If anybody's confused about why they went north-east instead of west as he said, he meant the country of "West". When the almighty Strch'prst, the fearmongerer of Htwljdrt created his empire, he used the Casarian (not to be confused with Gardsarian) map, which was rotated 30.56° clockwise and since according to the map the land he claimed was Eastwards, he named it "West". You people have obviously never read the original light novel and the Troll War on Trhjakar book series.
Little know fact, the cardinal direction is named after the emperor Ratch'ep West, who brought much of the known world at the time under his control in his Elven Controlled Fir Empire, so named after it's founder, the possibly mythological Elven Controlled, the orc sailor who first landed on those shores while looking for a fountain that cured syphilis
I am currently reading the light novel and the Troll War on Trhjakar book series and I must admit, I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that "West" is also known for the Mind Reading the Tum-Tums but it only works when the four eastern moons align.

The great thing is that I watch LOTR lore videos and some of them are shot exactly like this, and sometimes make the same amount of sense as this one. 10/10 amazing job!
@@SirMatteus I would love to see you do some of these anti-lore videos for famous franchises. Maybe aim for about 5 - 7 wild guesses to every one canonically true fact.
It all makes perfect sense once you read the trilogy, the prequel, the sequel, the pre-prequel, the 12 or so additional lore books and that one wacky Christmas spin-off.
You won't understand anything if you haven't looked at the original manuscript and deciphered the old pencil written draft under the final ink written letters. Anything else if amateurish at best.
Basically Star Wars: Original Trilogy, The Prequel, The Sequel, and the 'pre-prequel' could be The Old Republic (that is no more Canon) and the High Republic (that is Canon so i will count that). And there are so much lore books that i will not even count.
Wish you'd touch on the implications that Klug Klug himself had Berkel ancestry. Jijikigsek was a Tumtum that defected from the main branch taking with him a battalion of elite warriors westward on 420 of 69 TA Time, vowing revenge due to, according to him, being denied his rightful place as the leader of the Berkels. The author really made a point to describe Klug Klug as having the same exact features as Jijikigsek, with the slimy pink hair and green moldy teeth. I myself buy into the theory that they are one and the same, Jijikigsek having managed to retain his youth by sucking on the tentacle of the birb of Feldor Pass. I mean the geography basically gives it away-- was it mere coincidence that of all the places he thought to build a settlement, he went West? I think not. Klug Klug might just be planning an invasion to "retake" Arrrerror. Funnily enough, since the Kingdom itself only existed after his defection, and before the Berkels were generally a nomadic race.
Why do so many people debate this point? Imo the description was the entire point of that scene, like a comedic subversion. I don't know why people miss it. But now I don't know if it was meant to be subtle or not.
It's actually Ghrtjri hrj-rjyt t. Also, the Tum-Tum migrated EASTWARD towards Klug-klug, as the map correctly shows, not WESTWARD, as you say. Klug-klug was known as warlord of the WESTERN lands because he did all his razings coming FROM THE EAST relatively to Arrrerrorrer. I bet you don't even know where the Fuuuuuuuk come from, smh. I don't remember who's video I was watching but they said something to the effect of: "My humor is so steeped in nihlism that the only things that make me laugh anymore are ironic jokes that require an unironic effort to make" I'd say you've accomplished that with this.
As someone who runs a lot of different RPGs for my gaming group this is honestly what it feels like to introduce them to any new setting I've created. It's even more close to home because I've used Inkarnate for like 3 years now.
This is actually a lot like watching lore videos for franchises I *do* know something about. There's always a ton of super-obscure world-building that you could only know by reading a comic that could only be obtained by buying one of only 50 hand-numbered ultra-deluxe box sets that were only sold in Latvia.
And then you get stuff like Star Wars where info from novels, comic books, and action figure blurbs written independently of one another is all presented side by side without comment and people wonder why it's so convoluted.
@@Shagamaw-100 Oh wow, I forgot about that, even though I can actually see my copy from where I'm typing this. Yes, you're right, it fits exactly (other than the whole limited edition only available in Latvia thing).
Can't wait until you make a video about the overly complex in-world magic system that only makes sense to the author. Bonus points if the author forgoes calling it magic.
