I locked all of Europe in a cage until only one country remained EU4 AI Only Timelapse

- Warning: There's a bit of a strobe because of the winter cycle. I did my best to reduce it but I can't make it go away entirely. I made a graphical mod that should fix this issue going forward.
This is actually the third attempt at a timelapse, the first one I left the outside world to run and the Mamluks built a canal that allowed the Europeans to escape. The second attempt I forgot about the crossing at Gibraltar and the Portuguese escaped. It was kind of sad because of how the others were turning out was really quite interesting. I plan to do a number of these matches if they prove to be popular. What region would you like to see next?
The wall is here, though the mod doesn't remove any countries:steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Ah yes, the Great British Empire, well-known for its loyalty to the Catholic Church and rich French culture.
Many English Kings had _fidei defensor_ title, so...
France in disguise
I mean.. The British royalty has lots of French ancestry due
Especially when the Normans came and made French the language of the wealthy in England
@@estebanod that's reason we have the words cow (saxon) for the animal and beef for the meat (boeuf in French), as well as pig (saxon) and pork for the meat (porc in french). It tells you alot about who was raising the animals (saxon serfs) and who was eating them (wealthy norman french).
Peak Plantagenet
I like how Nogai spent 2500 years in the urals trying to not be noticed by Russia, all while GB comes across from the other side of the continent to take their megacity.
I didn’t even notice them myself until you pointed them out
Same lol
I think Nogai may have been a vassal of Russia, since Britain invaded Nogai at the same time they finished off Russia’s Siberian provinces.
that´s exactly why Russia lost at the end
and the only province not converted to catholicism too lol based
Thanks for showing the Great Power tab. I wasn't sure who had won this as it was a close game.
Sarcasm 100
lmao

Sad French noises

Once Britain inherited Spain, Europe's fate was sealed.
I love how Bavaria just chilled and sat back through all of the 4th millenium
Georgia to the Ottomans: "I'm the Captain now"
"You got soooo close, but this is without mending. You got the baaaad... ending"
Serbia: I'm about to wreck this man's career
It seems that GB won but in reality all of Europe speak french and is chatolic lol
*"I've won......*
*but at what cost?"*
- GB
Thats pretty much how we see history anyway
Not bad
British administration, French culture. Not bad
I like the fact that entire Europe is now Catholic...
Spain: EUROPE IS MINE
GB: Do wan't a marry?
Spain: Sure
*New heir Carlos II*
Spain: *O h n o*
So the AI needs about 6000 years to WC when only Europe is playable.
Fun fact: the Queen of GB is still Elisabeth II.
"This is actually the third attempt at a timelapse, the first one I left the outside world to run and the Mamluks built a canal that allowed the Europeans to escape. The second attempt I forgot about the crossing at Gibraltar and the Portuguese escaped."
Damn, you have to give it to the AI, it will always find a way to mess up your plans. Also, can you show the winner nation's ideas at the end of these videos? I think it would be interesting to see what GB picked, I'd imagine they still have Exploration, even if there is nothing to explore or colonize.
containment breach
Portugal in the beginning: I've mastered the ability to stay so still that I become invisible to the eye
I love how late game they deved their provinces so much that they could take like 3 provinces out of Russia's hundreds each war
Nah, that's not it, province warscore cost is capped at 30 development. It's because the AI sucks at managing governing capacity.
Im loving the 1400+ ships GB had, absolutely redundant and just a huge flex
they were dead sure that even if russia took over europe, they were NEVER going to invade gb .
Welcome to Great Britain, traveller. Take this, it will aid you in your quest.
*Gives book written in french*
Seriously I’m perplexed. How did Britain win and somehow still lose at the same time?
100 years war in a nutshell
Behold, the almighty AI Georgia
nevermind serbia fucking curbstomped them
serbia gone now too :(
@@shintopriestesskikyou5674 pretty sure Serbia was a vassal of Russia as they annexed them all at once with no occupied provinces
I was rooting for Georgian Byzantium to happen 😔

