Spring is here! SO MUCH to do around the land and cabin | Garden, firewood, soil and water.

- In this video, we return to the cabin after a long winter. Our first task is to build raised beds for the garden. We got 3 cubic yards of soil delivered and fill up all 5 of our raised beds, as well as the inside of the greenhouse. Up at the cabin, we begin collecting rainwater for our daily use, and we full up our wood shed with wood that we cut, chopped, and stored outside last fall. We also fell a huge dead maple tree and will process it into firewood for next year's maple syrup production. Lastly, we end the video with some footage of the solar eclipse that we witnessed back in April 2024.

Living in a country where it is almost always summer, I'm learning a lot seeing your seasons and all the work in the land in each season. The charm in your videos is that you just go on doing your tasks without minding that there is audience. For me, that makes you and your vids genuine. Plus, you show us that much of work can be done with hand tools. I also subscribe to a number of homesteading off grid cabins and farms but they mostly do their projects with power tools. You inspire.

I really enjoy watching you guys. Your patients is amazing . Doing things with hand tools is slower and with so much to do, I am sure you are tempted to use power tools. Just a few (not too many) comments might be helpful to understand your thinking. Keep us updated. I too have missed your posts, glad to have you back.

For future reference OAK LEAVES take quite some time to compost. Also looks like you were sawing on some ready made gardening beds. Food for thought.

Nick and Maëla are Québécois. Their propriety is situated in the region of Lanaudière, in Québec, approximately between 100 to 200 kilometers (I think), after the city of Joliette, in north part of the great St-Laurent river.

I owned and built a manufactured house in the wilderness of Arizona. Both the house and my introduction of plants fell victim to attack by rodents. I also lived in Canada Ontario where the log cabins walls became infested with mice. My poisoned baiting saved my house and my neighbor said cleared the rats from his wood pile. Have you encountered this problem?
