iron Valiant
Maushold and Dudunsparse also have rare forms that have a 1/100 chance of evolving into them, specifically the Family of 3 Form and the 3 Segment Form respectively, and work on the same mechanics as Wurmple (so you can't reset its evolution to get the one you want, it's set the moment the pokemon is spawned.) That means for those pokemon the odds of finding those forms are 1/6400 (0.0156%) for dudunsparce and 1/51200 (0.002%) for maushold.
edit: 10 days later and realizing that the fancy pattern vivillon is also obtainable in SV so it can now be hunted and gotten as shiny
this is super well researched and edited and was really fun to watch! one of my favourite aspects of pokemon is the ridiculous math and charmingly shitty code behind it all so videos like this that go into the numbers in staggering detail are what i live for. i hope the algorithm blesses this soon because it's an outright crime that it has barely any views
the shiny ponyta reaction was so nostalgic and hilarious
Do you know where the vid can be found today? I did some searching with no luck.
@@lightyagami3492 the video is titled "THERE IT IS", I just searched "shiny ponyta there it is" and it came up
It's so refreshing to listen to someone that actually knows what they are talking about when it comes to pokemon and shiny hunting.
Amazing video!
right?? and there's no wasting time. its info info info info with jokes in appropriate places. its very refreshing
This is an awesome video and I’m glad it exist so me and other players have a way of looking at plan for the national shiny dex. People are often fascinated by the semantics of it all so the water gets muddied when talking about shiny Pokémon especially if you want a specific nature or IV for whatever reason.
This is really good! I appreciate how you explained your tier list before you got to the rarest!
Virizion is the only Pokémon I’ve successfully soft reset for, and this video made me even more happy about it
Very nicely done on the video. The bit about Gen 2 genetics was wonderful. However, it seems you've missed one available method: ORAS Chain Fishing. ORAS chain fishing works exactly like it does in XY, but there are a few different Pokemon available. This would result in the following Pokemon to be moved down to the Chain Fishing Tier:
-Feebas
-Milotic
-Wailmer
-Wailord
Excellent video and I am excited to see the next one!
You're VERY underrated man, I clicked on the video and was suprised as soon as I saw your subscriber count, you're 100% gonna get somewhere so keep going man! You earned yourself a new sub :D Great editing, great pacing of the video and nothing feels out of place, also very original idea.
Your transitions on this video are so incredible. The “FISH” transition made me SCREAM.
This video was amazingly edited, was really funny to watch. Definitely deserve more love.
Great video! love your editing. and the amount of information you've packed into this video is crazy i can only imagine how long it took you to research half of this stuff!
You got me hooked with the concept of the vid, and you reeled me in with the batshit Genetics™ explanation, Big Shot, "You know what that means! Fish-", and the insane shiny spinda odds at the end. Earned a sub lmao
Love your editing style! You earned a sub. Keep up the good work!
OMG I love the funny intros to each category!!! Subbed
Your chapter transitions are genuinely funny, good job.
This is an amazing video, great humour and super well formatted to be informative. Good job!
excellent video, great research and explaination and the editing keeps u entertained while staying on topic and being informative.
This video was such a banger and I was shook when I saw you only had 2K subs, Keep up the good work my G
FANTASTIC video. I don't even remember which other 'Tuber put the link to it in a community post, it was well deserved and you've earned a subscriber, for what little effort or expense that costs me.
this is such a fun and informal video!! quick and staight to the point, edited well too!
Incredibly well put together! Thanks for the upload, very informative!
Awesome video! I agree with your tiers. I happen to have a shiny WISHMKR Jirachi that I “shiny hunted”, using RNG manipulation on retail which was very very hard, and I bet soft resets for it would be way more time consuming. I still don’t have shiny Manaphy to this date and haven’t found shiny Celebi in VC Crystal yet but shiny Celebi was also available from a Pokémon GO event, which I have. Thanks for making this video, it was very informative and nice to watch.
Same boat here, I RNGd for my Channel Jirachi which still took a few hours to do but I have mad respect for anyone who's managed it legitimately.
Mine is RNG manipulated too! I got it from a giveaway from I'm a blisy. It was generated completely on real hardware, even the cloning on Emerald if I recall correctly. I love showing it off, but I'd love to do a legit hunt for one someday.
@@Solaceon I cloned mine on Emerald too haha getting all the necessary things irl can be tough. I was lucky I found The colosseum bonus disc in Amazon back in 2017 and had the game cube-game boy link cable and everything else that I kept from my childhood
I was not expecting a pokemon genetics class today, but here we are. Great video!
This is such an informational video that it's probably the best resource now for find what methods should be used for which pokemon
Enjoyable vid, man. When you were talking about shiny breeding with a Ditto I legit thought you didn't know about that gen 1 trick hahaha
this was both interesting and fun to watch! excited to see future uploads like this from ya!
Adding this to my saved videos! Thank you for the analysis
Cool video, love seeing really specific, niche videos on this kinda thing. Shoutouts to sir toasty toes for the rec!
super cool and interesting video! your corkboard segment was really tough to actually hear and understand, but aside from that it was really good
this was awesome! super cool and in-depth video, very clear as well!
Glad I found your channel, very well edited and hope to see you grow ^^
I was worried this video this would just be a rereading of Bulbapedia or something like that, I appreciate the effort gone into this video!
the editing quality is insane man. great video!
the editing on this is so fun. good content op!! rooting for u :3
This video didn’t mention it, but I thought it important to add that the wishmaker jirachi doesn’t have normal 1/8192 odds, but instead, since the IDs are set up with different rates, it’s reduced to 1/7282 instead.
This doesn’t change the pokechannel jirachi, with that being normal odds, but there is a moderately complicated exploit in how saves work in gen 3 to not require having beaten the hall of fame to get it.
