    Costco! Recently bought Roomba i8 on sale for $560, and this is one smart vac. It empties its own bin, and does a great job of mapping. You can edit the map to give rooms custom names, set up no-go zones to avoid (for example, where it might get tangled up in wires), and create clean zones such as in front of the sink or front door so you can send the vac just to those trouble spots. Add in schedules for where to clean when, and this has been a great vacuum for us. It's a treat to have perfectly clean floors, every day, with no effort from me.

    Roborock offers a Self-Emptying Base and a Comba package called the Roborock S7+. It's $950! Would that possibly be better than the Roomba S9+?

    • @krisalis709
      @krisalis709 Před 2 lety +4

      While I personally would buy an S7+ over Roomba S9+ the S7+ still has some downsides.
      The auto empty system isn't as good imo. Through torture tests you can find online Roomba's auto empty scores consistently the best. This is mostly because of patented bin technology that all the other companies are just mimicking.
      The S7+ mopping is still just meh. If you're serious about having super clean floors the attachable mop is just a gimmick and not a serious feature. This is because you can't use cleaners with the attachable mop, but you can with dedicated mopping robots.

      @TiltedTripodMedia Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah that’s exactly the comment I was just making they didn’t mention the Roborock and self empty bin and it’s light years ahead of Roomba I tested out the Roomba S9 plus and I hated it because the brush roll sits so low to the ground it gets stuck on stuff from time to time the dust sensor constantly needs attention because it won’t let you vacuum until you clean it and camera base navigation sucks it’s not as efficient and it can’t navigate in the dark.

    • @spacemoon56

      Yea I agree. Deebot is one of the top robot vacuums

    • @TiltedTripodMedia
      @TiltedTripodMedia Před 2 lety +5

      @@spacemoon56 I had the deebot t8 aivi with self empty bin and the vacuumed itself was fine however the small duel extractor port design on the empty station is a bad design as large chunks of sod due can’t be sucked out where as the Roborock sucks all it’s debris out the main large brush roll through a big port. Also the deebot software and app isn’t as good. It would constantly erase my map and I’d have to remap the house. Honestly the optical avoidance that many of these robots have using cameras to detect objects and then vacuum around them isn’t really a feature that’s necessary. I mean don’t keep a cluttered house pick things up that are small like cables laying around in the middle of the floor it’s really not that difficult then let the thing vacuum. I mean if you were using an upright vacuum you would pick up the floor before vacuuming wouldn’t you?

    • @TiltedTripodMedia

Funny thing I recently got rid of the deebot as I had all the issues you did eventually and I got the roborock s7+ and it works way better than any other even better than the rumbas and their annoying dust sensors that need constant attention. Also laser navigation is way better than cameras. Yeah that's what I thought just keep a tidy house I mean why would you want stuff laying all over your floor anyway? As for cords I just tie them up out of the way.

Just bought one in June 2022 and ended up returning it because it would go over the same areas multiple times, skip other areas completely, get stuck in places where it should be able to get out of and yes not returning to the base. In other words, the software of the vacuum makes or breaks it. So until they fix the software and improve algorithms, it’s trash.

I have tested the iRobot Roomba S9 plus and I have a video of it over on my channel and I did not like it the camera base navigation is definitely lagging behind the laser based navigation on other robots and that dust detection center constantly getting dirty and needing attention is annoying. Yeah, as someone who purchase one of those this past weekend, then had massive software issues with getting the bloody thing to actually vacuum, stay far away from Shark’s robot vacuums. Despite following the exact requirements in the manual of amount of space around the base station, the vacuum basically refused to go further than 2 feet away from the base station when requested to vacuum. Also, hair gets really really really stuck on those “self-cleaning rollers”. Plus despite having extremely good WiFi, the bot regularly lost signal. It also regularly got stuck in corners and on cables. Basically anything below the LIDAR field of view made the bot fail to do its job. And the final kicker was the inability to actually see the cleaning progress live. The iRobot J7+ is a way better deal.

      @parvezahmedjalil7310 Před 2 lety

      @@ameerali.ouarda The Dyson is not great.. Battery terrible, buggy software and hardware is poor. Sensing unit is only slightly better than a dumb robot vac without sensors. Also very very expensive compared to the competition.. Honestly not a great experience. In some cases even gets stuck and doesn't even notify you and then dies.. Also can't locate charging dock and dies. The LiDAR mapping robo vacs are the best as they work in the dark and low light and are able to map and navigate a lot better. If you can still return it then do look at some of those options. Will save you a ton of money and also offer way way superior performance!
      I guess your experience has been different? 👍😃

    The difference between the low-end and mid-range prices is ridiculous. There are vacuums for $200-$300 and the mid-range should be within this price. $130-$600 is not a reasonable jump.

      It’s hardly a good workout. Yesterday my robot started vacuuming and I went on a 35 mile bike ride. When you are not tied to chores, you have freedom to do other things. Whether that’s getting in a workout or just relaxing on the couch. It’s why these robots are a successful idea.