If the author understands it then it means readers can spend years vivisecting the lore to figure out how it all works down the finest detail... until the publishers buy the rights to the author's creation outright, then immediately retcon half the lore, making a mockery out of people's hobby of wanting to understand a happy game of pretend more.
Still in shock over Klug-Klug’s character arc in book 17 of the 32nd series. Watching these videos, you can’t tell he and that evil warlord in this leg of the story are even the same character.
It's like you didn't even read the companion novel South Wwarenticus. Klug-Klug was rumored by the Brajantines to have taken a draught of nipplebream, inverting his mana crystex and inviting a Fuuuuuuuk-spirit into his soul's chasm. It's literally a different character you CASUal

Well, in the real world, ancient Chinese history (especially from the Qin dynasty onwards) has that as well, so it is not that unreasonable if a culture has a high enough degree of literacy and an interest in preserving ancient texts.
@@davidguyette2586 The fact that we know fuck all about Gildgalad's kingdom, despite him being a person of legends and his kingdom having lasted for 2000 years really grinds my gears.
The scribes of the Berklers even knew the thoughts of their enemies. If only they talked about it to their people, then the great war could have been avoided and Arrrerrorrer would still be called Arrrerrorrer .
That depends on how we define 'lore' within a fictional world. It does not have to be -in world. And if it is, is it a primary source, or a later analysis? If you compare it to real-world chronicles, they can be pretty damn particular about certain things. And there's entire books written on single sentences in those chronicles by later historians.
Sometimes I pop into lore videos for series that I was never into; the more in-depth, the better. I just enjoy hearing people talk at length about their passions.
Technically, it was the FOUR clans. The Tak-Tur remained in the Shadow of Gormtukeror but the other three Berkel clans disowned them. Depending on if you accept the expanded universe or not, you could even argue the Berkel that escaped the terror of Glug-Glug and fled to through Feldor Pass during the Second Moon of Kket are a fifth clan now, especially those who experienced The Transformation. But I digress. I guess this is a good introduction to the Lands of Kerkin IP

Love your video! Small correction: In the limited special expanded edition of the compendium of the second trilogy, the author mentioned in appendix e that the 4th 'R' in Arrrerror was supposed to be silent. Thus pronounced more like, "Arrre-r-or". Other than that, great video, very well researched and excellent quality!
I hate that so many properties/series have fallen into the trap of prioritizing world building over, subtext, themes, and telling an original, interesting story. A detailed, realistic world isn’t worth its weight in piss if you don’t use it to tell interesting stories that resonate with real world themes and/or ideas.
A story without a world crumbles into dust. A world without a story can lie in wait, or can serve a GM ti run RPG, or more. *I need to remember to not identify myself with the "evil" side of writing! Prioritizing worldbuilding is needed, and I'm doing the right thing.*
Klug-Klug did nothing wrong, and if you ACTUALLY covered his limited edition book series written in 1986 (they were never reprinted, despite their immense popularity between me, author, and his mother) you would see why! You, sir, did a piss poor job at depicting his character and motivations, and i must tell you why you failed in my own 1 hour long essay video where what i will do is only throw insults at you, react at this video, and will not do any actual remarks on Klug-Klug's history!

You joke but I literally go out of my way to find stuff like this just because I like hearing the passion of strangers about things you know 99% of people would not care about. The fact they make a video knowing full well that no one might care but did it anyway for their own sake to get their thoughts and opinions "on paper" means a lot to me in a weird sonder way. Once watch a video over a hour long from start to end about a guy talking about a small part of a game he likes and I enjoyed it so much I decided to basically binge watch his whole channel in a single night because the rest of his stuff was pretty much like that. For anyone curious the channel I'm referencing is Joyless and the original video I watched was his Mortal Kombat Konquest one. Not even a fan of Mortal Kombat but youtube blessed me with the recommendation after refreshing myself on the lore of the series at random one night. I just wish I can find channels that basically exclusively weird folks talking about weird things in a nerdy subjective but passion filled way. I live for such.
Yes, but why is no one talking about how the contributions of the fuuuuuuks to the great war were completely left out. I can’t believe this hack bothered to make a video.
