You failed to mention that the Balor will only fail the saving throw on a 1 or 2 because it has a +9 to wisdom and pixies have a spell save DC of 12

Its chance of passing all 8 saves with advantage, failing on a 1 or 2 is about 92.3% lmao
On the other hand, you can always boost your chances with things like Bestow Curse, Bane, Heightened Spell (metamagic ya hoo), Mind Sliver, Silvery Barbs, and Vicious Mockery. It seems like overkill but once you use the effects that only affect one save to get Bestow Curse and Bane off, then it has no advantage and -1d4 to each check, which averages out at about a 16.8% chance of succeeding on all of its saves

Not to mention that Banishment does not work to send Demons to hell. Demons are in the abyss, Devils are in hell And you cannot permanently banish Demons to hell.

You need one of those tuning forks attuned to The Nine Hells to cast Plane Shift, these are not meant to be easy to get. Also you don't get to choose what you summon. This does work but it is a really specific situation that's hard to recreate.
Why wouldn’t you get to choose what you summon? The spell says Choose from one of the following options. And the option my players chose was 8 Fey creatures of CR1/4. It says Choose… 8 fey creatures of CR1/4. It doesn’t say “choose a challenge rating and your DM will choose what appears from the chosen CR”

Here's the official ruling, per Sage Advice and Jeremy Crawford "The design intent for options like these is that the spellcaster chooses one of them, and then the DM decides what creatures appear that fit the chosen option."

You also failed to realize pixies can't use Plane Shift and the druid cannot cast it in the same round because they've just casted Conjure Woodland Beings.
So forget about not having the tuning fork, you can't do this in a single round.
You're theory is dependent on already having cast Conjure Woodland Creatures prior to a combat, which is not always going to happen because only you, the druid, can cast Plane Shift. And you may as well just plane shift away the Balor in the first place.
This isn't even considering the fact that you don't get to choose which fey is summoned by the spell.

There’s this one guy in my group who killed one with a level 10 character. I’m not sure what the multiclass combination was, but the balor had max hp, and the player only survived the explosion because of some lucky death saves.
There is a lot of builds that can do this. Wizards, Monks, Barbarians, and Paladins all have builds off the top of my head that can beat them before level 10.
Here's how without any dm fiat exploits...
Be lvl 7 divination wizard, keep your nat1 portent roll. Cast banishment and use your portent on it.
Provided you're not in abyss, the demon's getting it's ass sent back to it's home plane. Now just don't drop concentration.
If you don't want to relly on having that nat1 banked up... lvl 14 chronurgy wizard lets you say "yea you failed that save" after the advantage, at the cost of 1 level of exhaustion.
I may be mistaken, but don't Divination wizards have to roll a new portent every day? Making a big ask to assume that out of 2 rolls, one of them is low enough to make a Balor fail a save on any given day.
@@Gardolind Balor has +12 to charisma save, your dc at the level you're going to be fighting them should be around.. 18, anything 5 or lower saves.
But using lvl 7 divination wizard your dc would be 16 or so(higher if you have one of the tashas books)
Even granting that you choose what to summon (which you probably don't), you might as well say:
"How to beat Balor as a Level 1 character!
Step 1: Have a longbow, and stay at least 10 feet away from the Balor at all times
Step 2: Have a Balor keep rolling 1s to hit you from 10 feet, and you have yourself keep rolling critical hits
The Balor will be dead in a couple minutes! gg wp"
P.S. Conjure Woodland Beings + Plane Shift is 2 rounds, learn to count
For everyone saying this is two rounds.. make it a level 15 char then, druid 13-fighter 2 multiclass. Action surge and Ready a Plane Shift for when he’s transformed :)
This is all very situational and still only leaves a 10% chance. Also nothing saying that one of the most powerful demons is not going to just exit the nine levels of hell

Bro, just play a level 7 divination wizard with at least an 18 in INT, roll an 8 or lower on your portants, and just force them to fail the saving throw on a Banishment spell.

Plane shift says yourself and other creatures. You just teleported yourself to demons alone.
You can use it offensively to teleport other creatures without teleporting yourself
First you have to hope your dm lets you conjure the pixies. Which he chooses, the. You have to hope he fails a DC 12 wisdom saving throw when he has a +9 to wisdom saves. Meaning he only fails on a nat 1 or a 2. Then you gotta add the fact he has resistance to spells so every save is done at advantage. So you have to hope he critically fails on one roll twice.
Yea this doesn’t seem as doable as you think it is. You have a better chance at doing this by being a higher level castes with a higher DC than a pixie. With a DC 17 it’s more likely to fail even with advanced. At least then he has to roll 7 or less to fail instead of a 1 or 2.
RAW conjure woodland beings doesn't let you choose what creatures are summoned only the cr rating they appear in, therefore a dm can choose to give you 8 sprites instead of pixies making your exploit void
This is actually based off a true story. Something my players did to my Balor lol.
The spell states: "CHOOSE one of the following options for WHAT appears: ... 8 Fey creatures of challenge rating 1/4". It doesn't say that players are not allowed to choose what appears. It doesn't say the DM is the one who chooses either. If I told them that I will choose what appears, I feel like that'd be me hijacking their spell. In any case, it depends on the DM
the wording is spesificly "Choose one of the following options for what appears" not "choose creatures from one of the following options". sage advice goes into more detail on this
@@DwainiacWarhammer you get to choose the number of creatures based on the CR, not the specific creatures. Your DM might allow you to pick the creatures, but RAW that's not how the spell work.
Sage advice is not any kind of official ruling and Jeremy Crawford himself has said this. Nothing about the spell states the dm chooses what is summoned.

