The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary’s mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
On this channel, The Lion Whisperer films the majority of his footage using a GoPro camera, allowing viewers to get as close as possible to the lions, leopards and hyenas at the sanctuary.
Kevin Richardson hopes to provide viewers insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and in turn, by watching the videos on the channel, viewers will be directly contributing to the conservation of these majestic animals.

"Daddy loves you" ... that is probably the shortest most meaning sentence that describes Kevins relationship with the cats. Its not just an animal.
InsaneTiger07 He is Daddy...he raised them from cubs and was the one that bottle fed them. He has indeed been their dad. No question about that. Meg definitely looks lost and trying to connect with others. Staying on the fence line next to Kevin says it all. She misses her sister very much and may be hoping for her return but it won’t happen. I love you all and want nothing but the best for you. My heart aches for Amy.. It happened quickly and came out of left field. 🦁❤️❤️🥰

Poor old Meg, she always had her sister by her side and the sudden loss of companionship definately left her a little bit lonely there.

I ave lost pets that were members of our family and it is a heart wrenching experience every time. Something I have learned is that do not let anyone put a limit on the time you need to grieve your loss. You will know when it is enough time. ❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️
When Amy died, I cried..little did I know that 4 months later I would lose my husband suddenly to advanced pancreatic cancer.. and now I feel like Meg must feel without her life-long partner. My brothers have been my "Kevin" in my life since he died. We all need a "Kevin" in our lives to love us. If you know someone who is hurting, please be their "Kevin". Bless you Kevin for showing us how important it is to be consistent in the way we love.

was with my mom Taking care of her for three months ,From her being first told that there's nothing that we can do ,,you have cancer Everywhere throughout your abdomen,, Till her death I was with her every second taking care of her till her last breath...Cancer is such a horrible thing, Three months of slowly deteriorate ,,bones breaking along the way .Her last words said to me was about a week before she passed, Exact last words"" I will miss you like crazy,I don't want to go...Then she was in and out of consciousness throughout the week but i made sure she had no pain I kept giving her oxy Under her tongue when she would start moaning in pain..., When she tryed to look at me. I noticed her eyes turned completely white..Then a day or so before her death ,I started noticing a change in her skin color a sign of organ failure.. I just sensed her death was coming that night so I made sure I stayed up with her every second ....then she took her last breath.... I didnt shed one tear,,, I just sat with her i was and even now i'm Heartbroken ,sad ,and very relieved, Traumatized and forever changed ,,,but yeah if I had to do it all over again I would ,,it was an honor to be there for my mother ,, Till the end.. I was so relieved she was no longer in pain... I didn't cry at all ,,for many months...Until certain memories of her would pop up... Rip To everyone and every soul lost ,,,we will never forget all the memories we made... Her death happened a few years ago ...Me and my 3 sisters we're always pretty close.. After my moms death I'd say five months after her death... we split all the assets 4 ways.. we No longer talk ,Pretty long story to type out in a comment... life never goes the way you think..Subscribe to my channel like my few videos of me and my dog feel free to leave comments ,I'll try my best to answer you or we could just chitchat and make friends.....Either way thanks for listening to me rant

When he sat with Meg and said "Daddy loves you." My little heart broke 💔 it goes to show that these lions are not just animals. They're not just friends, either. They're family.

It's amazing how sensitive animals are before they die, by waiting to say their last goodbye's before they pass.
She knew. She knew she needed you, she knew you needed to say goodbye, she knew she needed to say goodbye and thank you at the end and she needed to hear it was ok to go.

Thank goodness Meg and Kevin have each other. They are lost in sadness, but not lost alone. They both sense each others sadness. It is overwhelming to lose someone we love but they are both very blessed in that they have each other. I adore animals. It's just devastating saying good bye. Meg will need Kevin now and he will not let her down. My heart is with both of them. 😥

First, it's called Netflix. Second, why are you complaining? You talk about the content on Netflix like you're forced to watch it. You don't even have to sit through teasers, trailers and promos for said 'trash'.