I like video games but I rarely have the time or money to play them. Which lead me to watching people play them on CZcams. Which got me into lore videos because a story is more interesting to experience second hand than a playing of games. Now CZcams randomly recommends me 3 hour videos deep diving into a franchise I don't care about at all and I'm like fuck yes. Every now and then a 8 hour masterpiece slips in there and I have so much respect for those creators.
Dude, I had that with a conspiracy video on ancient art and sculptures. I'm not into all that really, but I like watching people coming up with stories and hidden meanings, haha
@SoulDevoured1 No words can express the amount of time I spend on CZcams just because I was recommended a video on some game from the 90s to 2000s that hasn’t seen anything in years, and then the amount of grief I get from it cause it’s gone despite never playing said game

Ah, but you forget to mention the very important fact that the Fir Folk had a dark counterpart, called the Pine Folk, which liked to perch on various pine-y conifers in the snowy Septira Mountains, where they harnessed the Art of Icy Dusk, part of the Praxis available to both the Fir Folk and Pine Folk. Much like the Fir Folk had three clans, the Berkel, the Pine Folk had nine clans, known collectivelly as the Gherkin, united in the Tribal Satrapy of Pan-Polarian Fowl. The fandom has led decades-long debates on whether the Pine Folk have free will or are subject to Klug-klug and do not realise they are being used to nefarious ends. And don't forget the famous battle-squawk of the Pine Folk - "Iiiiiika-griiiika-graaaaka-haaaaa !" - which translates to "The feather-pluckers-art-upon-thou !". The battlecry devised by the Guild of Feather-Pluckers First and Only, which later developed into the Sacred Ordens Militant of Feather.Pluckers, declaring holy war on the Fir Folk for their refusal to admit their form of Praxis is heresy.
One of my buddies writes for a semi-popular fantasy franchise that I haven’t read anything of even to date, and listening to him explaining the world is basically like this, only I get to see the excitement on his face. It’s not a bad experience.
My favourite thing about these types of vids is that you learn more about the lore than you do in the actual fucking book/game. Its like the creators forgot how to world build and just shoved all the extra lore they forgot to talk about into a really obscure comic or some shit.
There's a reason why actors always, always ask "what is my character's motivation?" and not "what did my character do for the past five years?" Lore dumps are boring. Emotions are interesting.
Insightful and easy to understand. Been looking for a decent Fir-folk lore youtuber for a while now and I'm so glad the algorithm suggested this vid! Instant sub!
there's aren't fir-folk its FUR-folks, they're named this way obviously because they are all birds with feathers, dont toy ever pay attention to the lore?
This reminds me of when Ar-Pharazôn, as was his name in Adûnaic, also called Tar-Calion in Quenya, twenty-fifth king of Númenor, son of Gimilkhâd, was deceived by Sauron and turned against the Valar and Eru Ilúvatar, even being convinced to destroy Nimloth, then take his ship Alcarondas and lead The Great Armament west, past Tol Eressëa, to Valinor, in Aman. This led to the breaking of Arda, and the destruction of Númenor. But as we all know, the line of Elros survived through Elendil, who escaped with his sons, Isildur and Anárion, and some faithful others to Middle-earth and founded the kingdoms Arnor and Gondor, the realms in exile. Of course all this is told in The Akallabêth.

the Fir Folk have always been my favourite faction but they got really fucked in the last edition Skree'akleth becoming queen and uniting all the Berkel clans was such an obvious fucking woke girl power redcon and cam eout of nowhere, like remember the Berkel clans were last united only in a temporary alliance during the war against Hroverthynia, and this was a fucking world-ending threat and they only had a temporary alliance but now, with the only major threat to them being the fucking Krathul, they have to just unite under Skree'akleth cause she killed a fucking Grominthinian Archon and that is such a big impressive achievement appearently, nevermind Orthilkus back in 2e had a sword made from the bones of a Cloderith Elemental and those eat Grominthinian Archons for breakfast, noooo that doesn't count for shit cause Girl boss I guess, honestly the Fir Folk lore in this edition feels like utter fanfic. Well, if he is to dedicate a video to each of the Berkel, the one on the Fuuuuk needs to be at least four hours long to cover all of the tidbits that are essential to grasping the basics of their long and storied history. The guy has his work cut out for him.