You cannot cast conjure woodland beings and plane shift in the same turn/round without action surging either.
Considering the Balor would be transformed into whatever animal, it's not a demon anymore, so those things that hate demons would just be like we're meh lets leave it alone.
For an hour... Or just have the Pixies drop concentration the instant it disappears because you can drop concentration at any time.
Better to send him to the abyss so he won't come back.

You are MUCH better off just having the druid cast polymorph instead of the pixies. At level 13 with +5 wis and +5 prof, thats a dc 18. Level 13 is when you are supposed to get very rares, so lets say a +3 focus as well for a DC 21 save. Only a 69.75% chance of Balor passing, compared to 92% with this ‘strategy’. Even without the item, a +9 with adv only beats DC18 84% of the time.
So casting these pixies, even if every pixie goes before the balor, is still at least 8% worse than just the druid trying to polymorph, then plane shifting.
(Oh, and have the Druid take 2 levels in fighter to action surge if you ACTUALLY want it to be in one turn. That way, even if the balor passes the first poly, the druid can cast another. And yes, with two total castings, the balor only has a 48.6% chance of passing them both. So it has a >50% chance of working- I would consider that a necessity to any CZcams short plan or combo).

Except don’t fiends resurrect if they’re not in their homeland? The fields of blood line the border between the nine hells and the abyss since there both sides can lose soldiers, but if a demon is fully in the nine hells they just get sent back to the abyss and get a new body.

Reason why it's a bad idea and this advice is terrible.
1) Balore has +9 to wis saves and magic resistance while pixie spell DC is 12, making so only 1 and 2 fail.
2) You don't get to choose what creatures you conjure, same as cow bombs you only choose CR, DM decides the creature.
3) Nine Hells are not the Abyss, demon still lives and will hunt you down, knowing a bit more and preparing in advance.
Ps: If your DM is kind enough to let you choose the creature, why would you abuse it.
Conjure woodland creatures is up for debate. Considering your DM can decide what you summon.
Plus their is two other big problems.
1) the monster has a +9 to for the spell save dc and the summon only has a spell dc of 12(meaning the monster needs to roll a 1 or a 2 to be pollymorphed
2) the monster has advantage on spell saves. So it needs to roll two 1 or a 2 at advantage

One single counterspell and this whole tactic is toast.
It also takes more than one round to do this combo since it's one action to summon woodland beings and another action to planeshift
There are two problems with this, one of which makes the last part impossible. The first is that the Balor needs to roll a 3 or higher and has advantage on every check. If you're lucky enough to defy the odds and turn him into a frog anyway, you can't choose which plane you send him to. You either send him back to the Abyss because it's a demon, or if you make the argument that "TeChNiCaLlY iT's A fRoG nOw So It ShOuLdN't Go To ThE aBySs", in that case he's going to a harmless demiplane where it's incapacitated until concentration ends. You have no choice.
I'd say to stop making videos like this with key details left out of tactics like this, but at the same time I guess I'm the sucker here because I watched this twice over, did my research, and spent the time to write this comment so... whatever.
You're confusing Plane Shift and Banishment. Plane Shift lets you choose the Plane you send to, as long as you have a forked metal rod worth at least 250 gp attuned to the particular plane you want to send to... and it isn't a Concentration spell. It's "you failed the save so you're in this plane now, have fun imma go take a nap"

The probability of a balor failing one Wisdom saving throw against eight pixie’s spell dc is .02 😔
It’s a cool idea, but you’re probably better off fighting a balor as a team instead of on your own, as that’s how the game intended.
That's...just not at all how any of that works. RAW DM gets to choose what's summoned, also, the pixie has a DC of, like 12? Balor has advantage against magic and a +9.

He's not using banishment, he's using plane shift. If he was, he'd chose to send it back to it's home plane of the abyss so the effect is permanent.
An experienced DM probably won't let people summon 8 pixies due to the whole flying T-Rex meta 🤣
One good way to counter that "meta" as a DM is to simply state "Why would pixies know what Trexes are?" And if your PC's have never seen Trexes or any dinosaur for that matter, you can use that for them as well. I actually have the rule at my table that outside of special circumstances, changing yourself or another into an ancient creature such as a dinosaur is prohibited, as the knowledge of these creatures is limited as well.

im much more preferential to putting the polymorphed victim inside a 1 foot by 1 foot by one foot adamantine cage and waiting for the polymorph to run out. wasnt adamantine when i did it the first time, but i aerosolized a werewolf and the trick stuck with me ever since
Thats why in my world pixies are cr 2 creatures. I let them choose what they want, but if they want pixies, can only have one of them.

Not to mention, this works on any creature. Send any nonwaterbreathing creature to the plane of water, send any waterbreathing creature to the plane of fire. Any undead that breath neither, send em to the celestials.

The banishment spell specifies that if the target it native to the current plane, then it goes to a harmless demiplane for some amount of time.
Cast dispel magic on a portal they halfway stepping through.
Them being cut in half, half in hell half in world... they get half perma killed.

I'd say that any mass spell or identical spells should warrant 1 save. It makes no sense to save against the same effect more than once.
