Seems to me that we should all start learning the Amish way of life. They don't worry about anything and they're prepared for everything. The old ways are the best ways. They don't have electricity, they use lanterns, they don't have cars, they use horse and buggy, there is a lot to consider when seeking independence from government control. Only the brave and determined ones and God's help will be able to do it but the Amish thrive and prosper even in today's world.

I live in one of these states and love it. We are almost totally off grid. Land and small holdings might be expensive but we have fantastic soil for growing food. We don’t t have to water gardens because we get plenty of rain. There are plenty of hunting spots for deer and lakes and ponds to fish. The snow adds vital nutrients to the land. We grass feed our livestock most of the year unlike many states that feed cattle on scrub brush. We can grow almost all our own produce except citrus. You won’t find too many small holdings anymore because no one wants to sell their piece of paradise.

If the grid goes down entirely, then who cares what the local government "allows" you to do? In a full grid down scenario, the government will be effectively non-existent. The military and police are just as dependent on the electrical grid as everyone else. So once the power goes out, they'll simply disperse to go take care of their own families. After that, what power would the government have to enforce any regulations?

So much bogus information! A set of "rules" is not equally applied to each state. He is stating rules and regulations that only apply to cities, not rural areas.

Florida really bad with no AC, dam it gets hot. Solar power can sort the problem but without that you’re going to shrivel up.
