I love that vfx artists are called "artists" and not technicians. They truly are artists. It's magnificent
They’re often referred to as “technical artists”
He could break down the whole movie in this style and I would watch it. Seeing how to movies get made and have a sneak peak at all the archive bts footage is such a treat. Got any take in the movie there is probably 10 different versions or angles of it we’ll never get to see.

kinda scary how there’s only 80 shots without visual effects. hats off to this dude he basically had to create the outside world digitally also I can’t imagine how tiring it must be for tom to perform 90% of the scenes in front of a green screen
i mean, that's like every marvel movie ever now...
Did you know that the Social Network had more VFX shots than Godzilla? VFX is not just lazers and explosions.
@@julienpouliot270 That movie had twins played by the same actor so it makes sense
Hats off should also be going to the actual people who created the “outside world”.
now? haven’t they always been like that?
i knew tom did a lot of his own stunts but holy crap he’s insane
All that ballet he did really paid off.
Too bad it all gets completely replaced as a CG model
Animators are still using his performance either in mo-cap or actual frame replacement

Too bad Dune is gonna win. They are not even on the same level of production, not even close.
I know CGI can turn people off sometimes, but it's still just as much of a daunting task as creating something practical, yes I do think filmakers should strive to be somewhere in the middle, but I say if they make it seamless then that something to praise.

Hollywood, don't ever change.

I would LOVE to see a VFX breakdown of the final fight scene that would be awesome!
vfx artists are so undervalued, not just by people outside of the film/tv industry but the actual industry themselves seeing as how overworked and underpaid they are 🤷🏾♀️ they have to time crunch all the time and the result is people saying using cgi is lazy. i do agree that cgi can be overused, particularly because studios like to exploit cgi artists, but i would never attack the actual artists or the craft of cgi. i just hope that they have better working conditions in the future
Wait really? Explain why please, i don't understand.
@@cupcakemcsparklebutt9051 Often, regular who have no experience with CGI love to criticize it when they find out it was CGI rather than practical (real), after they’ve already praised it. We say VFX artists are under appreciated because they are. If you’ve ever taken the time to look at credits after movies, there’s a part where they mention the artists and so many other people who rarely ever get credit. It all goes to the directors, (sometimes) writers, and actors unfortunately when it comes to superhero movies. They also get paid very little which is unfair.
@@SpiderManMCUniverse yup, they're very overworked for very little pay. and i can totally understand people calling out bad cgi but even when the cgi is good people still discredit cgi artists by saying stuff like "the movie looks good because they barely used any cgi". for example, the way people talk about dune when in reality theres 1000+ vfx shots in it. its like they cant win even when they do a good job lol
@@SpiderManMCUniverse Thank you for speaking it up. Those ignorant people who just complain about CGI are so annoying and rude
And there’s another video titled “Life after Pie.” That proves, Visual effects artist or animators gets treated like garbage in the industry.
I am an advocate for more practical effects and against overused cgi, but I will forever hold vfx artists in high regard for doing their best to recreate the world and make it look as seamless as they possibly can. When you consider the amount of time the team had, and how much they had to do, you can be more understanding of the final product. I do have issues with No Way Home's use of cgi where there really shouldn't need to be at first (I'm looking at you, Green Goblin) but I'm never going to blame the vfx team for this. It's mainly a decision made during production, especially since marvel movies seem to be increasing in number of projects coming out relatively close to each other, hence not enough time to clean up the vfx shots.
I agree. Love the movie but man it doesn’t look good to me
I can understand why they had to use more CGI for most of the movie, Covid-19 reasons
The Brooklyn bridge is a prime example of why CGI is preferred. It's cheaper and easier to animate. Shots that would otherwise be impossible are simply drawn.
@@fanzon7660 All the Spider-Man mcu films use gci wayyyyy too much and in situations where it just isn’t needed
@@ramito3337 this one took it to another level. Even the guy in the video himself made a joke about a simple shot of a seat belt still uses CGI. Go watch the amazing Spider-Man 2. I would literally watch the whole thing if he discussed every big scene
Geez Tom Holland really is Peter Parker & Spider-Man! 👏👏
I gotta say I specifically remember the car thrown into the water barrels and thinking how cool that looked that it had to be practical. Props to Port but there is still no beating those kind of shots

The fight of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and doc ock is a epic battle sequence that is the best mix of practical and cgi effects. As awesome the iron spider looks in the film, it’s even so dope that Tom Holland really did the epic stunts in the sequence in motion capture and even have him have a mechanical tentacle battle with doc ock.

I agree that practical effects often look better than vfx, but most people dont recognize that vfx is almost always invisible. Vfx isnt just in the explosions and costumes, it's in the trees and sidewalks
Tom Holland coming up with the wrinkly suit idea is phenomenal!!
I love seeing stuff like this and what goes into the CGI. I figured the fight scenes would be a lot of CG but the stuff like environments looked so good that you didn’t realize it was CGI. I am always for practical vs digital. But this was awesome to watch. And I see many film fans say acting today is easier because so much of it is CGI. I disagree with that and say it's more difficult. The actor has to use their imagination and react to things that aren't even there. Or do silly things like talk to a tennis ball lol.
