I completed it on Ally, maybe the legion go needs a driver update like the Ally did.
Change OS power mode to efficiency for better performance on the GPU
Thanks for showing your live experience! Clearly some troubleshooting is necessary, but it’s worth reminding folks that seeing these issues and dealing with them is a part of the experience worth talking about. Just like it is worth talking about on the steam deck, or a pc, or any other device.
The GPU in the Z1 extreme, is equivalent to between a GTX 1650, and a GTX 1650 TI. If those can run this game, the Legion Go can too. Almost certainly a driver issue.
I’ve been running Starfield on the legion go since launch thru steam. No crashes. No issues. 1280 x 800 on med settings on balance mode. Smooth
Jesus bro, isn’t that 400p? lol
@@GrimAbstracthow is that 400p?? It’s 800p.
@@aprilcummings1416 do you know how fsr and dlss work? I suggest you look it up lol
@@aprilcummings1416balanced FSR he meant maybe? I don't know what that sets the internal resolution to, but it's something like 576p? Then upscaled to 800p
it's perfect here too. The author didn't update the drivers.
Never had that problems! You have to update the drivers. The game runs perfectly after updating drivers.
I hope the performance will hold, I just bought a 1tb legion go from best buy open box excellent condition under $700
Installing the 7840u 780m driver will help. Its lenovo's fault for not releasing gpu driver updates. Also make sure you are on the bios that was released a few days ago, way more stable
I was thinking it was the drivers. I remember there were lots of crashes for people on the Ally playing this game before the driver update.
this. Made a world of a difference. I was on the fence about returning my go but after the 7840 driver I'm definitely keeping my Go
Keep us updated! Lenovo is planning a uodate nextweek. Maybe you can cover it with other games as well😊
You changed your VRAM to at least 4gb? It’s defaulted to 3gb. I’ve been playing on the legion with it set to 4gb for the last few weeks but the performance monitor says it’s using 90% or more of that allocation so if you’re at default then it’s gonna go over.
i hadn't when i filmed this video, but i'm moving it to 6
The update makes it run sooo much better. I updated and running like butter
Which update?
@@portersmith5197 Make sure to get update 7840u 780m driver. That update makes the experience on the Go night and day.
@@portersmith5197 you have to go on the website and manually download the driver. Which is why ao many people haven't updated their Go. Lenovo needs to fix that ASAP so people can actually experience how good a device this is cause i was on the fence about returning it. Now I'm definitely keeping it.
I had games that ran only 800p on medium to low settings... Now i can run them in 1600 and sometimes on the highest settings.
Sf6 i have running 1080 with everything set on highest.
Theres a CZcamsr who did a day on setup guide. Watch that and also theres a video showing how to get and update your Go to play starfield.
True
no proof of it so whatever, no one has any proof on this running on steam deck OLED even
Love your channel ❤
The game isn’t very well optimized yet. Also did you change the vram to 4GB?
hadn't yet but i did after i filmed this
@@sam.alexander.reviews any noticeable difference?
Having watched this, I have no doubts going for new Steam Deck OLED
Yeah mine crashed playing smite a few times which confused me. How could something right out the box crash playing a game from over ten years ago?
Edit: Smite is kinda garbo and does have issues staying stable when you change audio settings so it's probably more smites prob then me.
They just came out with a update for legion go and you get better proformance, so maybe you should try that and make another video on the legion go and don't just give up on it
Balance tdp for auto and OS set to efficiency will run just fine
nowadays it's more about the drivers and optimizations than the hardware power itself
I have Starfield on Legion Go. It ran good to me. It's probably your settings.
which ones? i've been troubleshooting but cant figure it out
@@sam.alexander.reviews I got a video coming today. I will let you know.
when it gets fsr 3 with frame generation it would be interesting to see
Starfield is unplayable for me it crashes everytime I load it up on the Legion go 😭
I have the vram 6 beta bios. Runs way better now
This is why it's best to wait a few months. It's essentially in a beta stage.
If you can get past the fomo, you can get a better experience and likely at a cheaper price. And if the product turns out to be a dud in the ways you care about, at least you're not stuck with it or the hassle of getting a refund.
agreed
yeah good point!
Play games on Win is painful. I also has freeze and crash on playing elden ring even in my 4090 PC.
SF should be playable on z1 extreme, I can play that on rog ally at 900p
780m driver 6gb vram. Ran smooth to me
Nice, waiting for official drivers for the 6gb change and I think I need to de-bloat win 11 (win11 is at 6.8GB ram used before anything is launched for me)
So after everyones positive and... not so positive comments xD, have you figured out what needed fixing or updating etc to have it run better?
not yet, but i'm working on it
me to returned mine so many crashes on NMS , i put the money towards steam deck oled
i havent had any issues at all and my game is installed on a micro sd card LOL
He's just got the lenovo drivers rather than the AMD radeon 780m driver.
