  • Degenerative disc disease is awful. It hurts, it’s scary and it’s a problem. I’d love to share what causes it and what we can do about it!

I had a L5-S1 rupture. It pinched the root nerve that goes down my left leg and I couldn’t even straighten my body out for a month. I crawled all over my house and could barely use the toilet. This is so interesting!!

Same with me! Very difficult to find a position to sleep in. If you do, after awhile you get a hot spot and want to turn your body to a different position. Then comes that long sharp knife…stabbing you in the back. Extreme pain. Then you start all over trying to find a position of comfort ….but never get a good night sleep.

Omgsh yes. I cannot lay on my stomach anymore. I really only sleep in 2 hr intervals. Then I have to re adjust. The hardest I sleep is after my husband gets up for work. Then I can roll over in one direction instead of twisting and sliding underneath myself. Once in a while my mom will give me one of her meloxicam pills. It’s for arthritis but it’s not an opioid. I’m not opposed to taking pain meds, I just don’t want to be on them long term. My doc gave me a low dose tizanadine and that seems to help some of the nerve pain. Good luck in your future, hope you feel better soon.

You're not totally fine if you push really hard on the L1-L5. I wasn't able to stand up without pain for the past 6 years and that's where all my herniated discs are, the ones that can totally calcify. I just had 2 decompressions at L1-2 and 1 decompression at L4-5. I also had a fusion at L1-2. I can attest that I'm now paralyzed from the waist down after the 4 surgeries I had, even though they were supposed to allow me to walk without pain.

My Cervical MRI says C4-5 disc bulge w/ right foraminal protrusion and disc osteophyte complex formation indents the thecal sac. And results in mild spinal canal, mild left and moderate to severe right neural foraminal narrowing. If you break that down it says “indents the thecal sac” and my pain management nurse practitioner keeps saying it is not saying that. Of course, there are other issues but this thecal sac thing isn’t as talked about on the net so difficult to find info

Wow you're talking about me yes 1 and 2 is where my back problem starting with the accident that I had, another decision of life or death. I picked the possible death instead of taking someone's life. It was a holy sacrifice of my self in that quick split decision knowing I could not hurt another to save myself. It happened on Savage road that ran parallel to route 80. A trucker minding his own business driving his own truck saw the accident and he ran across the medium to get me out of the car. I really had no memory for a long time years. When the memory started to br seen all's I remember for a long time was beautiful sunlight blue sky and puffy Columbus clouds. Kind of like what I envisioned saw as a child in the backseat of my Nana's cab while still in a basket. Sunlight blue puffy Columbus clouds. So I guess what I'm saying is yes you get little segments of different vision that you might have experienced at the beginning. 😇🙏 Who the trucker was I never knew but I can only right now can say I hope that his soul has been blessed 🙏 😇 for eternity. Thank you sweet Jesus 😊 for my forgiveness and the ultimate salvation ❤️ you have given me through my trials and tribulations.

@@DonnallySpineConsult what a wonderful thought actually the VA was supposed to do a back operation back in 2008 but they changed their mind for some reason. Sometimes things happen for the best. I know that somehow my discs fused I don't know if it was from the liver operation and the extensive use of the of the surgical Bouvier at the time they were removing lap pad and clamps that were forgotten from the actual liver transplant. Sometimes I think it gives me more problem but knock on wood the last month has been better because I've learned how to take pressure off of the sciatic nerve. My particular case it happens in both cheeks and both legs put a lifetime of you-know-what you learn you had to sleep on the floor how to hang from pull-up bar. I think the one vertebrae is probably pretty much deformed probably number number one which is deformed. I know I shrunk 🤣. No pain no game sailor 😭. It actually started when I was seven and tried to tame a donkey who was chained with a very very thick chain. I did what everyone always tells me not to do and anyway I thought I could tame on my got to where he was chained and yeah let me tell you it wasn't a happy camper! So I turned to run I tripped almost where the end of his chain would have been. Face first turned over real quick and then reuse he's up in the air in The stomping position he came down and stomped on my chest. So at the age of 14 a spot was detected in the school X-ray and turned out to be a cracked rib with a deposit. So of course they removed it setting me up with a nylon rib. Knock on wood there hasn't been a problem. Will Dr. God is great 👍 Has always let me carry on. I'm not sure what my immediate future is going to be. And there's other things that are wrong even though doctors of always been amazed that I've healed through whatever. Bless your heart and your family my friend. Thank you for your loving gesture and your empathy. Let's work on the crippled that's where the repair is really needed the children that possibly can live a lifetime of wellbeing. 🙏😇👍🙌🌅🧬
