    A piece of wire is missing at where the pole was lost.... if you look harder. The driver must alert the overhead crew to come fix it, else all trolley coaches behind are gonna dewire here too.

      Jere Cullen the insulater was missing, it fell off and was on the road. The supervisor came shortly after this trolley passed and started pulling poles and have trolleys EPU through the intersection.

      Yep that's right! I had 2283 on the 41 today and I dewired at Dunbar st WB. The left turn power switch was set in the wrong direction. I stopped in the middle of the intersection and got out to look at my poles to ensure they are down and not stuck with the wires before moving the bus out of the intersection as per proper procedure.

    SF muni should've gotten trolley busses likes those from New flyer, instead of the ones we have now.

      Pantos are probably better for keeping up in a straight line, single lane. Trolley polls like this allow the vehicle to move between the two lanes so they can negotiate curbing, overtaking in the passing lane, etc.

      @@davidl6558 I guess, I'm just being unrealistic. What you said is obviously right. I'm just of an opinion, that things should be streamlined. Rubber tire or rail, not withstanding. Having dedicated lanes or lines for Trolley's would make the system more reliable

      @@canundrumsixnine6830 I very much agree. More roadway space should be dedicated as bus/tram/trolley only spaces and still more for foot and bike traffic. Short of that, we have mixed traffic

      @@davidl6558 I have to admit, I am impressed with how Los Angeles is bringing back their Rail Service, both Subway, and Light Rail. As well as creating dedicated Busways. THey are moving to Hybrid Buses. Not all electric "Yet" but they will get there.
      The fact that the trains/rams/buses also no have dedicated bike storage on board is a plus as well.

    All those wires above the streets just don't look safe at all.

    • @eterntsin6415
      @eterntsin6415 Před 2 lety +19

      Actually, they are safe enough. If the wires were torn apart by a truck, the power would be shut down in no time and no one would get hurt.

      @ricktownend9144 Před 2 lety +7

      Are there statistics anywhere of problems with trolleybus wires? The only time I ever saw a trolleybus dewired was back in 1982 in Athens, and the conductor just got out, replaced the pole on the wire and they were off again. I've never seen any problems here in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.
      Has anyone designed a 'self-wiring' pole? - I can't see that would be impossible these days with so much robotics everywhere - "Alexa - rewire my trolley-poles".... It would come in very handy for routes which are part trolley, part battery - rewiring on the move.

    • @ricktownend9144
      @ricktownend9144 Před 2 lety +5

      Actually the self-wiring system does seem to exist! I just saw your video 'Seattle XT40 King County Metro Transit' - thanks for that!
