    So basically one still has to create a Mock Project, where all the drafting views reside, call the project a suitable name and save it somewhere accessible from where you can drag drafting views for use into new projects.

    Hey Ryan, that was a great FCU detail you had shown there. Just out of curiosity, can we use any out of the box Systems tools like Ducts, Diffusers, etc. for our details. In an attempt to show a Flex duct connection detail, I wasn't able to place the Flex Duct in a Drafting View and was wondering if there's a work around? Thank you so much man, Love your content.

    • @revitryan2008
      @revitryan2008 Před 3 lety

      Yes the best work around, although a bit of a pain, anything in Revit can be exported to CAD, including but not limited to, 3D and section views. I would take a good section shot or 3D view of my flex duct, then export it to CAD. I would then clean up the view a bit in CAD, then re insert into a Drafting view in Revit, add anytext you need to the drafting view, and you have now created an editable detail based off your real model. Let me know if this helps Kushal

    • @revitryan2008
      @revitryan2008 Před 3 lety

      what type of special equipment are you using? usually when placing certain families that will not place where you want them to, you simply need to click "place on face" or "place on work plane" in the ribbon when you are placing your family. If your having trouble rotating or moving families often you must click on the family and before moving or rotating check or uncheck "constrain" "disjoin", hopefully this helps a bit

    I used a combo of letters and numbers for my key values (ie. STN-1). When I place a keynote, Revit creates it's own numbering (1, 2, 3..) rather than using the key value in my table. There's some setting I'm missing. Can you help?

    Good stuff, but is not working for me if I need more than one Key Note. In my case, I want a keynote for elevations, restrooms fixtures, and the Site Plan....i created 3 different note pads files and keynote legends, but when I browse the note pad file needed this overrides all schedules. any help for crying out loud!

    • @revitryan2008
      @revitryan2008 Před 3 lety

      you need to use the same note pad file for all the notes, you cannot link in 3 different txt files, there is a more in depth way of organizing your txt file so that when you insert keynotes it can be organized by discipline, or whatever you choose it to be. feel free to email me and if you would like i can give you and more in depth look or maybe i can get on a video call to help you out. emails in description abve.

    • @EdgarTheEagle
      @EdgarTheEagle Před 3 lety

      @@revitryan2008 Yes I found out about that after some research. Right now swamped with a deadline before the holidays, so I decided to keep the notepad for the Site plan which has about 32 notes. So for the bathroom accessories I assigned a key number 1 through 19 for each item and created a simple Legend. So I can keynote each plumbing fixture and restroom accessories, just got lucky that I don't have more than 32 items otherwise they will show up on the Site plan Key Note. Thank you so much for your response I fully appreciate it.

  • @curmoore
    @curmoore Před 3 lety

    Is there a way to have sheet specific keynotes? For example, my note #1 on my site plan will be different than my note #1 on my floor plan. I don't want to have to start on note #5 for my floor plan if I've used notes 1-4 for notes that only apply to my site plan

    • @revitryan2008

      Be sure to check the check "by sheet" in the keynote settings and on the keynote legend settings as well "filter by sheet" needs to be selected 2:40 and 3:56 is where keynote settings for both are in the video lmk if this helps sorry for late reply

    Thanks for the tutorial, it was super helpful! I'm helping my firm switch over from AutoCAD to Revit and I was wondering if you know how to make the keynote numbers in Revit match the numbers in the txt? (Our builder has numbers they're used to seeing always for the same keynote)

    • @revitryan2008
      @revitryan2008 Před 3 lety

      my apologies for late reply, yes you will uncheck "filter by sheet" when creating the keynote legend, this will set your keynote to a designated number throughout the whole project and not restart every sheet. You can customize how the actual number apears ( 1, 01 or 001) within the keynote family itself. Feel free to email me thegururevitryan@gmail.com with further questions.

    I don't understand the purpose of having to use notepad. Shouldn't text editor capability be integrated into the Revit interface? Seems completely unnecessary and although it does look fairly easy to attach this extra file, it is inefficient. If Revit does not have a more sophisticated approach to text editing, I'd be really surprised they overlooked that. Anybody have thoughts on this?
