- Humankind is the new and upcoming entry to the grand strategy video game market! The folks over at amplitude have created a historical 4X game that is set to rival sid meiers civilization in terms of its impact in the genre. Naturally the devs wanted to give me early access to see if I could perfectly balance the game and see if this New Civ Killer is broken and if it contains any exploits! Long story short we found infinite money, immortal units, broken diplomacy mechanics and perfectly balanced and overpowered religion! Truly everything in this game is broken and that just makes it the perfect strategy game for me to cover! And guess what the devs decided to add me into the game too!!! Thats right you can even play against the spiffing brit in your game and cry as his unlimited army of immortal horse warriors melts its way through your empire and generates infinite cash! Today we are going to try the Caveman Only Challenge by staying in the neolithic era for as long as possible and then breaking the ai mechanics to pull ahead!
So Is Humankind A Perfectly Balanced Game With No Exploits? Well there is only one way to find out! Get ready for some funny humankind gameplay and my humankind strategy for the neolithic era and a humankind guide for the liberation exploit!
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. If you enjoyed this then be sure to check out more. The style is similar to RT game and callmekevin in parts. A large influence on this series has come from Valefisk and The Killian Experience.

"You can now sack and liberate the same city only once per turn"
Why can you even sack them in the same turn that you've liberated them in the first place?
@@bodaciouschad Developer oversight. The developers can't think of everything when they make a game. They probably never even considered that anyone would capture a city state they just liberated.
@@Syngrafer That would be a big oversight. Any moderately experienced player is going to look at that feature and ask "can I use this to reset my city?"
@@DavidGuild The problem is not even reliberating the city as that destroys pops and units, the problem is that the city auto-builds districts when it is liberated. Im sure there was a person on the dev team that thought that was a good idea and it was added without thinking of the exploit loops. Take the district building out and the exploit disappears as there is no point to liberating and capturing. To diminish the impact of neolithic pop spamming, the culture/research huts could respawn with diminishing returns and with limited respawns as on harder difficulty or more populated maps, it can be hard to find untouched areas and a player could get stuck in that era if they did not respawn at all.
Could also be solved by making the reward diminish per player, so if a player already has a star in neolithic, the huts do jack shit or only a little per hut.

"What is the point of building your own cities when simply you can just steal it from others?"
I mean, you are in fact British, so this tracks.
Play with more land mass to get lots of mammoths, and you can get that many tribesmen in the same number of turns even on the longest game speed (40 food per monke) while getting >1000 influence. Use that influence to get wonders and the free fully built cities to build them. Claim your second wonder before the AI claims its first.
Or more players, maybe that's what spawns mammoths instead of land
The way he got that city to develop districts that were far more technologically advanced than what he had, or even could, research reminds me of the Pakleds from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
18:20 _“What is the point of building your own city when you can steal it from others”_
ah, a true british indeed
History books: A long time ago, the most powerful empire was built on one city by liberating it and sieging it over and over and over again.
I do enjoy the fact that the caveman strat is more of a strat than an exploit. It's the difference between a longer time investment to get more out of it later, or a shorter time investment to get to the rewards quicker since you're a bit more vunerable as the early era. So it doesn't break the game. But then the city invasion is just broken.
Spiff has finally returned to monke
Sorry I meant money.
E
This comment is brilliant.
I have actually been wondering how valuable it would be to just stay in ancient to build pop that way cause you can build it really fast, especially the more you have. Then you can conquer with them or just disband them to get insane population in cities. Apparently it actually is pretty dang effective so long as you aren't too picky on which first civ you get
Underrated comment. It's far more efficient to use the scouts to disband into your own cities or just simply instantly conquer the AI.
@@lordcarve yeah, I've really only played a few games. But after my first one I'd figured out how to go through ancient in like 5 turns. Then I found a city and it takes a while to grow pop but you find a couple mammoth and are like I if I didn't advance that'd be 2 pop right there. Take a turn or two. You lose out on some production from city for those turns you wait, but high pop means more production, and until you get techs to enhance production, your city doesn't make that much on its own. And the tribal unit is respectable for a decent while. Also I guess you'll blow through the first era anyway.
Though a vastly different game, this reminds me of Age of Evolution. Can't think of the genre, but a 2D arena for fighting. You buy units and fort upgrades and have them autofight the AI's units and upgrades, trying to get to their fort to crush it. Over time, you earn evolution points that let you go to the next age, with new units and fort upgrades. Caveman to medieval to... renaissance? Then to modern, and finally futuristic. All with a pattern to what's available. A basic unit, a range unit, a mounted unit, a basic turret, a stronger turret, and an ultimate. But while you'd think cavemen with clubs, slingshots, or riding stegosaurus while eggs are rapid fired from a chicken strapped to their cave would lose pretty quickly... They don't. You can stay as cavemen almost right up to the end, and they will stop everything. Even as the AI gets horses, muskets, swords, and eventually grenades and AK-47s, with the enemy fort upgrading to dump oil on you or with a full auto machine gun turret, the cavemen not only survive, they manage to deal a little to the enemy fort. They only become unmatched against the sci-fi era, and even then, while they can't win, they can survive a really long time. So you can have a caveman on a stegosaurus fighting an alien looking mech warrior while a chicken turret supports it with hundreds of eggs
I've been looking for a game that combines up to 60 historical cultures as you lead the people from the ancient to the modern age!

Great video Spiff, super early, watching with some Yorkshire tea.
This is great fun and a wonderful video.
Sadly this strategy would not work in a regular game
for two simple reasons.
Most maps have a limited surface area on their first continent. This is to encourage the use of boats later on. So eventually there will be less and less fog of war and therefore less curiosities.
But more importantly, border access.
Other players are going to start claiming territories and establishing borders. And Neolithic Era tribesmen can not communicate with other players to establish open borders treaties. Your tribesmen will be inevitably boxed in and unable to explore.
Unless you declare war to invade borders. But then of course you are at war.