Once again following Tolkien's footsteps and borrowing from Finnish language: Berkel, resembling close enough to Perkele, which means devil. Tapa, means Kill in finnish. Arrre, is just aarre(Treasure) with single letter change and then the rrorrer was added to make sound more Berkelian. Clearly there are no holes in my theory, nor can anyone proof my claims false. Okay but the warlord is kidnapping the nerd variant of the birds specifically? Not culling them, but capturing them? What's up with that? Is it just because he needs a workforce and anyone will do and these are easy catches, or is it that he's targetting them specifically for their knowledge? Is it some sort of a visionary attempt at forcefully advancing a civilization from its backwards position by authoritarian use of force with the hope of leaving a legacy of enlightenment at which point the reins can be loosened, a project which has oh so many pitfalls where it can go terribly wrong? Is it some sort of a weapons enhancement project? An intelligence gathering project for further conquest of the world? Or just building up a ready-made reserve of brainwashed educated overseer class for the empire to come? I'm invested now, where's the next video
Yes, yes, but you left out the part when Nrelnior Ghhrhgn, the fabled Tapa from the Legend of Krelkiir and the Blacksmith of Araadeia, a book written in 5, inspired a new wave of rebel Berkel Tapa, called the Ghhrhgn Order, during the Great War. They rallied and organized and practically a miniature clan of their own until the movement faded out by the time the Gariigkiti Battle of Tuuskaan Bridge came around. Very vital stuff.

Exactly.

That depends on how we define 'lore' within a fictional world. It does not have to be -in world. And if it is, is it a primary source, or a later analysis? Tapa, means Kill in finnish.
Arrre, is just aarre(Treasure) with single letter change and then the rrorrer was added to make sound more Berkelian.
Clearly there are no holes in my theory, nor can anyone proof my claims false.
I am joking of course.
In the next video can you go more in depth about the Klug-Klug Uprising? My friend has been asking about it and I just don't have the patience to explain about the Riots of Horaardiam and Fordderaro, not to mention Huul the Destroyer's reign over Opossiomsalal during the Vrewid period. He hasn't read the fourth book yet so no spoilers!
This has a Rick and Morty/Interdimensional Cable, "drunkenly improvise and animate it later" energy and I'm loving it
this... hits too close to home
@@SirMatteus It's true isn't it?
Rick and Morty sucks. Its the perfect cartoon for douchey millennials who think they know stuff.
@@dudefrombelgium i mean... it's a show. Dont have to act like the people you're insulting either :V
@@dudefrombelgium what did the show do to you lmao its a really solid comedy imo
"They migrated west before being captured" *Shows them going straight North East*
Fuck directions, all pointing and shit, real men make their OWN west, by just walking straight forwards no matter where they’re pointing!
I do legit watch these sorts of videos because, well, if they're interesting enough I might just get into the series myself. Basically I watch lore videos like this as a pitch of "what's really neat about the world" and it is often really surprising what turns up.
I'm a casual LOTR fan, and just now I'm listening to the Silmarillion audiobook for the first time, and I can't stop laughing because I keep remembering this video. I had to watch it again to get it out of my system.
"The land of the Nando franchise" fucking sent me 🤣
A friend of mine calls these kinds of things 'fakelore.'
Lore from an alternate dimension
If my history lessons were taught like this I’d’ve payed more attention
How were you able to record this without laughing? Truly marvelous
Not gonna lie, now I want to play the crappy mobile MMORPG based off this...
Shadow Avianta:Mobile Adventures Deluxe
Okay but
the warlord is kidnapping the nerd variant of the birds specifically?
Would not be a lore video without a few blocks of text in the comment section. Thank you so much for this.
I could only love this more than I do were I not so jealous of your rolling "R's" My mouth cannot do that.
I just recently watched a 4 hour documentary on the storyline of Payday, a franchise I had 6 hours of experience with 5 years ago and frankly forgot all about until that video popped up in my recommended feed. Despite being set in the real world, it didn't make much more sense than this video.
Can't wait for the Payday novelization so we can really get the backstory for that drill they use that keeps jamming.
The funniest part about this is that I don't which Payday franchise you're talking about. As such, I choose to believe that you've watched a 4 hour documentary about Canadian labour rights in the 1970s.
@@usernamenotfound80 That makes it sound a lot more productive than what it actually is, thank you.