I was getting shit 30fps to 45 fps on lenovo drivers swapped them over for AMD radeon 780m and I'm getting at least 45fps but at 1080p
Not 800p that I had on the lenovo drivers
Videos like these actually make me lean more towards Lenovo, lots of comments are basically saying “it’s in beta/defective drivers”
Lotta other companies don’t like customer service like ayaneo, gdp, and ayn apparently have lots of trouble returning and exchanging defective products
While Lenovo is sold thru Best Buy, retailers are obligated to help you out as long as you’re within return policy
Thanks for video, I'll pick up Steam Deck OLED. Fort the same price I'll have 2x more space on SSD and much more battery life.
7840u driver will fix that low fps dude
this is why i wouldn't bother with this on even the steam deck OLED, the lag is real estate, i'm disappointed tbh
Inistall steam os. I believe it would help with performance
Mine plays fine lol 😅 and I don’t no nothing about pc but I updated bios and drivers and it runs better then expected lol
And there you go guys, the prime example to why you always should update your drivers. 😅
Why does my comment keep getting deleted? I suggested checking out a particular youtuber who upgraded his amd drivers and used a day 1 guide plus installation guide. Your settings aren’t set properly. I’m going to screenshot my comment because something is screwy here lol.
Wow this plays way worse then my steam deck!
Lenovo will being updating and it will start playing games much better
Sounds like a personal issue.
Lenovo shill
i'm trying to fix it but dont know how, ideas?
@@sam.alexander.reviewslooks like you need driver updates. Only way to do that is to go to your product’s main page and find the APU driver updates and update them. Checking this should be your very first step.
@@sam.alexander.reviews I don't know it just seems like it's a unit-specific problem you are having.
Bro that's skill issue, not Legion go's problem
I had no problems with it, your console is defective
Why do I see so many Lenovo shill comments saying hardware is defective? Try harder to fix the software rather than doing random damage control on a subpar product
it may be defective, but its worked fine in 20+ other games i've tested. we can have different experiences
@@sam.alexander.reviews probably, I'll give it a go again.
I just posted a video on my page showing the game running on the Go with ULTRA settings running at 2560x1600. I also posted links to setup guide and how to get the driver update in the video description.
Hopefully this helps anyone who needs it!
Damn at this point youre better off playing this game on xbox or the cloud. 😂
I don't listen to most of these dudes at all. They're stuck on the steam deck. Also they have subjective memory because the steam deck and ally was rough at lunch and needed updates. This is no different. But on this one has to come out with no issues. But my games aren't crashing at all.
Thanks you help me iam to close i buy lenovo now no
its a pc, its obvious you are not a pc user. Device manager, amd 780m properties, update, let me choose , select have disk, select extracted amd offical driver , select 780m install. uninstall n reinstall amd software from windows store. done. also a 780m runs on medium mixed with high not low with fsr2 at 63 @1280x800 30fps
Who the f actually updates drivers via device manager ? Either way this is something Lenovo should have done from launch
@@PIFFthePUFF420 there is an obvious reason why it needs to be done that way on devices amd doesn't support directly look it up
i am a PC user, i've built my own PC, i use one daily. no need to say stuff like that homie
thanks for the advice.
then I am wrong I apologize@@sam.alexander.reviews
This review is BS, your legion go must be defective… I’ve been running starfield for two weeks and maybe one crash.
it may be defective, but its ran 20+ other games i've tested totally fine.
it doesn't make the review "bs". this is my experience, you've had a different experience and thats great, but i can only make a video on mine. nuance homie
Every single comment defending Lenovo says "your hardware must be defective". Uhm NO! Even if it was, who's fault is it? Lenovo's. This is a terrible product and even if they fix the software, joystick deadzones and the multiple other issues, you'd be left with an oversized, underpowered piece of doo doo with a recycled y700 monitor.
@@sam.alexander.reviewsthe Lenovo shills are here doing damage control for their sh**y product. All they have is the "faulty hardware" card. Who's fault is that if hw is faulty? Still Lenovo's.
@@PIFFthePUFF420you can't even afford shoelaces stfu😊
I’ve been running Starfield fine on my Go.
Nice video 👍. This game is sooo hyped, it's actually crap and people should stop give it so much attention.
Yeahh its pretty hyped, i still wanted to try it out though :/
"I don't like that other people have different opinions than me"
I mean didn’t even get a nominee 😂👌 said this from day one still don’t know why people even say it’s good. I had the legion for 1 day I was trying to run a game called coral island 800p all drivers up to date it wasn’t even holding a stable frame rate I was sold a lie 😂 so I sold it and deck is on its way
@@mechanicalmonk2020 are you done?
@POPGMG You aren’t really gonna get a stable frame rate on the steam deck though, I have one I can’t even hit 45fps in Disney speedstorm in a lot of maps. You get frequent framedropts to like 33-36fps.
Personally these devices are pretty much beta products. They will probably be better by the third generation or something.
🧢
As you should be its probably the most disappointing game release in over 15 years thanks again Bethesda..
Lenovo legion go sell 😂
You are doing it wrong.
:(
Change Vram in the bios to 6g