You felt the loss from the passing of this lion as strongly as the loss of a family member. I could see it in your eyes. My friend, you are doing exactly the job you were put on earth to do.
a job isn't a job when it is what you love and Kevin LOVES his felines and all the animals at the sanctuary. He is gifted and that has led him to doing this job yes but more than that he is living a dream. The gorillas had Dian Fossey and the lions and hyenas have Kevin Richardson. We as humans are blessed for the connection he has to these predatory wild animals in which he is able to show and teach us so much about them which we may not ever know. it really makes me cry. She waited for Kevin as if she wanted to say "thanks for everything you did for us".
The fact Amy waited for you... I truly believe animals can decide when they're ready. We lost our horse of 33 years last year. She waited until the whole family was home until she lay down and didn't get up again. We were all there. She was lion coloured :) The paw/hoof prints they leave on our hearts... thank you for being so candid.

She’s always had her sister as a companion; after 16 years, I can’t imagine the loneliness and sadness. They are smart animals. She may very well have seen it coming. Prayers for Meg :(

Meg probably spent a couple of days calling for her. It breaks my heart to think of it. I remember Kevin talking about how Vayetse grieved when his brother Mfumo died; that's what led to putting him with Jinny & Livy. Those two naughty sisters helped Vayetse become a happy, snappy lion again. Meg is too old & set in her ways to have a new companion. I worry about her. I hope Kevin is able to spend a little extra time with Meg.

I've read some animals can sense sickness or cancer some can even detect a seizure before it even happens. Animals are amazing.

Im just so glad Kevin got the chance to say goodbye to Amy. She waited for him with every last bit of strength she had. That’s love. 💕
I had an experience of a very close friend waiting for me. He had been in ICU in a coma and the family allowed me to go say goodbye. I walked in, got a hand squeeze back. Less than 3 minutes and the monitors went nuts and he took his last breath. I don't know how beings know, but they do. I am so grateful to have felt the bonds of which sentient beings are capable 🙏.
I've never seen Kev speechless and unable to convert his thoughts into words like he was in this vid. Shows how much Amy really meant to him.

It is hard when you lose any animal, but so glad Amy waited to see you before she passed, now she is at peace you gave her a good life & I'm sure Amy knew that. RIP Amy.

I sensed that Meg knew Amy was very ill when she allowed Amy to sit with Kevin first. Also her roar along with Amy's roar during the video about Amy's illness was heartbreaking.

The Daddy Loves You had me crying harder than I was...Very hard for me to watch still, But I have to revisit these so I can see Amy...I MISS HER, yet didn't even know HER yet the impact of her is magnified thru all the videos...to where you felt you DID know her and she matters to us....as Meg and Kevin...seeing them hurt makes me hurt for them. Kevin's loss and poor Megs are unattainable to us, because they are not on the same spectrum. This is therapeutic to just come to the videos...not to watch them but to read the comments and realize I am not the only one who misses Amy who we didn't know her personally. But , Kevin made sure we knew as much as we could, and for that I will always be GRATEFUL to Kevin❤
I can´t imagine how hard losing Amy has been for Kevin and Meg, cause even I get teary eyed watching this video. Great, that Meg gets to interact with lions next to her like George every day, so she doesn´t feel that lonely. It´s so touching to hear how Amy waited for Kevin to come home, so she can let go.

Otherwise this is all Meg with Kevin in this Meg update video. YES that's how you tell Meg is her tuft of hair that sticks up by her right ear. Other wise I could NEVER tell Meg and Amy apart.

'Be careful humanizing lions' - now I have even more respect for this guy ! Not only did he manage to get to tame lions , he actually realized lions are 'tamed' not because they feel 'human emotions' . His capacity to understand wild animal emotions is pretty impressive !