What gets me with the Payday lore is that it is absolutely fucking BURIED in the game and the trailers. Like I wouldn't have guessed the storyline at all about the whole fucking ancient nephilim stuff that goes all bonkers. I just did it because I wanted to rob a bank whilst Donacdum blasted as I'm blazing away with a minigun.
@@luketfer It's pretty heavily implied there's something deeper, but you don't really think about it when there's 300 SWAT officers storming the building while you're bagging up 20 tons of gold.
Wow! The early history of the Pkunk is so interesting, particularly before the Pkunk-Yehat schism.
I did not expect to find Star Control here but I am not disappointed.
.
Just after Eeny Wikki Beeki Birdi sat on the Mystical Egg of Icelike Temperature and gave the Original Squawk
I see Star Control 2, I upvote!
Such a shame that when Yorlkin-Scorlmin of the Shmegna clans ('with pubic hair') came with his armies from the southern western region in the north, they were able to drive out the Berkel from Arrrerror by aggressively building untasteful houses on every plot of land with their many fingers and toes.
I love when the animation of the different species start moving all over the screen erratically. 👌
As someone who enjoy lore videos and watch a lot of them, this is so acurate that almost look like a silly take on the lore of a real book/game/show more than a parody... and I love it.
The writing is funny, but the delivery is what makes this an s-tier meme
I’ve never played Darksouls and haven’t seen all of the LOTR movies.
I know unhealthy amounts of their lore
I was recommended a video today about a whole-ass story about a buncha dragons that I knew nothing about (i dont even know if its a game, a book or somethin else). Tho, I'm glad youtube is taking the time to validate my feelings about this LOL.
This is exactly what happened the first time my friend watched TTS with me
"Who is that guy in golden armour?"
(15 minutes of obtuse explanation of who Adeptus Custodes are that had very specific terminology every 20 seconds and I had to explain that too)
... god, I miss that series
Yeah. You kind of need lore background before you throw TTS at someone.
When I first watched tts I knew very little of 40k, it made me want to learn more, and when I did and rewatched it it was awesome.
“So, the Imperium, that’s this galactic empire, is organized into ‘adepta’ that all do different things. The Adepta Mechanicus builds machines, the Adepta Administratum does paperwork, and these guys, the Adepta Custodes, protect the barely-living body of their Emperor, who most people worship as a god.”
Careful how you say that name
@@changer_of_ways_999 I learned 40K lore almost exclusively through TTS and a smattering of Templin Institute. As you're well aware the series spent a large portion on educational content and commentary, so after a bit of initial confusion you get the hang of what's going on pretty easily.
This is me when watching people explain the Kingdom Hearts franchise
Talking about Kingdom Hearts lore is fun just because how easy it is to confuse people with it
This video makes more sense than the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
Nah, mate. I could actually follow along with this video's story, despite the silly words and multiple characters coming out of left field. No such thing with the -story- mess of the KH continuity.
kingdom hearts story is just a string of inspirational truisms disguised with overtly symbolic language and imagery making people think there's something more to it besides "friends are good :)"
@@NickOleksiakMusic i hate how they give a keyblade to everyone especially because of the way it is passed with you just having to touch the keyblade of a "master"
so technically if you get in a fight with a keyblade master you can have a keyblade as well
i would love a game where we play as someone who does not have a keyblade but is still trying to fight the darkness using normal swords and guns
Pfe. It's so damn simplistic for someone who had read Homestuck. No Tolkien-esque book would *EVER* come close to how complicated this whole shit is. After being in the fandom for 1/5 of my life, having spent hours and hours rereading and thinking about it, I _think_ I'm close to understanding it, but only close; noone can understand Homestuck, even Hussie.
Bravo. I now have the formula for naming my fantasy characters.
Italian Pasta + Italian violinist = otherworldly beasts.
Ah yes, who can forget the horror of facing off against the Lumaconi Geminiani for the first time?
It's a big omission to talk about Berkel and the Land of Sus and never mention the Ventaron People. Tho granted, they don't really play that big of a role in the larger world until the rise of Bakakarag dynasty.
Why this doesn't have a million views lmao
Probably will eventually
"When Furfolk woke in the lands of Sus"
I... I can't...
i love how the music picks up halfway through
