    Thanks for the video. I just bought this turntable, and your video really made the set up simple and straightforward which you don't necessarily get from just reading the instructions. Seeing someone do it is very helpful. I paired my turntable with a Marshall Stanmore II speaker, and the sound is amazing. Thanks again.

    Wow! 45 minutes... Thanks! That was a good, detailed look at the turntable, and setting it up.
    As you said, it looks a decent step-up from the suitcase type player. It's a shame though at the price, that it doesn't offer the automatic convenience features that the likes of the AT-LP3 and Sony PS-LX310BT offer at a similar price point, however, if a manual turntable is wanted, then yes, it's a good option!
    I really like those Beatles themed record cases... the Apple label looks really sharp! I'd love to see one with the blank original UK Parlophone label too (black/gold or black/yellow); it'd compliment the Apple box nicely!

    It is a very good mechanism. It has the disadvantages of the case that quickly picks up the vibrations if you have the speakers on the same table, but also of the hinge that holds the arm (vibrates on all 3 axes). It is generally over the Chinese mechanisms with plastic plate that vibrates and sapphire / diamond needle but preamplified with the feet. It is a medium to good device, a good start for those who want to listen to quality vinyls. Several "companies" took over the mechanism, making decent record players.

    Hello to Record-O-logy sorry I missed your live show been having trouble with internet lately found when I got home that day it was out for 2 days very upset about that ,but I got to say I think Crosley has heard what customers really want from their products and they have come thru and their products are much better than ever before and like you always say this company cares about the customer and they should thank you [I hope ] for being one of their avid fans or product reviewer and you make it FUN to see ,this TT looks like the one Techmoan reviewed a while back that hjad the Dual name badge ,he thought it was a well made TT and recomened this TT as a good way to get into records,its not a bad TT and I think it is a good starting point for a person looking to get into records ,I also agree with the 45 adaptor it should be aluminum the C-10 that I have came with a very CHEAPO 45adaptor I did not like it so I got a adaptor in aluminum by crosley in black and it goes well with the C-10 I liked it so much I got onr for my wife in red for her dansette redcord player and one each for my girls and they loved it ,hopefully from the last vid I saw of you that the 45 adaptor you sowed with the record - o -logy logo comes out soon since I see your show a lot I should have one as a collectors item cause its cool!!!! • @Apo458
      @Apo458 Před 5 měsíci

      Almost 3 years late, but yeah the anti-skate on these models doesn't work at all.
      In may of 2022 I had bought a C100, but the tonearm would drift towards the middle on a CD (yes, I know it isn't a proper method to test it). Also, when I placed the stylus on the lead-in or runnout groove the tonearm would rapidly move towards the middle. In fact, you can see that happening on this review at 33:22
      I opened mine and saw a flimsy metal wire attached to the dial and that was it, no spring no nothing. After a few days I returned it cause I started to notice a quite but rather annoying ground interference sound. After that I got an LP60X which I recently sold, but it was such an amazing little turntable. Now I'm looking forward to buy an LP120X

    If I were to purchase my LAB-140 (which I paid $130 in 1985) I will have to spend close to $330 for it. Of course, it does not have BT but is a DD and still works! And I own a second DDTT! Is a Technics SL-2000 and the third one is the SL-BD35, both in perfect working condition as well. That is not a bad unit itself.

    If you're going to play an excellent analog medium through Bluetooth, I'd recommend knowing whether or not this uses the audiophile AptX audio profile. If not then the bluetooth would be equivalent to MP3 at low bitrate, mitigating all the advantages of listening to an LP.

    A couple of things I am wondering: You pointed out that it is selectable 110 or 220 Volt, but the input is through a 12V wallwort. So I guess the voltage selection is just there for the same base is used on a more expensive model?
    And the 33rpm fine tune, its on the underside, so how to you adjust that while the turntable is spinning?
    Otherwise a comprehensive review. Thank you.