ORAS DexNAV explained:
the more times you've ever encountered a pokemon, the more likely you are to get a shiny variant, increasing by a tiny amount each time, with a bonus for intervals of 50 and 100. so you can get up to a 0.478% chance of a shiny when you've encountered 999 or more of a pokemon and you have the shiny charm, and up to a 2.039% chance at 1000, 1100, et cetera, though statistically speaking you'd get a shiny well before reaching that number. this method is extremely chill because there is no breaking chains. you just use the search feature to make who you're looking for pop out of the grass and sneak up on them. if they don't appear or another one randomly appears before your chance to do a manual search just walk a screen away and do like 40 steps i think, maybe less, and try another search for them.
Technically with the platinum level 1 magikarp, you could catch it in a master ball to show it was caught and not bred since that doesn’t pass by breeding
Good voice, good quality and easy to understand. great vid you deserve way more subs
Dude your editing is great. Looking forward to your next video!
This is a brilliant video. Sending it to all my friends because you deserve more recognition.
love the editing, great work!
How have I only just found your channel, love the video 😊
Big fan of this! I love the rise of people who actually know shit about pokemon doing videos. I was about to set aside the idea of doing a wormhole hunt but you’ve encouraged me to continue. This video was educational, entertaining and extremely well done.
this was such a nostalgic and well put together video-amazing job! spent hundreds of hours of my life shiny hunting 😩🥹
same, too many hours lmao
anthpo recognition is such a huge compliment damn
Wow I can't believe the facts and science presented in this video, very good resource for shiny hunters and those who just plain like having fun with different colored critters! Keep it up!!!
The video is really well done, hope to see more from this channel
Great video, super helpful and informative!
The transitions between slides are impeccable. Godlike references
Glad this popped up in my recommended. Really enjoyed =)
8 minutes in and very much enjoying this video. thanks for taking the time to make this. it’s fun to see people lose their minds over figuring out how this convoluted shit works
I've wondered this exact same thought before, which shiny is hardest to get due to the Pokemon's availability, thanks for the vid :D
The IRL bit was hilarious, good job!
thank you so much for your hard work on this!! great video :)
this video was beautiful, one of the most entertaining and well researched pokemon videos i've watched
Such a good video thanks for making !!
an extremely good and well edited, informative video! im shocked you dont have more subs/views, this is great
Very well edited mate!
I really appreciate all the musical gags in the scene transitions.
Yo great video! Really well done and you've got a lot of charisma!
the craziest "trophy mons" would be fun
lvl 1 gyarados is unbeleivable!
another rare but not as crazy mon is fishing into whirlpools in dragonspiral tower will give you a 1% chance to find dragonite
Excellent video, you deserve more subs.
Me, not even that interested in shiny hunting: Amazing and useful video!
The transitions were incredible and
the ranger music was great too ! It kind of was like a foreshadowing to the terrible Manaphy hunt lmao
+1 sub
Ps : I thought I knew most things about shinies, but I never even heard of the marks in Sw/Sh before ! Never too late to learn :P
One method that was left out is the Poképark in Gen 6 where you would get a shiny in around 50 encounters, which was the bets method to get a shiny ditto before well... the hacked one appeared. Other than that it's a superbly well made video, astounding work! :D
Dude, I love your energy in this video, How are you so low in subscribers? Definitely earned my subscription man, hope you find tons of success .
I once found a shiny skitty in pokemon go! On charmander community day...
Damn this was a ride. I actually learned some things from this. Like I had no idea about the gen 2 genetics BS you were on about.
You got my sub for sure had a great laugh and learned a good bit!
I’m always an advocate for “subscribers not equaling editing quality” and this is definitely one of those cases
also, you seemed nervous about the presentation part, but i really enjoyed watching how you presented to the camera. keep at it and trust yourself and youll be good!!
This comment us for the algorithm. This is a gem of a video, deserves more traction. Well done
That shiny ponyta reaction had me deceased! 🤣🤣😂😂
The original video was from the channel Abenzio499. Pretty sure its gone now.
@@markpickman236 Dang.. I was wondering why i couldn't find it. That's a shame.
3:20 killed me, how do you not have more subs lmao
Actually brilliant edits
Awesome video! Very funny and informative. You did good research,!
really well crafted. love this
Amazing content, I was looking for literal earlier today wondering if shiny Manaphy was the rarest hunt ever 😅 Ty!!
You're a madman
Props to you bro. Great video
What an awesome video. Thank you!
a lot of very funny words, a real good white noise video. good stuff, keep pushing :)
aaaaa i love this video, shiny hunting is a special interest of mine and im only halfway through and this video is perfect
The bit at 3:59 is reassuring, I thought I was the only one that remembered Abenzio499!
absolutely loved your video. i only had one slight issue. unown and spiritomb cannot be found via normal outbreaks and instead are only found in massive mass outbreaks. other than that small detail, the video was fantastic!
This video is great, I’ve now started a silly little challenge where I take a dex number and hunt them according to this list. So far I’ve gotten cottonee through sos, and skarmory and charizard through breeding in gen 2 :)
So I normally don’t like nor comment on videos. But this definitely earned a sub! Very very well put together video and I can’t wait to see what other content you put out. Keep up the amazing work and scripting!
underrated and I really love it! I subbed just now.
Nice explanations!
The three legendary birds (and Mewtwo) can be caught in Gen 1 and transferred forward to be shiny if they have the right stats when caught. There's 2 possible HP values, 8 possible Attack values, and 1 value each for Defence/Speed/Special which result in a shiny when transferred forward.
This was a gem of a video. subbed =)
25:16 I don't know why but this actually scares the crap out of me, I had a blanket over my head and thought someone was right next to me
