    High in neuroticism, and low in conscientiousness here.
    Avoid sugar and nicotine, move every day, avoid social networks and news and sleep well.
    Related jobs => create your own company, start-up, web development, anything that allows you to explore, analyze, make music, innovate and find new solutions... Anything that allows you to activate your alertness.
    Don't expect anything from the system. The system seeks stability, you are there to challenge it. The system is there to create conformity.
    1) Build your habits - Really this is the key. ( Track your progress)
    2) Start creating - you will only be successful if something interests you. But to be successful, you have to be persistent, so you have to develop your habits.
    Personal advice => try to learn to code, gently, it will shape your thinking, your mind to cut a problem in several parts. And you will be able to execute it, step by step. And to try to learn code, or anything else try to learn how to learn.
    Remember that your uniqueness is useful in some environments and useless in others. This is true for all personality traits. So what is a problem in one situation is a strength in another. It's a matter of perspective.
    I think you have been paying attention to the current world situation. The world needs freshness, renewal, so trust yourself.
    Keep faith.

      Nibba just put you some music on, shut down all social media, and get to writing. If the blank page is too intimidating then put some notes on the page just to get rid of the empty void. Make a habit of it. Don't talk about it with other people because then it puts pressure on you to perform. If you get twenty pages done and start to think the book suqqs or it just isn't fun to write, abandon the whole thing and try another book. I said twenty pages but maybe go for fifty before you make the call to continue. And don't worry I'm an expert on this, I've written tons of books. And all of them are freaking hard to do and give me a lot of pressure, but very rewarding too because it gets those freakin' ideas OUT of my head... lol!

      This comment is so relatable because that was me for the past 11 years since finishing school. I fucked around in so many different jobs/careers and nothing felt right, I had so many ideas of books and side hustles I wanted to write/do which I never got round to because the self-doubts always crushed them before I got anywhere. But in the past 6 months I've managed to turn things around dramatically. I deleted all social media, avoided the news as it stressed me out, and got stuck into self-help books (I usually struggle to read a book a year, but I'm on a roll now - you just have to find the right book to kick off the cycle and start a habit. Try audio books if you're like me). For reading I recommend 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck', 'Manifest: 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life' (I was sceptical too but TRUST me on this), 'Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway', and 'Atomic Habits'. Can't hurt to chuck in '12 Rules for Life' as well. Stick to your habits, avoid negative self-talk, focus on building resilience and commitment, and don't give a shit about what anyone else thinks.

    I am in the 78th percentile for Neuroticism and the 89th percentile for Withdrawal. There is a lot of me that I am trying to figure out improve on, but I’ve noticed one thing that has significantly helped me is regularly practicing a combat sport. I do Jiu Jitsu and have been doing it for eight months now. Some benefits of that are: increased ability to handle stressful situations, learning to relax under pressure, learning that it’s up to me to change my situation for the better, increased confidence in many areas of life, and generally I find that I’m in a better mood than before I started training. This has been helpful for me but it might not be helpful for all. I am moderately agreeable and 38th percentile in politeness, which means I enjoy the conflict and the battle. It’s cathartic for me and it improves my mood and well-being after each session.

    Apart from politics, Jordan Peterson is essentially speaking of me: even if I don't have taken a professional personality test, I strongly believe that I have exactly this personality profile: generally high in openess to experience, very high neuroticism, very low in consciousness. I don't know whether my "high functioning" autism is the cause of the great variability in terms of extroversion and agreeableness that I see. I am much less industrious compared to my parents, but neuroticism runs in my family a lot: my mother tends to be anxious, my father (a tax advisor with two employees) is prone to anger and was treated for anxiety as an adolescent, and three cases of major depression (my sister tried to kill herself at the age of 16 and my 91 yo grandmother has taken anti-depressants since the age of 31). Like he described, I am very creative in my ideas and questions about many subjects, but I change my interests and perspectives a lot, especially through bad experiences. My cognitive abilities are impacted by autism (social skills, manual dexterity, etc.) and unbalanced: even if my IQ was a moderately high 124 as measured by my psychologist, I think my logical and verbal abilities are much better than, for example, foreign language ability, math skills or memory. My interests are broad and peculiar, but the most intense and persistent ones are associated with my neuroticism, such as security (physical security, etc.) and human genetics and "biological variability", the latter associated with my sense of physical and mental inferiority. Years ago, after less than two months of study, I was able to enter as a high school graduate in medical school, which is much less selective in my country (Italy) than in the USA. Due to my autistic and mental limitations, I am afraid of my future, I know that I will never be a doctor and find another way to cultivate my interest in human genetics, which is the only thing that matters for me. In the end, money and genes are the most important factors for everyone, and I am disadvantaged in both ways.

    The last line is powerful and can easily be proven just look at how a group of different women all react to the same situation and how a group of men react. You will probbaly find that most of the women react in similar way to their peers and the Men will react in a different way but again comparable to most of their peers. Men generally don't just jump as quick as possible to the emotional reaction and women will get their straight away or find a way to get their as quick as possible. Men may have a brief reaction but then take time to assess and think it through properly. Women will assume their first reaction is automatically right and run with it despite presented with opinion, observation or even evidence to the contrary. Both of these types of reactions are completely about the person in question general temperament.

    • @zzzMrgamerzzz
      @zzzMrgamerzzz Před 3 lety +6

      Logically wrong, not morally wrong. People who are creative produce millions of ideas before they end up on one which lands them a place as one of the greatest mind of all time. The deadly part is with regards to people who are emotionally unstable (neurotic) and highly creative. They produce on the extremes, basically a loose cannon that can destroy the entire opposing army in a war, or kill all of their comrades.

      @@zzzMrgamerzzz That is not always the case. Especially if you are highly neurotic. I can speak from personal experience that even though my conscientiousness is very low. I will take the time to research and test my ideas because of the fear of failure which comes with being highly neurotic. Ideas come easily, finding one which truly solves the problem can be a challenge.

    •  Před 2 lety

      I understand creativity as any type of problem solving. That's what I learned in college by the way. Creativity is used to brainstorm ideas to help disabled people for example. There's a book called Design Thinking by Tim Brown that talks a lot about using creativity to help people. But if Peterson means the old idea that creativity is painting a canvas with different colors like Jackson Pollock would do, maybe it's dangerous, since it may mean exploring extreme things. On the hand, it may be good if you have a stable mind.

    • @letsgoBrandon204
      @letsgoBrandon204 Před 2 lety +1

      He didn't say that creativity is deadly and wrong. He said that most creative ideas are wrong, and many are deadly. There are actually very few genuinely good ideas. Most ideas are stupid.. like postmodernism.
      The way I see it is that neurotic creatives latch on to something and try to 'fix' it at any cost. This means they're emotionally motivated to replace the status quo with something.. anything. Emotional reasoning doesn't result in effective problem solving.

  • @milahu
    @milahu Před 5 lety +4

    the problem? neurotics will always have a "two element view"
    and will never understand "factor analysis" = "four element view" as in "good order vs bad order vs good chaos vs bad chaos". "understand" as in: feel, generate, produce, create, procognize, predict, foresee, .... neurotic is just a strange word for "stupid but strong". extraversion is just a strange word for "pride".