There's no such thing as a 'tame' lion. They have a unique relationship with Kevin because it's a bond he nurtured from the time they were cubs. He's as familiar to them as a pride mate would be. But, they're far from tame. Search for a video of tourists visiting his sanctuary and see how differently the lions react to strangers. They're not tame by a long shot.
I have friends who do similar work to what Kevin does and they are... well it is hard to explain. Animals just like them. Even the wolverine on their property tolerates them which is saying a lot. Horses, big cats, deer, raptors, skunks, badgers... it doesn't matter they all see the one particular person differently.
So they are not tame but for the right people they will trust even if you have not grown up with them.
For the right person who carries them selves in the right way. He does not expect them to be human but accepts them for who they are. Most humans can't even do that with other humans without an agenda. He accepts their emotional life without trying to filter it through his human expectations.
Unfortunately those people who can do this are thin on the ground. And most of them are women. Everyone thinks they have it, that bond with animals, but in reality it takes a person who is in many ways not cut out for human society. Humans are many things but among those things they are casually cruel in ways most people never even realize. I am not saying that to be harsh it is just part of being the kind of primate we are. The vast majority of people don't have the awareness of their actions and thoughts that are needed to get non-domesticated animals to trust them. It can be learned but part of the learning is putting aside the idea that you want to get close to an animal for your own sake and that is hard to shed. But they can read it on you like it was printed in neon colors and you can't fake it. Setting aside ego is not a human strength and it shows in your body language in ways you can't control.
Like I said it is hard to explain. Even seeing how it works i can't do it and probably never will be able to. That is why you should never expect to bond with big cats like these and you should not try. You either have it or you don't and you should assume you don't.
Meg and Amy, two magnificent girls who have touched my heart.
Even the tremendous grief is a gift....a testament of his deep and loving relationship with these animals.
Hi Kevin, watching your videos, foremost of your life, connection , bond , love for these incredibly beautiful lions is unequivocally fascinating, leaving a alluring feeling of awe and wonderment and a respectful level of envy and jealousy. Firstly I am so so sorry for undoubtedly the most heart wrenching loss you endured over Amy's passing. Huge hugs.If I can candidly share with you a tragic passing in my life over 24 years ago. My beautiful mother had passed and in my culture this is a 3 day ceremony. On the third day, the day of my mums burial you could imagine the heightened and tense emotions. On awaking that morning the weather was horrendous, cold snaps and torrential rain bare in mind the weather up till this morning was sunny and fine. We were worried as my youngest brother had still to get home with other family members and were travelling together in this weather to make it. We couldn't set up for the amount of family friends and guest we were expecting, pre made arrangements were literally going a rye and things just weren't working according to plan. This is the reason Im sharing my story. My brother finally arrived. They battled through the most extreme weather to make it. As soon as he stepped out of the car at the end of a very packed drive way, the sky literally without exaggeration opened up with the sun beaming through. We all looked in awe at one another all sharing the exact thought that my mum was not leaving without saying goodbye to my younger brother. The sibling she spoilt the most. So with respect for Amy sadly she did hang on and wait for you, and to her, her journey forward wasn't happening without your approval or at the least not without your presence. Incredible relationship and a lot of LOVE....
This was absolutely heartbreaking especially Amy not letting go before she could be with Kev one last time - made me cry so hard. I do hope Meg will connect with one of the other lions so she's no longer alone and I think George is actually quite a good choice. As Kev said as hard as it is life goes one but it's also true that we will never forget Amy as she was one of a kind and so is Meg. Thanks for making this video for us and sharing your grief. Love you all so much.

Yes, he talked about George and Yame, the two cubs he rescued from Spain five years ago. Well, they were cubs at that time, now they both are beautiful grown lions, even if George still suffers from health issues because of how he was mistreated when he was young.
However, even if Meg feels lonely, I think she's too old now to be put with another lion or introduced to a new group. So, I'm not sure about what Kevin and his team will decide, but a little bit like Thor (the one who passed away a few years ago), she may have to stay by herself because there is no other solution...
With her showing interest in George & vice versa, perhaps they will bond. Sadly, these things take time. And all Kev can do is spend extra time with Meg. Like the loss of a loved one, Meg will heal in time. And so will Kev.😭
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia hi there.. I had the same mindset as you until I heard Kevin say Amy wants to be with her own kind now that her sister is gone. Georgie is such a special Lion and he has endured great suffering and probably has alot of compassion. My prayer is that since Lions are adaptable, that Meg will have Georgie as her new " boyfwend".. Lol Valentines Day is coming up.. I hope romance will be in the air for Georgie and Meg and that Yame will welcome her.. Blessings 💙🙏🦁
Maybe Meg isn’t grieving in the way Kevin has seen in The past because Amy made Meg aware of her imminent end. Even wild animals are aware of death, I believe. Thank you for being who you are, Kevin Richardson. May many blessings come your way.

