Wow I’ve never heard anyone put fiberglass mesh on the pre slope and pan before. Thank you so much I may try that on the one I’m working on!
Glad it was helpful!
You earned a new sub - I’ve watched hundreds of pan vids and yours is really well done!
Awesome, thank you!
@@simonproatlI just read this comment and realized it was mine 2 mos ago Lol!!
This is so good! I’m learning to become a tile pro and you are extremely thorough. Thank you for sharing your talent with us
Glad it was helpful!
Love your process. I will be watching more of your videos!! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Wow that was such a great idea how you are able to get over the top of that large shower to work on it
Glad you liked it!!
Hey Simon. Great work
Bad tile, strong pan..
Such a beautiful shower Pan prep and and horrible tile but hey the client is Alayna right 😅😅
Good job 👍
Thanks 👍
I am talking the heigh/thickness of the concrete at the drain
You set the drain 1 1/2" from your base so you will have 1/2" room to unscrew it when you install tiles around it. Shower pan it usually 1 1/2" thick around the drain
I wanted to see how you do the walls. Do they touch the floor of the shower pan?
You want to leave ant least 1/2" gap between shower pan and cement boards.
Can you put a link to the fiberglass mesh, the thin set you're using and which waterproof membrane?.....thanks
I added a list off the materials and tools used in the project.
@@simonproatl Thank you excellent video and list.
Great video, New subscriber 👍
I'm working on my house and doing the bathroom, I was wondering about why didn't you put the cement boards all the way to the floor and then, the aqua defense on both walls and floor, how would be the transition form the wall to the floor?
I'm above to do my shower, and I was going to do it like that, cement boards on walls and floor, silicone on the edges between the wall and floor, then murder/tape both, then cement layer on floor as yours to level the floor towards the drain while reaching the edges between wall and floor, then fiber glass on floor as you, then aqua defense on both wall and floor, and keep doing the floor process as the video
I'm pretty much wishing to learn more from your and these steps
Bless and best wishes 🙏
Best transition from the shower pan to cement boards is to have at least 1/2" gap between shower pan and cement boards that are waterproofed. The best transition between shower floor and wall tile is to tile shower floor first and grout it and then set the wall tiles directly on top of it with 1/8" or less gap for grout to hold better. You don't want to use clear silicone between shower floor and wall tiles because it will get moldy. You can use caulking that matches your grout. But sometimes they don't match exactly.
Thanks a lot, you are the best 🙏
Since we have the pre slope and the actual slope which leads to thicker concrete install on the base of the shower, my question is that how tall the step at the door will be good enough to prevent water running out?
I use 3 - 2x4 for curb + cement board + thin set + tile. (slope on cement board and tile 1/4" or less)
You said you have two liners over the curb? Can you provide more info on this?
2 layers of waterproofing.
What if the pvc liner has folds in it? How can you get it absolutely flat?
Mortar will make it flat. :) Sometime you have to leave your liner in worm room for few hours before working with it.
0:29 Why not show how the floor/subfloor/base is constructed? How do I get to this point?
I will in future videos.
hi all, can anyone tell me how thick of the concrete do we need to install after we lay down the liner? or how thick of the concrete do we need to install before and after the liner? Appreciate
Pre sloped pan goes before liner and it's 3/4" thick near walls and it 1/4" thick around the drain. If your wall are 2 feet away from the drain it will give you 1/4" per foot slope. When you build the actual shower pan it's 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" thick. If you try to make it thicker your drain might not screw in into base.
to clarify, is it 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" thick of the concrete on top of the liner?
@@simonproatl how thick the concrete will be from the wall to the drain after we install the liner (actual pan)?
@@simonproatl I love to work around the house but never install a shower before. I am worrying of everything
@@simonproatl I think I got your answers to my questions, thank you.
