    Here is my Elderberry Astragalus Syrup Recipe. You can omit the astragalus root if you don't have that available.
    100 grams (3.5 ounces) dried black elderberries
    25 grams (0.88 ounces) dried astragalus root
    25 grams (0.88 ounces) dried ginger
    10 grams (0.35 ounces) whole cloves
    1 cinnamon stick (I use Ceylon or true cinnamon!)
    1 liter (1 quart) of filtered water
    Raw honey to taste, about ¾ cup (about 6 fluid ounces)
    Simmer all ingredients except the honey for about 20-25 minutes until the water is reduced by about half. Strain through cheesecloth. Alternatively, you could use an unbleached cotton muslin bag to add your berries, roots and herbs to, and boil that in the water so you don't have to strain after. As your syrup is cooling, add your honey to taste. Once cooled, store in the fridge and use as needed. I usually take a tbsp once a day as a preventative and when I am feeling rundown or something coming on, or others in my family are sick, I'll increase that and take it three or four times a day. This should store for several months in the fridge.
