Good day everyone!
In this long episode we will show what we did in one year working on this 100 years old off grid log cabin. It was a cabin to store grains we will be turning it into a livable space for our family. It take a lot of time because we are able to do the work only on weekends.
Within a year we started with deck extension, replaced the roof, built a chimney, insulated the roof and interior walls, installed windows, and prepared the exterior for insulation and siding.

Aside from your obvious craftsman building skills the video reminded me how dedicated you are to sealing the structure from cold, insects, and rodents. The higher speed video makes hammering sound like a woodpecker. ha!

In answer to ‘how much insulation and infestation protection are you going to use?’ The answer is Yes!!!
Being critical for a minute, I noticed a couple of areas where he didn’t insulate the insulation…. 😂
The main issue inside may be heatstroke, especially once the fireplace is in use
Heatstroke 😂 thats a good one 😂 well we will regulate the heat by opening all the windows 😂

I am glad to see that you put a center tension. Er beam or Joyce to pick up stress and flex in the center of your platform. So many people never put a structural beam. Or support through the center of a deck or platform and then wonder why there is so much swaying in the surface or settling and sinking in the center of the platform..
Yeah, I hate when somethings ar not in place properly especialy when its swaying 😁
Once the final nail is driven it would be interesting to know rough totals of boxes of screws, nails, metal bracing, electrical wiring, cement, mortar, and whatever else you used in quantity. 👍👍👍

We were on a boat trip in Idaho, Hell’s canyon. Someone tore down the existing cabin, but decent foundations, and re- built the cabin, I say Kudos, especially for tourists.
Your post told digger is one of the most ideal type of hand tools that you could possibly use to dig holes for post! I used to work with my dad when I was a young kid and that was the style and auger post hole digger.

Thats pine and spruce, it's just I use wood antiseptic which is brown/red color 😁
