- At, 0:49. Car was sticking out from the driveway on the approaching trolley bus, for the trolleybus not to automatically connect to the catenary using pans.
Caution: video was apparently shot by a drunk cameraman during an earthquake.
Nobody cares about your jokes. So, stop.
FYI: The overhead for SFO's trackless trolleys is not catenary, it's direct-suspended. The only place I've seen catenary for trackless trolleys is Russia (the good 'ol CCCP).
Enjoyed watching these trolley bus videos, played over and over again.
Lol😅👍
Why does it have to be in the middle of the road?
My city uses similar system to hook up the poles on the wire, but they're usually set up on the stations, where the trolleybus can stop without blocking the traffic and "hookup" while taking passengers.
Well that San Francisco Muni for you. The city that knows how 🤣
Omg soo much traffic was blocked right?
American Transit System always is bit stranger 😅
@@aiz3n229Because of the traffic it isn't safe for the driver to go out and put it on manually, if the automatic system fails...
Enjoyed watching the big San Francisco trolley bus.
Very nice equipment
Very high-tech troleybus

Cool
nice and unique bus i haven't ride this bus.
These buses are new. And are rated for 15 years, but will probably live beyond their expiration date. The 40-foot trolley-buses will have the steepest highs to climb, and the most strain, so I'm not expecting them to have a longer lifespan. Trolley buses usually last 20-25 years versus 15-20 years for diesels. Because they are more rare than diesels, trolley buses cost more but last longer. There are also fewer makers of trolley buses (although they are just buses with electric propulsion rather than diesel).
in my country operating a diesel bus is 95 or 90 rubels while trolleybus is just 15 rubels trolleybus in my country has been since 1950s or 1960s
So is it gas and electric ? I dont get it.
Ohh great equipment so interesting video, new friend here watching, and gived support stay connected brother thanks.
Great machinery, keep safe!
Wow
I haven't ride on it. Hopefully in the future.
well, that's interesting
drive safe
Driver doesn’t seem to optimistic. A simple re-lowering and then raising the pole again could’ve easily got it connected.
If it's off the wire, how does it drive away? Stored power? Anyway, what a contraption. Have no idea why SF still has trolley buses. Maybe because it's SF.
SF has trolleybuses so they can have "Cero emissions goal by 2035 or 2040"
Plus trolleybuses can easily climb steep hills of SF better then gas buses.
Also yes the trolleybus has a small 20 minute battery if its discharged
@@m0istl0la97 the bus has a battery up to 3 or 8 miles
Where is this
A little past Boston Market on 16th Street inbound direction.
amazing bus i think here in japan also have like this#itshe chelle
Yes, in Japan it's called the, Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus in Tateyama, Toyama,
Permisi selamat malam semangat bos
What happened on this bus i see there's something bothering on electrical problem? Gosh safe keep.
It needs to recharge batteries. They do this all the time 😂
@@jamesrobinson8768 ohh really i didn't see here at Philippines like that maybe the train not sure. Hehehe..
@@meltimbal parts of the Philippines as well as other countries is behind in technology. That's why you don't see this there.
Hello host
high-tech trolleybus
What is this comment section and why was this in my recommended lmao
These buses are new fleet and able to lower and raise poles
I bet your one of the engineers there 🤗
Why they are doing this automatically
This method makes it convenient for the bus driver not to go out manually to reconnect to the overhead wires.
we dont have that kind of bus here in Germany
This website has Germany 🚎
www.jtbell.net/transit/Solingen/
Oh sounds like a bit dangerous to me
San Francisco trolley bus automatically connects to catenary using pans successfully
what happen there
🚎 bus couldn't recharge its batteries 🔋🔋
Could of designed the position of the wires or road markings a bit better to not just stop randomly in the middle of the street.
I totally agree with you. San Francisco Muni has been using this kind of technology for the past 2 years. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Management could have and still can do it better.
Oooops it failed to connect to the catenary
pole fail
Omg why fails to take away the thing?
It couldn't power to the electricity to recharge batterys
Isn't San Francisco the place where homeless people are crapping all over the streets in the tourist areas? Driving away the tourists?
Isn't that dangerous as all hell because both circuits aren't properly grounded through the split system? My understanding was they needed both because they don't have a metal track grounding them like a train that can operate on a monowire system.
Wow