    • @Recordology
      @Recordology  Před 2 lety +1

      Correct I messed up on the voltage selector. That’s an empty punch out for different models. And correct again, adjusting the speed on the bottom of the unit is tricky…. Balance between two chairs etc…

  • @7JANEWAY
    @7JANEWAY Před 2 lety +2

    This looks a lot like an AT LP 120. But the main difference is that the 120 is direct drive, while this TT is belt drive.
    As far as the motor noise issue with direct drive TTs: I’ve had a 120 and now I have a 140XP. I NEVER heard any rumble or motor noise on my 120, even though it had a reputation for motor noise. I know some did have an issue; I did not. I stepped up to the 140 simply because I wanted to go up a notch in the “food chain”, and NOT because I had issues with my 120. In fact, I sold my 120, and the person who has it now has had no issues with it. So, based on my experience and observation, I don’t believe that anyone purchasing a 120 now is going to have any serious issues with it.
    Of course, this brings up the never ending debate between belt and direct drive. I will say it again, as I have before: I am an audiophile myself (but not a snob about it, or I wouldn’t be watching this channel 😀😀😀), and I highly prefer direct drive TTs. Why? Simple: higher torque motor and no belts to mess around with. BTW: what determines how long your belt lasts is simply how much you use it. If you play records a lot, you’ll have to change the belt more often than if you play records occasionally. And I would challenge anyone, all things equal, to prove me wrong that direct drive TTs are NOT listening tables. I’ve found that things like the cartridge and stylus make more of a difference in sound quality than the TT does. Or speakers or platter mats, too.
    (btw, the strobe light on the 140 is blue. As I’ve said, it looks really cool with my green lit platter mat!!! So if you’re looking for a blue strobe light…..😀😀😀)
    I do have to ask: is that album one of your thrift store finds?
    So now I’ll look forward to your next “movie of the week”…….

    Exceptionally nice Crosley phonograph. Your review was very much appreciated.
    Those LP storage cases have a lot to be desired. As a woodworker they look poorly
    executed. At least they could have supplied bung hole type caps for the holes to
    cover the screw heads! A trip to a hardware store would be needed, and don't glue them in.
    They should have a shoulder to gently tap them in later so they can be removed to take apart.

      @@Trekkie4Interesting. They are both competent low end carts although they have a decidedly different feel about them. I think the 3600 is a little more up front. I still use it for recording 45s with an upgraded LP Gear stylus. This turntable resembles a Gemini knockoff I used a bunch of years back, without the blue tooth, of course, and a Gemini cart which I think was a rebranded AT. A certain segment will certainly find this turntable to be more then adaquate for their needs and, of course, for some it could be a jumping off point to a better product.

    Also, don't worry about troll comments. Remember that all social media sites have the same business model as someone who passes out free megaphones in a homeless camp.

    At one time I had over 2,000 albums and anther 1,000 45's, so these crates wouldn't work for me. I use a homemade bookcase.

    There’s only one turntable that should look like that and that’s the original and best Technics SL-1200, so save your pennies an’ get one instead! Peace.

    If you can put a real cartridge on it, it’ll sound pretty decent.

    Uh the crosley and victrola are the same as they were.......both companies were never high high end or low end crap.....that's where both stand now.. especially crosley. They do have low end suitcase players due to that's what the mass market wants and they both are mass market companies. The other thing is...both companies are like 100+ yrs old and times have changed since 1920😂😂😂. The Audio equipment has gone down in price which means cheaper quality. If you look at 1970s audio equipment they are wayyyyyy more expensive even for entry-level stuff

      I looked up Crosley Radio. The original Crosley Radio was in business from 1921 to 1956. The new Crosley's began production in 1992. Their parent company is Modern Marketing Concepts, a reiteration of the Crosley name. Victrola has a similar heritage. Take care.

      @@Recordology If I can see via YT video that it is flimsy, plasticy, somehow doesn't feel right (and out of the box should keep at least speed without adjusting pitch right away) then I would always suggest to go either more reliable and proven one or even go vintage (used) route. I bet you some DD (Technics as one example) from the 1980's (of course, if not abused but if normally used and listening) keep their quality even after 40+ years. This one is new, I give you that. Resembles to 1200/1210 (platter at least) and that is what will be eye catcher and lure people in to buy them. I would pass on this. Just my opinion.
