    Nice One! Prefer a white/grey background in your tutorials, because it increases the visibility in your tutorials, but that's just my opinion. For the lesson learned: A+

    Really cool! Btw, instead of using number, how can I edit to make it shown D1, D2 etc.. instead of 1, 2. Thanks

    Thanks for the tutorial, it was super helpful! I'm helping my firm switch over from AutoCAD to Revit and I was wondering if you know how to make the keynote numbers in Revit match the numbers in the txt? (Our builder has numbers they're used to seeing always for the same keynote)

      my apologies for late reply, yes you will uncheck "filter by sheet" when creating the keynote legend, this will set your keynote to a designated number throughout the whole project and not restart every sheet. You can customize how the actual number apears ( 1, 01 or 001) within the keynote family itself. Feel free to email me thegururevitryan@gmail.com with further questions.

    wait but how do you create keynotes in cad 2019? Is it different than Revit 2020?? are they the same as sheet notes? I’m in the properties where do I go now? Is it in the graphics display options? Why does your CAD look different than mine

  • @michellelee205

    I used a combo of letters and numbers for my key values (ie. STN-1). When I place a keynote, Revit creates it's own numbering (1, 2, 3..) rather than using the key value in my table. There's some setting I'm missing. Can you help?

    Ryan, Do you have any solution for when I place a keynote it does not show up in the main Legend or on the Legend on the sheet. Is there some sort of special setting I have turned on or off. I am hoping someone can help

  • @curmoore

    Is there a way to have sheet specific keynotes? For example, my note #1 on my site plan will be different than my note #1 on my floor plan. I don't want to have to start on note #5 for my floor plan if I've used notes 1-4 for notes that only apply to my site plan

      Be sure to check the check "by sheet" in the keynote settings and on the keynote legend settings as well "filter by sheet" needs to be selected 2:40 and 3:56 is where keynote settings for both are in the video lmk if this helps sorry for late reply

    Good stuff, but is not working for me if I need more than one Key Note. In my case, I want a keynote for elevations, restrooms fixtures, and the Site Plan....i created 3 different note pads files and keynote legends, but when I browse the note pad file needed this overrides all schedules. any help for crying out loud!

    • @revitryan2008
      @revitryan2008  Před 3 lety +1

      you need to use the same note pad file for all the notes, you cannot link in 3 different txt files, there is a more in depth way of organizing your txt file so that when you insert keynotes it can be organized by discipline, or whatever you choose it to be. feel free to email me and if you would like i can give you and more in depth look or maybe i can get on a video call to help you out. emails in description abve.

      Yes I found out about that after some research. Right now swamped with a deadline before the holidays, so I decided to keep the notepad for the Site plan which has about 32 notes. So for the bathroom accessories I assigned a key number 1 through 19 for each item and created a simple Legend. So I can keynote each plumbing fixture and restroom accessories, just got lucky that I don't have more than 32 items otherwise they will show up on the Site plan Key Note.
      Thank you so much for your response I fully appreciate it.

    I don't understand the purpose of having to use notepad. Shouldn't text editor capability be integrated into the Revit interface? Seems completely unnecessary and although it does look fairly easy to attach this extra file, it is inefficient. If Revit does not have a more sophisticated approach to text editing, I'd be really surprised they overlooked that. Anybody have thoughts on this?

    • @revitryan2008

      You are able to you excel spread sheets as well i believe but i am not familiar with this method. There is a method to orginize keynotes cleanly in revit based off the txt. file but it is a bit extensive tutorial. Please feel free to email me with any further questions thegururevitryan@gmail.com