GB: None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me.
We've gone from a twenty diplomatic slot European lovefest to an international slaughterhouse in the span of three videos. And I love it. Great timelapses!
Love how they finally developed Norfolk. I live there. Took long enough
norfolk megapolis
They didn't actually One Faith. The Nogai megacity was still Ibadi.
True happiness is when both France and Ottomans get vibe checked in EU4
Really? France always dies in every single one of my games and it's getting tiresome.
Now, EU3 France was a true force to be reckoned with.
@@TheDolphinTuna that's not my experience.
@@Zivilin I'm jealous. I miss the big blue blob, man.
@@TheDolphinTuna Yeah same. Big blue blob always happens for me.
France is only OP in the hands of a player. The AI sucks at using France.
Being an island nation always gave a huge advantage in both game and actual history
Not really. England is unique. What did it give Japan? Or Taïwan, or any island really. Its only useful as long as the continent is too busy killing itself.
@@romeosgs1452 Simple. Island nation is relatively easy to establish a long lasting order after dealing with some internal conflict, because of their unique culture and difficultly to escape abroad as an outlaw, in general, islanders tend to obey the system more often. It's political isolation and sea as a natural moat can defend outside invaders cost effectively. Geographic situation concentrate them to develop maritime tradition and invest in commerce which is a critical key to build a thriving nation. Easy to defend, easy to attack, utilize continental conflict to earn a profit, strong maritime and commerical tradition, relatively stable politics. This is a key reason why Britain and Japan consequently became a global powerhouse.
Of course, in game and vice versa.
@@Amnok yeah, as I said, England is unique, this shit only works in games, not in reality, Japan was a backward state constantly in civil war with no centralised power for most of its history, the only reason it became a power house, and it didn't even do so 100 years, was because the continent started being divided, that's it. Island's are good for trade? No, good locations are good for trade, its not because they are islands its because they are usually closer to the coast, no different than a port city such as the ones the Dutch have the Greeks had, or really most countries. Islands that only concentrate on trade usually get conquered, and they are much more prone to backwardness, isolation, and any natural disasters. Go read history books.
@@Amnok you mixed up being an island and being on the coast. And there is no source that I know of about islanders obeying a system more often, or having a unique culture. Japan has the ainu and a culture of obedience that comes from China, not an island. Taiwan got its culture destroyed in less than 100 years. England was divided for quite long, barely unified and split once and might still split more.
@@romeosgs1452 First of all, Japan was not a backward state compared to it's neighbors. Not to mention Korea, it is Chinese to go backwards and deny to imbrace foreign ideas. In contrast, Japan consistantly traded with Portuguese,Dutch merchants and had a strong trade ties with southeast asia. Although Japan closed their nation until Americans came, they had the most advanced army and technology throughout east aisa.
Once again, Portugal remains unchanging eternally
Portugal: don't mind me, just staying in my corner
GB: nice lands you have there
I want a time lapse where EVERY country has permanent claims on the entire world.
Crazy GB comeback, I thought Russia would snowball out of control after they took more than half of Europe but it looks like their armies weren't as GREAT
Western Europe's provinces are really good so it's not a surprise UK won especially after it inherited spain
I love how the Ottomans hid themselves in northern Syria for nearly 3000 years before being crushed by Russia who wanted to show they could still defeat somebody!
The Brits letting Bavaria chill because everyone knows who the real enemy is and it always will be
Is all this red simply Great Britain's colour or the blood they made flow?
Yes
Proof positive that Spiffing Brit is an AI.
So did GB take over spain with a PU? Spain just evaporated all of a sudden around 2 minutes in
Definitely
Most of lategame was the question if Europe was gonna be conquered by the red wave sweeping through ... or Russia.
was rooting for a bavaria comeback, they event won that one war and took a bit of coastal land from GB making bacaria hearth shaped.

Green development in Nogai 👍😅

well, France always dies in your timelapses , but french culture is everywhere this time! so we won?
France still lost in our hearts 😔
Aw hell yeah i love the length of the time line on this one
Gb got so lucky with the pu over Spain
You could do this with every continent
I'd love to see this done with every continent and then have the winners battle it out

It's like the britisch daydream, but instead they decide to stay in their island every game ...
So the british dream about conquering europe while making sure everyone spoke french? Sounds like a nightmare for them
Russia: hello Europe
Britain: Its time to drink some

that lippe denmark was so beautiful but it got crushed by pommerania, munster so quick
Okay, that was incredibly surprising.
*After 5000 years of nonstop medieval warfare, Great Britain crosses the Urals and wonders where everyone is. They see the Chinese Galactic Fleet descend upon Earth*
How do you even run the game for *5 millenia* like wouldn't your compy explode? How long did it take irl?
Proposition: Maybe some sort of championship? series of short timelapses in each EU4 region, then, winners battles with each other on each continent and finally, battles between continent winners? Countries that hold >1 region remain in region where they have more development and the rest provinces give to custom countries of local culture or stuff like that.
Great Britain: I've won, but at what cost?
It’s Beautiful
>One faith
Nogai province: hah, pathetic
I honestly expected some other country to hold all of Europe with Britain just vibing in the isles like it does all the time
Could you do similar videos to other continents too? And then put the winners against each other or something
the good timeline in all aspects
Didn’t expect Bavaria to come up there
Alternate Title: The rise, and fall, and rise, and fall, and rise, and fall of Nogai.
When the (probably) million soldier of Bavaria is so much not a threat anymore that GB puts its name on the country. That is called disrespect.
I assume you had to actually leave this game running on your computer? How long did that take?
39 sec
I say the strangest thing about this entire thing is that the HRE existed until the literal last day
Splendid.
I'm happy to see Bosnia lasted as long as it did. My people are strong!! 😂
10 full minutes of watching rebellions in Russia
12:28 That one Ibadi province....
you should do one challenge per continent
then import the resulting winners in the same game
then make them Duke it out
Great!
Props to the ottoman rebel province that lasted for about 200 years uninterrupted, fighting the good fight
It's quite funny how Great Britain formed in this almost the exact same time it did IRL, unless that was meant to happen and I'm dumb
Great Britain has so many army, but no one of them protecting their main isle. Lol
I hate how even after defeating russia a few times it still took them 2000 years to conquer all of it
Please do this with other parts of the world again

Can you do it a mod "only europe" maybe ?
I'm glad that Austria survived until the very end ...
...Georgia, is everything okay at home?
Can you put the mod you used in the description please? It would be cool to try a game like this
I can, but the mod only makes the wall. I manually removed all the other countries via the console before starting. Once my current timelapse finished I can upload it if you're still interested.
@@EU4T That would be great! The countries are not really a problem, I'll just remove them via console too and make a backup save if I want to do another game in the future. Does this work for the latest patch?
This is 1.30.6. Leviathan is finally stable enough for my timelapses to run reliably but the game still runs about 33% slower in 1.31 so I can't get myself to commit yet.
I'd love to see this but just the new world
what was the sound track its nice
Mamluks: *builds Canal* BE FREE! QUICKYL BEFORE THEY SEE!
It's clear from this video that the AI has no idea how to manage governing capacity. I'm pretty sure that's why they kept peacing out for like 3 provinces at a time.
