The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the 37th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 9 May 1992 at the Malmö Isstadion in Malmö, Sweden. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), and presented by Lydia Capolicchio and Harald Treutiger, the contest was held in Sweden following the country's victory at the 1991 contest with the song "Fångad av en stormvind" by Carola.
Twenty-three countries participated in the contest - a new record number of participating countries - with the Netherlands returning to the contest following a one-year break to join the twenty-two countries which had participated in the previous year's event.
The winner was Ireland with the song "Why Me", written by Johnny Logan and performed by Linda Martin. This marked Ireland's fourth contest win, and brought songwriter Logan his third win overall, having previously won the contest in 1980 as singer and in 1987 as both singer and songwriter. The United Kingdom, Malta, Italy, and Greece also placed in the top five, with the United Kingdom recording its thirteenth second-place position and Malta and Greece achieving their best ever results in the contest.

”Rapsodia” is my all-time-favourite Eurovision song❤️
And mine! I particularly like the way the piano comes in.
That's my favorite Italian Eurovision song at least. It's not even my winner that year but it sends shivers down my spine when I listen to it and the incredible raspy voice of Mia Martini.
I remember watching the preview show for the Eurovision 1992 songs and Italy and Austria stood out in different ways: Italy because it had no music video nor a taped performance, just an audio of the song and pictures of Mia, and Austria because the preview video was borderline softporn.
I remember the Rapsodia video with the green countryside and the yellow flowers. Don't remember the Austrian one, but I had a look: what on earth was the thinking behind that???!!!
@@ar50000 In my country, they didn't show the countryside images just the audio and photos of Mia.
Ah, so like Austria this year?
@@lexezlao Austria's this year was very tame in comparison with the 1992 song music video.
Now I know qhy I can't remember most of the songs from this year, most of them sound like the same song.
Portugal, Italy, Greece and Israel are my standouts in 1992 but it's not the strongest year.
I also definitely prefer Terminal 3 to Why me?
The first of three times Eurovision went to Malmö.
Binge watched the version from the reboard guy.
The start of our 90s domination. I can only apologise... 😁
Mir hat nur der arme irische Sender leid getan. Der muss doch pleite gegangen sein. 😂
Nooo. You don't need to apologise
Kali 🙌 🇨🇵
Thank you so much for making this. 1992 was very special for me as that was the first Eurovision I ever saw. As an American I had never heard of it. I was living in Berlin and my German boyfriend and I watched it live together. I of course loved Linda Martins song, and became a Michael Ball fan. My other main memory was Wind representing Germany. Other friends then made tapes of albums of some of the best hits of past years that I wore out. I was able to eventually get CD’s of some of the recordings, but wasn’t able to watch the contest for 25 years. I was so grateful when I was finally able to watch it again in the US starting a few years ago, and am a devoted fan. This brought back special memories of the best year of my life. Thank you so much!!!

Portugal’s song had an interesting title lol.
Une belle année eurovision. Que de souvenirs !
If 1991 was an epic mess, 1992 veered to the other extreme with production too prim and propper that it became too dull.
The stage was certainly a bit dull and drab in 1992. 1991 was cheerful and the stage was bright. And a fantastic way to learn Italian.
I'm surprised that the language rule wasn't abandoned after this year. Top 3 all English songs. It was clear in the 90s that juries just wanted songs in English.
good video.
The orchestration were very good in 1992. And the sound quality was definently elevated compared to 1990 and 1991.
Dag Zou U Ook Die Van Junior Songfestieval Doen
Nei eða Já is a classic. Im glad it did so well.
Belgium and Finland deserved at least top 15!

YUGOSLAVIA!!!!!YUGOSLAVIA!!!!!BEAUTIFUL EXTRA NENA!!!!!MY DEAR YUGOSLAVIA!!!!
My top 10 is:
10) Iceland (7th) -> I really like the energy these ladies show.
09) United Kingdom (2nd) -> Great British entry.
08) Denmark (12th) -> Catchy.
07) Norway (18th) -> It gets me warm for some reason.
06) Luxembourg (21st) -> Kinda surprisingly.
05) Yugoslavia (13th) -> A nice way to retire.
04) Ireland (1st) -> The song that got the three years long party started. A great one but the best has yet to come (I'm looking at you, 1993).
03) Malta (3rd) -> Classic ballad.
02) Italy (4th) -> The best Italian entry. Period.
01) Cyprus (11th) -> That song and its mystery almost make me want to go visit the unknown magical places in Cyprus (if there are any).
Yugoslavia should have been much higher but sadly a lot of anti Yugoslav voting on the night.

The Belgian's moving would've been a reason not to vote for her.

Not the only time. Stad i ljus is also underrated 😢 Som en vind 😢 Hero 😢

Very blend year, literally every song sounds exact the same way (except few like Italy) ang quite boring though
1993 is my favourite year song-wise, but 1992 was by far the worst one. So many dull and forgettable entries, apart from Italy and the Netherlands
