  • Inside look at a Toyota VVT-i cam gear that was making the rattle noise on start up. It only does it when the engine is started cold. The bit to take it apart is a Torx plus 5 point T30. I didn't really see much wrong with this one maybe someone else can chime in if they see something. The part number is 13050-0T010 it's off a 2009 Matrix. The used one I replaced it with was off a 2011 Corolla and was part number 13050-0T011.

aside from cleaning out any oil sludge or varnish what happens is the spring loses tension over time and does not push the locking pin into place,..stretch the spring out about 1/8" and it should work again....also make sure pin slides easily in it's bore,..no varnish build up

So there's Torx, T-x, then there's external Torx, E-x. Now there's Torx Plus TP-x and there's also Torx Plus 5 point TS-x...... Oh my.

He had to have perineal hernia surgery and pretty much needed 24/7 care. He needed to be kept calm and had to be limited in his activity. He can chew the stitches out of a baseball so I had to make sure he wasn't trying to remove the stitches or even lick the wounds. I set up a temporary office in the garage and even slept down there with him for 2 weeks straight, I used the CZcams live feature so I could watch him on my phone when I had to go upstairs to eat and the occasional shower. During all this I left the videos up so I could track his healing progress. I am happy to report that all is well now with him and he is back to his old self. If anyone in the Atlanta area needs a good surgeon Dr. Toby Carmichael did an outstanding job and was also cheap. He is with Lake City Animal Hospital in Acworth Ga.

Does anyone have an explanation for my case?
I Replaced 2 times consecutive the cam phaser ( $500+ on parts) using brand new OEM Toyota part, fallowing the Toyota TSB , tightened the gear UNLOCK , turned the cams clockwise to LOCK the gear , even I took pictures to be sure 💯 , crank it up and the ratting was heard in PARIS in both Both occasions 🤦‍♂️

@@64arguz Mine still makes a little noise but it was a used one from a junk yard. I don’t really remember how it even works, could it be lack of oil pressure…?
