    I couldn't make out the three types of Tracking. I got points, planar?, and 3D masking. I'm familiar with the first and third but the middle one? Do you have a video on it?
    When are you starting the course?
    jc

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před rokem +2

      Hi DeeCGI. Thanks so much for the input. Glad it was helpful. I don't have a video on planar tracking but perhaps I will make one soon. Essentially you use planar to track flat surfaces like street signs, billboards, Tv screens, etc when there is some parallax in the camera move but not enough to need a 3d track.
      Perhaps we will make a course this year. Right now we're sharing as much as possible for free on this channel. So the bigger our channel gets the more likely we will do more specific content like that in the future.
      Hope this helps!

    Thanks for making this. Do Hollywood studios use exclusive software or do they use consumer level products?

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před rokem +1

      You are welcome! It depends on the studio. Some of the really big studios use their own proprietary software but a lot uses standard 3d software like Maya, Blender, Houdini etc. It really depends. Most of the big compositing studios are using Nuke but now some studios using Fusion as well. Thanks for watching!

    @akcivan Před rokem +2

    thanks for info bro, i have a question. I work as freelance colorist for small and mid budget project. Generally those are not have CGI scenes. When it does how can i color it ? How can i request files from client to color ? What is the path ? ( i mean shot > CGI > compositing > color etc. or should i color each shot seperatedly then give them as alpha ?)

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před rokem +1

      Hi Koray,
      It depends on the studio but usually as the colorist you are only going to color the finished edit and rendered outputs. So they could put a rendered VFX sequence in the timeline like any other live action shot that you would color. If they want to see what the shot looks like with a basic lut added then they can add that lut within the compositing process to see what it will look like....but they will usually export to you something without the lut so you can do your job most effectively. Usually the colorist I work with want a flat or log image or even a raw file. So the VFX export would probably be something close to that. Hope this helps.

    I've picked up on becoming the lighting artist which eventually is the rendering step, right?

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před rokem

      Hi V. Being a lighting Artist sounds great! Knowledge of the rendering process is definitely important when it comes to being a lighting artist. I think the exact process would depend on the studio you are working with. Also depends on if you are becoming a lighting artist for realtime rendering or something more accurate with bounce lighting. You can learn a lot about shaping light and how to create a cinematic look from studying live action cinematography as well. A lot of vfx has to do with matching the CG lighting to the live action shot.
      Hope this helps.

    2nd Step is ASSET CREATION/ACQUISITION
    ...
    Tracking is the first step of compositing.

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před rokem +1

      Hmmmm. I can agree with before any of this is Concept Art is usually created. Not sure I agree with tracking being the first step in compositing. However this video is more of a breakdown of the steps in logical order to understand the process. Definately not set in stone and a lot of shots don't need certain techniques(Such as simulation and dynamics). Thanks for watching and the input. Provides a different perspective.

    Is VFX part of the environmental 3d modelling? Will it replace 3d animation for the future? Any risk from the AI?

    • @LightArchitect
      @LightArchitect  Před 11 měsíci +1

      3D Modeling environments is part of the VFX process yes. 3D animation is part of Visual Effects as well. As far as AI goes personally I think AI is going to be utilized in all of these fields. However unless/until the singularity occurs I believe that AI is just going to be another level of abstraction we can use to create things.