Humans are arrogant to assume animals don't have empathy and they underestimate animals intuitive Powers. Even Kevin, with all his experience, has said that he wonders what goes on in their heads..
I think you're right. I remember seeing a video about 3 animal best friends. 2 of them knew long before their owners that the other was going to die. They were at peace when the poor thing passed away.

Animals are much more in tune with the circle of life than we are. I know she was waiting for you to say “I love you” and “goodby for now…”. You are a good man to share this with us.

OMG...this relationship Kevin has with the lion(esses) is so delicate and inexplicable. I can feel the pain of his loss. I choked up and wept too. Amazing how in the end we (humans and nonhumans) all are bonded together.

My husband just passed last month so I'm certainly grieving with both of you, for his loss and for Amy's. We loved watching your videos together and he loved seeing your interactions with all the animals. It was actually one of the things that made him want to eventually open our own wildlife rescue here in the US. I know that if he can, he'll keep Amy company for you. ❤

Once a bond is formed with any animal it remains for life, as even in their passing they remain forever in your heart. Man this is a tuff one. I fell in love with Meg and Amy the second I found this channel almost 2 yrs ago. I can only imagine how you all there feel. My heart breaks for Kevin, but I’m sure he’s at peace knowing he gave her the best life full of love, attention, and happiness. Meg definitely sensed Kevin’s sadness and tried to comfort him. An animal’s loss is always - always - heavy. Whether it is a pet or a “wild” animal, whether we have lived with them or not. Cause they are so pure at heart and soul, so attuned to nature and its laws, that when it is time for us to part with them (even temporarily, as I choose to believe), the part within us which is raw and pure and natural (and away from the “rationalities” of life) recognises the significance of this loss. And it hurts like hell. “Till we meet again”, that’s what I think. In any form or shape or time or space. The bond that love creates is the strongest bond. And it is never broken.

I hope George and Meg are able to bond enough for them to share an enclosure so Meg is no longer alone. She is too much of a social butterfly to not have a companion with her constantly. It's so very clear how much you love these animals. No one really knows how Meg is feeling since Amy is gone but the love you give her and the fact she is able to live out her life, how ever long it may be, surrounded by such love and care is what is so beautiful. Don't forget to also care for yourself and be kind to yourself because even the strongest need someone to lean on in emotional times. Thank you for posting this video and for all the work you do.

Omg, I cried watching this at the part when you talked about Amy waiting for you to come before she passed, she waited for her dad to say her final goodbye bc it would break your heart if she passed without you getting to say goodbye.
I’ve been watching all your videos from the beginning and it felt as if theses lions are a part of my life vicariously.
Meg seems more somber from her body language. Are you gonna try to introduce her to yami or any other lions so that she’s got a mate when humans aren’t around?

I love how Meg is such a good looking lady. There really is an emotional bond here, years of trust.
Thank you for this important update Kevin. I was so upset about Amy and also Meg having to go on without her sister.
Here is what I observed:
1) Meg seems even more affectionate toward Kevin. She needs you & having more visits with her is very likely giving her the extra attention & love she is craving after Amy's passing.
2) She is doing better than I expected so that is giving all of us more peace of mind.
3) I felt from Meg that she had the time to adjust bc Amy's death was not sudden, and I am sure she smelled the cancer in her sister so instinctively she sensed impending death.
*My question is: So was Amy in her own enclosure towards the end? If so that allowed Meg more time to adjust to being without her sister.
It is truly remarkable & a testiment of Amy's love for you Kevin that she waited until your return before going to sleep forever. She needed to say goodbye one last time. I do believe our precious animals go to Heaven to await their human campanions. Thank you Kevin for this lovely video. I know it had to be difficult to show your emotional pain from this loss, but appreciate it bc it gave me closure and relief that Meg is doing ok. ❤️

My cat died a year ago, after more than 20 years together, while I was petting her and crying, I know exactly how you feel. Nothing can replace them, a year passed and I still cry sometimes, Rip beautiful animals, you brought us nothing but joy and love💗😿
