Absolutely agreed! That's honestly the most exciting new release this year, as crazy as that sounds given the extremely subdued style that it has: black dial, steel, time and date, that's it. But it does *what* it does just so well. I really hope they expand the line to include white, blue, green, red, etc. lacquer dials.
The deepsea just looks half assed. Why use a titanium helium escape valve on a solid gold watch... couldve been a great oppertunity to market a new gold alloy...

For me the greatest release of 2024 so far is a humble G-Shock (the 7100MNG Manga) but the key event of the year is the end of crazy speculation on the usual suspects. I’ve been able to purchase a Royal Oak for half what it traded for 18 months ago :).
Loved these choices. Under the affordable banner, would love to know your thoughts on the new Christopher Ward Super Compressor Elite. To me, the colour scheme is just sensational.
Like all materials used to make watch cases, there are different brands and different models within brands doing different metallurgy and production finishing even with the same general material. So if we accept that premise and nothing else you could not scientifically accurately make the statement “titanium watches scratch less easily than steel watches.” Because quite often it would be so apples to oranges. For example I will take one of the Sinn steel from submarine hulls watches against ANY titanium watch in the scratch competition. But as I say, that gets into apples and oranges. But on the whole if we insist on making the scratch comparison across the entire range of titanium watch cases versus stainless watch cases I would suggest that on the scratch front that the titanium team would lose.
best most interesting GMT master II Rolex ever made was/is the Rootbear hands down. they banged it out of the park with this unique colored bezel. red/blk meh, blk/green double meh, blue/blk ok I wouldn't say no, but Rootbear is still more cool and different.

Depends. A 150g titanium watch is heavier than a 90g gold watch. The former is too heavy for me any time of year, the latter isn't.
It's like having a full beard or wearing socks during summer. Not a dealbreaker, but not ideal either.
A gold Rolex is about 300 grams, very heavy, takes time to get used to
I give the Tonda PF line from Parmigiani the 'watches of the year' award. Simple dial, chrono, annual calendar... superb all the way around
